Was initially impressed, after dealing with defective units, lack of technical support and having my emails completely ignored.... not so much.

Will definitely be looking to a different vendor for any future purchases.

Re: Zoom hash legit or scam?

I have made multiple orders with them and got units delivered promptly, so they are legit.

However, I had to deal with their "customer service" recently, so I won't be buying from them again.

Same as others, I have had defective pieces that I had to pay to ship back, then wait for replacements. I had trouble getting one of my miners working and I had the support person tell me "We don't provide any technical advice". So I am left wondering why support even exists there. Getting any sort of help from them was like pulling teeth and in the end I did get it working, more thanks to google than their customer service.

One of my defective pieces was replaced with a defective piece, and then another...  now they are ignoring my emails and it's unclear how or if that will get resolved.

Initially I was very impressed, but at that point I think we were all very happy to just have delivery on schedule (or at all, lol). After having some problems that would require them to actually do something other than take my money and ship me a thing, I am now severely disappointed.

IMHO stay away from these guys.

My last order arrived without any power adapters.

Sent an email to mcao@zoomhash on Monday and haven't heard anything back yet.

Hey Zoomhash, was I supposed to get power adapters? Would be nice to at least know if I am supposed to order my own or not while I am sitting here not hashing with my grids that were delivered promptly  Roll Eyes

Hi,

Are you talking about the DC connector heads or power adapters?

We used to send the DC connector heads free but some people did not wire those correctly so we stopped sending those.

We can't find any orders where you ordered power adapters. Please let me know . thanks.

Taken care of, thanks for the email / explanation  Grin

2) A single Pi can handle up to 32 USB devices (thus, 32 Gridseeds), correct? Will the software support this number? (I switched over to cgminer for more accurate reporting)

I can't tell you about the ZH image, but assuming the limitation is the pi itself I saw it max out at 18. The pi could barely do anything else so checking the hashrate locally was a pain. Luckily the pi is cheap and takes nearly no power, plan accordingly.

I could be wrong, but i thought max is 32 usb device for pi run stale if you dont use cpuminer. running 32 instance of cpu miner in a RPI wont be a stable IMO

Sorry this wasn't my rig, all I can tell you is that on a stock pi with cgminer in scrypt only when we plugged in #19 and #20, the pi would keep hashing with the 18 but wouldn't pick up the new devices. Maybe the software is to blame but I couldn't get a keyboard or mouse working either so that made me think the pi couldn't handle any more.

Hey mass..... Here is what I'm talking about.

http://hash-master.com/

My desire is to stick with Zoomhash but I need a little love right about now. A defective unit and 249.00 WHEW! I'm a little bothered....

EDIT: Yes it was a "bit" high! especially when I paid 225.00 less than a week before from these guys. I planed to buy more based on that price, then for some unknown reason they shot up to 249.00 the day I planned to order them , in order to get by this past Saturday,,, so it was either buy the JACKED price or don't get any till this week.... I should have waited or shopped around. I just put my blind faith and trust in Zoomhash, I know better now. I hate feeling like a chump  Embarrassed

I'm not seeing it...  what am I looking for here? I am seeing one GS for 198 that does not include the power adapter. ZH sells them now for about the same price with the power plug. One GS with all accessories is 248 at this link. Am I missing something or was this price the same last week?

I'm sure your defective unit will be taken care of if the rest of the feedback is any indicator. Sorry you had to deal with that though, pain in the ass for sure ;P

I think trust but verify is a good policy here. I still trust that ZH will be bringing these at a competitive price point, and he has shown some pretty good service so far. But taking time to verify that before you order can't hurt either Wink

Side note:

I guess I was one of the last suckers to pay 249.00 each last Tuesday and then on top of that 1 is defective and will have to be returned for exchange, plus return shipping fee's........ there all over the place now as low as 198.00 ,,,, day late and a dollar short I guess Sad
and I STILL DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW IT IS THE WEEK BEFORE  WHEN I ORDERED 1 FOR TESTING I ONLY PAID 225.00.  A WEEK LATER (last Tuesday) I HAD TO PAY 249.00?? Did someone at Zoomhash see the mass selling of these and get a little greedy? Still don't understand the big price jump, and now they are dirt cheap. Just sux a little, plus the high dollar defective one...  Just feel I way over paid by 200.00 bucks on the 4 I ordered last week.... and I was going to get 5 but the dang price shot up 25.00 each?? ok, just whining, which I normally don't lol Good Night

I gotta agree that your 249 was a bit high. That said, double check some of the other sellers. I have seen these as low as 189, but then they tack on some bloated shipping fee that gets you right back up into the area around 230, and no deal on shipping more than one.

Don't get me wrong, I think you'll be fine with these either way. Look at other scrypt ASICs. They aren't cheaper, don't use less power, and won't be at your door anytime soon because they don't technically exist yet. So even when the others do come out none of them are offering any serious advantage over these that we can get right now. Gridseed the clear winner IMHO Grin

Guys, try the latest 0.5.4pre2 version of Vertminer: http://www.mediafire.com/download/533i8bag5fu2f2k/VertMiner-0.5.4pre2.7z

Don't set anything but --shaders and intensity, and let it configure itself, and don't forget it's not --scrypt but --Nscrypt.

My line:

vertminer --nscrypt -I 18 --shaders 2560  -o server -u username -p password

well that totally didn't work for me. GPUs won't even start like that, trying the miner out, but having to put in all the settings again, this nscrypt does seem like pure voodoo like that guy said Sad

I had same problem. GPUs off,  you just need 8mb of ram, then all works.

The funny thing is when I'm mining, I look the system memory and I'm just using 1.6 mb,  so I dont understand why 4mb not enough.

This BS is pure voodoo Tongue  lol

This was my problem too. Using 7950s, no indication my system was using the 4gb it had....  putting in 8gb worked for me. Sweet. So I played with settings a little bit, then left it sit to mine. Done and done.

BUT.... One gpu died so I restarted the system, and now it doesn't work anymore.

LOL right .....  so I tried the exeminer today and all it does is spam 'Found Block!' and reject shares. No special settings or conf file, just put in the pool details at launch.

Maybe I will come back to it with a later version or something  ;p

Hey zoom, I got a shipping confirmation for order 1750 but there was no tracking number. Will I get one?
And for the record, my second order showed up a couple days ago with the proper USB cables.

That's reassuring! I was hoping the same thing wouldn't happen to me, no offense  Wink

My little test unit is running on a raspi with stock raspbian and the modified cgminer. Pretty much plug and play after installing cgminer. only 1 hw error running at 900mhz for over 24 hours, but I turned them back down to 850mhz because I like seeing 0 HW  ;p

These are awesome, they don't even get warm, has anyone been running them stacked up on top of each other?

My batch 5 grids arrived today! Even included barrel plug adapters to power them....  if I knew that I wouldn't have bought the ebay psu for them, but I can't complain.  My device shipped on time and got here fast. Huge thumbs up for Zoomhash! I will definitely be buying more from you soon. Thank you!

Start cgminer then plug in the gridseeds one at a time. they seem to like usb 2.0 better then 3.0 usb from the computer

Did you need any special settings to make the go in cgminer? would be really cool if I could plug these in and have them mine next to my GPUs in the same cgminer instance

Hey zoom (or anyone who knows the answer for this)

Can the power supply your site suggests by ebay be used to power multiple grids? If I got some 5.5mm barrel plug splitters, how many grids could one of those power supply units handle? Thinking about running in scrypt only mode.
