Re:                              Gulden NLG                              DELTA PRIME

Between them two, mining and buying, mining was the more expensive one. Example:
For every X amount of Bitcoin yielded, we could collect 10.000 Guldens from the market through buying them, whilst for that same amount of X Bitcoins we could collect 7.000 Guldens through mining them. Yet with the current conditions, the price of both Gulden and the Bitcoin, it is possible to acquire 9.000 Guldens from the market, whilst we could collect 8.000 Guldens through mining (these numbers are not real figures, but merely to simplify the example).

So what I was referring to, that if (and only if) these line continues to shift in favor of mining being able to acquire more daily Guldens than through buying them, a bigger part of the daily yielded Bitcoins will be spend on mining. The reason behind it, is to obtain the most Guldens for the holders  Wink

I would guess the associated cost of obtaining NLG through mining has come down as the network has seen a large increase in dedicated hash rate over the past month or 2.  Thus more blocks are being solved per day and a smaller percentage of newly minted Guldens going to jump/profit switching pools.  I doubt those lines you mention will ever cross over as the saying goes "the universe doesn't leave free money on the table".  If miners can obtain Gulden for less than what they can immediately sell it for they will point their hashes this way I'm sure. Smiley  again.. just my 2 cents.

Hi guys.

Hope all is well with everyone.  I'm fairly new to crypto so for the abe experts out there I've got a question.  Do you think it's technically feasible to modify abe to work with multi-difficulty-algo coins such as myriad coin or digibyte?  The reason I ask is I use abe's backend database to create mining stats / charts / richlist for a coin I follow as a hobby that is likely going to move to multi-algo.  see nlgstats.iblogger.org for an example of some of the things I get by using abe.  I'm not an html guy so it's not very pretty.  Am I better off transitioning to something like insight?  I really like working with abe, hate to move to something else.  Cheers.  All the best --Mark

I really hope Guldencoin regains focus on The Netherlands.

The only road to success is gaining foothold in the Dutch retail industry and among Dutch consumers.

For that, there is no need for other coins joining or supporting, and there is no need for big influences on the Guldencoin development by foreign mining pools.

Guldencoin should be easy to use, easy to mine and easy to acquire for Dutch citizens.

The primary goal should be adoption by the Dutch market soonest possible.

The mining/algorithm discussion has been distracting for too long already.

Out of the box:

Change to M7M CPU mining algorithm so everyone can join mining and the whole miningshare discussion that has dominated the last 50 pages of this thread, is obsolete.
- Magicoin (XMG) dev Joe already kindly offered his help to Guldencoin and knows exactly how to do this, he has already done it with great success.

Start a campaign by distributing NLG to opened wallets in a given time period, wallets with an IP from The Netherlands, limited to 1 wallet per certain IP range
- ask the Miraclecoin (MCL) dev for help and advice; he already did this very successfully.

Interesting ideas.  Thanks for sharing.  One thing I'd be worried about with CPU mining is malware and botnets.  There would now be financial incentive for malware developers to install code on systems to mine crypto via an infected machine's CPU.  I heard Andreas Antonopoulos make this point when people were worried about 50% of bitcoin mining coming from 1 pool.  --Mark

https://explorer.guldencoin.com/sapi/totalcoins?type=all --> All coins including premines not taken.

For some wondering about the zero's: It is in satoshi so it is the number divided by 100,000,000 to get the number of coins.  Wink

Divide by 100,000,000 to get the number of Guldencoins. I chose to do it this way because this makes it a drop-in replacement for systems already using https://blockchain.info/nl/q/totalbc

Any reason they stopped? Price too low? Or just changed address? Or someone asked them friendly?

Clevermining didn't stop.  Maybe they reduced their hash rate towards NLG, but the increase in hashing at guldenpool is probably the big difference maker.

