Re: DASH Collapsing Monero UP

I dont think the mining supply redistribution is aimed at improving long term sustainability. In my opinion it is more possible that Ryan Taylor and other DCG insiders are using this and promises of "DASH Platform (Evolution rebrand) soon" as an attempt to pump the price once more before selling their coins and quitting (to avoid being fired for years of poor performance after Evan Duffield left).

If you follow the DASH forums, it appears that community members have given up competing with Monero (privacy by default) long ago.  Currently the DASH community worried about other opt in (and rarely used) privacy projects like Zcash passing them in the MC rankings.  Decred with technically superior governance model will likely pass DASH in the MC rankings at some point.  As blockchain users become better educated, marketing based on feature copying/re-branding from DASH loses its appeal.  The pace of the DASH network collapse will only increase if the recent DCG proposal to reallocate rewards away from miners is successful.

I decided to re-open my Dash Price and Trade Discussion thread in the altcoins speculation section.
Feel free to post in there with regards to Dash price speculation, i have a feeling we will have a lot to
speculate about in the nearby future, as Dash seems to be showing the first signs of price recovery.

Link : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1233119.0

Thank you for reopening the speculation thread. Hopefully price & trade speculation spam migrates there going forward instead of cluttering this announcement thread

Now that this thread is open, will price speculation in the DASH announcement thread be marked as off topic and redirected here?

Its hard to have a technical argument with someone that quotes news articles instead of code. See the Hackerone and or GitHub sources that show the issues being resolved:

https://hackerone.com/monero/hacktivity?order_direction=DESC&order_field=popular&filter=type%3Aall
https://github.com/monero-project/monero/commit/1d5e8f461de0a04891e5e18b0f50e9cf2cf534e1

Qwizzie obviously cant read code, or he would be asking DASH devs to open source ALL DASH evolution work and decentralize central points of failure such as the DASH Spork system

https://github.com/dashpay/dash/blob/master/src/spork.h

This particular security vulnerability has been labeled :

* mostly classified (which in this case means zero details)
* not fixed with v.0.14.1.0

Since Monero is still on v0.14.1.0 (three months later), this classified security vulnerability is definetely not yet fixed.
I'm not even sure in which category this particular classified security vulnerability falls, is it one of those two critical security vulnerabilities that the article mentions ?

Link : https://finance.yahoo.com/news/monero-patches-security-vulnerabilities-worst-190344413.html

Quote
Monero has revealed nine security vulnerabilities, two of which were assessed as “critical.” Eight of the bugs have already been fixed

Quote
Most of the vulnerabilities seem to have been fixed in June as the reports coincide with the release of Monero version 0.14.1.0 in June.
One, still mostly classified at the moment, awaits a fix.

I'm surprised a Monero classified security vulnerability can linger on this long (three months), without anyone from Monero's community raising any questions about it.

Let them have the a3 pawn. It will leave their knight out of play. If we can win the f3 pawn the game is over.

Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation

I would suggest taking a stop back and looking at the volume levels in the weekly chart. https://bitcoinwisdom.com/markets/poloniex/xmrbtc both in terms of XMR and the XBT. The volume numbers since February 2016 are consistently way higher by approximately a factor of 4 than the historical levels going back to 2014. This is indicative of a fundamental change in over the last two months.

As RingCT approaches I think volume has the potential to go much higher.  I have looked at ZCash very closely and still find Monero much more attractive. If a reasonable percentage of the people hearing about ZCash this summer prior to its release perform due diligence, I think a lot of new interest in Monero will result.

Re: Monero will probably be the next +10x coin
by

It's already more than 3x since January...and on heavier volume.  It's got a good running start on the quest for 10x.

Not sure I'd say "probably".  Hopefully, though!  It reminds me of bitcoin in 2010 or 2011 in many ways.

Also might not be the next.  Who knows what pump-and-dump scamcoin could go 10x in the meantime.

But anything is possible!

Oh, did I say 3x since January?  I meant 4x!  It was .00105 on January 6th.  Well, I guess it only hit .00416 today.  Still needs .00004 to be a 4x'er.

As soon as XMR approaches DASH market cap I expect DASH funds to start to flee into XMR.

The market leader for privacy at the protocol level is undeniable.

3. Minimum mixin requirement on all transactions (with some special exceptions for existing "dust")

4. No new "dust" allowed.

Where can I find the definition of "dust"?

Kristov Atlas did a thorough review of DarkSend at the end of 2014.  He found some minor issues on attack vectors and they were corrected.  DarkSend has matured even better since then, and it doesn't take that long to mix.  Well, at least not for the amounts I have available to me.  It does depend on how many rounds and surprisingly the smaller denominations seem to take the longest.

How come this "thorough review" was never published for the community to see? Was it too embarrassing for DASH?

Why does the DASH community keep ignoring requests for a reasonable bounties to be created so that qualified people might try to test its privacy?

If the DASH claims of quality code are legitimate, you have nothing to fear and a bounty could improve credibility. If a flaw is found, it would be better to identify and fix it now until waiting until more people actually start using DASH.

Interesting DASH and masternode analysis:

In addition to devolving the proof-of-work into a proof-of-stake non-security shitcoin consensus system, more importantly it is a great scam system:

The rest of your post was gracious, but really you don't understand that the insiders stole the supply and then they crafted masternodes which they could own most of, which thus pay them dividends, so they own an eternal supply of coins to P&D with. There is mining debasement that appears to be decentralized, except due to insider control over masternodes, the debasement ends up back in the insiders' pockets for dumping on greater fools.

How is development going smooth? We all know you have a busy schedule and appreciate your efforts!

No but Max Keiser has a habit of being a permabull on precious metals and his advice probably has cost some folks a lot of money.   I don't trust the man.  He's made a lot of money for himself though, so it kinda makes ya wonder.

I don't trust him either. He talks about START COIN, MAX COIN and other garbage all the time

Overpriced based on hype of Bitfinex/Homestead IMHO

I don't think this valuation can last long but I have been proven wrong before.