For those interested in some daily mining statistics about NLG, feel free to head over to http://nlgstats.iblogger.org  (appologize for the crude html, not my thing).  This has been my scratchpad to learn about / interact with the blockchain.  Will gladly try my best to add any additional info to the daily stats if it will help.  Just shoot me a PM with ideas.  If additional products are needed I'll see what I can do.  There is also an NLG richlist (top 100 addresses) for those interested in those types of things.  I'll update at least daily, just remember to refresh (F5?) for the latest info.  Chrome likes to cache.

RE: Long block gaps:  In my humble opinion regarding large scrypt multi-pools, I'm against IP blocking.  In the immediate short term let's reach out to clevermining and try to tweak their NLG targeting to avoid these long block gaps?  Based on his previous posts they seem reasonable and willing to work with us.  It is probably is more efficient for clevermining to have a dialog with one 1 NLG rep (dev?) and hopefully the information coming out of those talks will flow here in a timely fashion?   Appreciate the NLG devs are being cautious and providing more frequent updates on progress.  Investigations, simulation and analysis take time if done properly and nobody has unlimited free time.

As others have mentioned it, things look to be improving.  Let's hope the trend continues.  Assuming clevermining is tuning their hashrate towards NLG to avoid creating these these big block gaps?

Another mining calculator for your list:

I believe the site owner visits here from time to time.

Of course with the way clevermining is jumping in and out and the difficulty bouncing around, not sure how valuable these  mining calculators are..

Re: [NLG] Guldencoin.com/pay-here — 25TH OF SEPTEMBER V1.3 (DGW3) MANDATORY UPDATE
by
markanth
on 27/09/2014, 04:12:10 UTC
Is it just me, or is anyone else watching Clevermining rape NLG right now?  Difficulty drops, they mine 15 blocks in a minute.  Difficulty spikes because of them, and we get stuck with the 40 minute block time until a different pool mines the block that block that drops the difficulty back down.  Can anyone confirm the DGW3 update is WAI?  Is this what we were shooting for?  No offense to the devs or the community, please don't take it that way.  I'm just stumped as to why no one is making note of this.

As a small pool operator, I'm kind of at a crossroads right now.  I can't compete with Clever and Hardcore pegging 95%+ of the blocks everyday, but I'm still hopeful that my pool will find it's place with this coin.  I'm not saying all this so people can say, "oh poor Fuse".  I'm just a little frustrated with the fact that Clever is still raping the coin, and small pools can't compete with only dedicated NLG pool.

Should I just give up trying to compete?

-Fuse

EDIT- Let me go on record as stating I was all for the DGW3 update.  Please don't think I wasn't.  I'm just wondering upset Clever is destroying us right now.

my 2 cents.. if you read back the last 20 days of posts.. many are making note of this.. some have thought this was a bigger deal than others.. some were talking about this much earlier.. but eventually everyone is coming around..

Last update from the NLG dev team, I believe they said clevermining cut back the total hashrate periodically pointed at Guldencoin to 1/12th the their total hashrate.. problem is total clevermining hashrate is currently 350GH.  so 1/12 of that is ~29GH..  meanwhile, our largest dedicated pool to NLG (HC-miners) has a hashrate of 0.7GH.

I don't think clevermining is angry.. if they wanted to screw us over, they could point that entire 350GH at NLG for an hour straight.. then we'd really be in trouble.. the clevermining op is willing to work with us to avoid long block gaps, and we are very appreciative of that.. but there is a more systemic problem.. clevermining wants to grow, and they have a responsibility to their users to pay more per day than if they would just be mining litecoin.  if they don't, another switching pool will, and clevermining users will say adios and flock to the new best switching pool in town.  I'm surprised there isn't a service that enables miners automatically switch between the most profitable switching pools. Smiley  Anyways, this obviously isn't good for small market cap scrypt alt-coins..  popular sites like gawminers don't help either.. where you buy a cloud scrypt miner but you can only point it at a few switching mining pool.. not a dedicated coin pool of your choosing..  ironically I believe I saw an ad for gawminers at hardcore miners website a few days back.

BTC is large enough were they don't have to worry about this.. (debatable).. However, for the rest of the scrypt coins, there is a network effect occurring against them and money talks.. a scrypt miner may be better off pointing their rig at a switching pool to earn btc, then buying NLG on an exchange with that btc as it's dumped by the switching pools.. so respect to the pool ops and miners (small and big) 100% dedicated to NLG. Also thanks to CIG for trying to keep those pools going with a little extra NLG incentive.

let's keep the discussion going and be open to new approaches to solving this.. learn lessons from other coins.. if this is not the best place for the discussion then on a dedicated forum page..  apologize for the wordy post.  nlgstats.iblogger.org will continue to track clevermining and the block gaps.

Edit - also apologize if i'm way incorrect on some of these things.. new to crypto..

Hi,

BTW great coin, but before I buy some NLG up I just want to make sure on something. I gather the below addresses is for your spacedrop to the dutch people. I notice all 150 million is still in those addresses? Has no one claimed or...

Cold Storage 1: GYhkHEHFSwjVaq7Bt9Akm9EHDMamiWkPZb
Cold Storage 2: GLjU6est4NXFri3Rmx2SnA9PzFdYsm1Tcb
Cold Storage 3: GK3g74iYY5cCHF8AscMgPUBSRV7kicwRR4

there were 170 million NLG created in genesis block for development / giveaway.  some of that has already been given away, some was sold off to fund the development of the ios wallet.  I'm assuming the team can account for the entire 170 million.. they just need time to come up with a good way of presenting the info I guess.. I believe it's on the team's to-do list..  otherwise it's a good community project.. it's all there on the blockchain.

Some still mining on the old chain with 5,8 Gh/s according to http://www.guldencointrader.nl/hashrate.php, which repesents still the old chain.

DGW3 still stabilising from the hold, with some spikes. Will take a while, but blocktime will smooth more and more in time, when hashrate stays stable for a couple of hours, I think.

See how the race goes: GND=hardcore, Gf7=nicehash.
https://explorer.guldencoin.com/#/blocks

About the other chain, dont forget that less blocks are being mined and the network still thinks it has that hashrate (even though no one is mining) since there are no new blocks found.

Gf7 is clevermining I think.  I will add GND to the daily tally at nlgstats.iblogger.org starting tonight.

All - this is definately beta. It's a work in progress and it definitely contains errors.  If anyone wants to work with me on what I'm doing wrong, send me a PM.  It's just an ugly nested SQL query that runs against the abe database daily and gets uploaded.  I'm sure GJ could come up with a much better solution but he's got bigger fish to fry right now Smiley

PS: my hunch is rank #4 and #6 are bittrex wallets.. pools don't typically hold large balances.

Hello everyone,

DGW3
A few days ago I posted that we were thinking about changing our difficulty re-adjustment algorithm from KGW to DGW3. The main reason for this upgrade is the swing in blocktimes caused by jumping miners. I promised to give an update today.

Meanwhile, there has been some discussion about other methods that could also be beneficial to Guldencoin. BTM’s long coin maturity is an interesting idea that might make it into the coin when more discussion has taken place. For now we believe the change from KGW to DGW3 is the first thing we need to do and we hope it will be enough to stabilize the network blocktime.

The word 'we' is used often in this post.  Just for clarification, when you say 'we' you mean the 5 people at 'https://guldencoin.com/who-we-are'?  Or were other people involved in this decision to hardfork?  Please don't take this as a negative remark.. just trying to understand what exactly the process is to decide on implementing a major change like this.

With "we" I mostly mean the team yes. But the decision is based on multiple factors: results from our own research, external persons/devs that we have asked for opinion, and rhe feedback from the community.

Thanks GJ.  I was half asleep after a very long day when I wrote the original post.. I read it this morning and thought to myself.. what a crappy post. Smiley  let me expand my original post a bit..  it should have included: "the work you and the rest of the team do is amazing work.  I have complete confidence the transition to DGW will go smoothly".  I'll continue to post the daily tally of blocks mined by Gf7wGA and the longest block of the day to nlgstats.iblogger.org.  We'll see how DGW does.  Cheers! --Mark
