Re: A currency or investment?
by

Well if you ask me, bitcoin pretty much serves both as a currency and investment. However, its prices are always fluctuating and have shown immense growth in the last 5 years. This uncertain feature of this beautiful virtual currency makes it a verry useful investment. Investing in bitcoin is a long term process and one shouldn't expect quick results. Have patience while you invest, and you'll definitely feel good about your decision after the next 5 years or so!

Re: How too get rich
by

How *to get rich. Well, first of all you need to master the science of space and time, then collect enough resources to build a working time machine and then travel back in time to the year 2008 with a little cash and buy around 1000 bitcoins. Well, why stop there? You have a bloody time machine you can do whatever you want! But that's just a dream never coming true. What you can do is to research, study the market well, invest properly on bitcoins (or anything else that suits you) and stop looking for shortcuts. Smiley

Re: Bitcoin or Gold? What would you pick?
by

One cannot ignore Bitcoin's success or overlook its advantages over the normal currencies, I admit. But I would like to emphasize on the fact that bitcoins are still relatively new and we are not sure if we should invest a large chunk of money on it, especially when we have gold as the other option, which is much more reliable. Gold's prices WILL shoot up no matter what, but we cannot say the same about Bitcoin with such assurance since as we have seen in the past , its value keeps fluctuating. I would still invest in gold if I have a choice between the two mentioned.

No I don't think we share a similar thinking on this matter. the 2013 shoot was due to a number of uncertain factors which I don't really see this year. the growth has been very steady and constant, which makes me out of all very happy. It kinda assures that though there will not be a sudden rise in the prices of the bitcoin, there won't be any drop either, that is, we are looking at a constant growth in the rates in the coming future. This week has been great and I hope the trend continues.

Re: bitcoin reach to $250

We all wish to earn quick cash but it's better to have a long term vision when it comes down to financial matters. I believe that the Bitcoin wouldn't reach the $300 marks so early since, if we follow the current market trends, the market has been quite stable and it's unlikely that the prices will be beyond $250-$270. And it is good. A sudden/volatile increase in the prices will make the dumpers dumb and bring the prices back to where they were. Such a fluctuation isn't healthy. Slow and steady is better!

Re: It's not only Greece

it's not surprising, what's surprising is that we still have countries which are against the bitcoin. After the unexpected decline of economy in Greece it's quite reasonable to think that such a situation can strike any other country and as they say 'prevention is better than cure'. It's good that these nations have  started using bitcoins since it seems to be the only genuine refugee Which can pull you up during the initial time of crisis. More countries should join.

Re: Will Bitcoin 'save' Greece?
by

Bitcoin, for Greece, a country going through a drastic economical decline, would be a ray of hope for it's people who, at the moment, don't have many options. The question that is whether the bitcoin will save Greece's econony or not is not difficult to answer. Nope it won't. the fiat money has failed it's people and bitcoins also need to be earned. I doubt people will be able to earn bitcoins.

Why not? Greek's fiat money and banks have failed it's people. a population which sees it's current economy decline so badly would try to find some refuge. And bitcoin is one virtual global currency. Had I been one of them I would have chosen the bitcoin as my saviour as well. Though this shoot of usage of the bitcoin in Greece will help raise the price of the bitcoins as well so Oohho!

Re: Bitcoin is Becoming a Global Currency

Bitcoins are spreading all over the world. I wonder why some countries are still against this revolutionary currency. Though I don't think it'll take much time for these countries to accept Bitcoins once they realize its' advantages. Yes, bitcoins should become a global currency in the coming future!

Re: Which country looses the most when Bitcoin becomes the Currency of Planet Earth

Countries against the Bitcoins (banning them, restricting them etc.) will face some goood losses as they do not know the potential behind bitcoin and the wonders it could do, let alone ban them because their centralized currency wouldn't get much attention since then and they cannot track us all the time. Those which support bitcoins will reap the benefits and they deserve it! Quite obvious.

Oh yes some good news. The prices will keep fluctuating so expect the unexpected. I hope it touches 400$ in the next 2 days. However, the chances of that happening are very low. It would be very beneficial for a lot of businesses but the scenario due to the Greek incident, the media has hyped up bitcoins and maybe we get more attention. Price must hit 300$ in a week more

Agreed with everything. though all we can do is sit back and wait. Might as well pray for something better to happen. Falling was a really bad thing to happen and every little movement in one part of the earth comes down an effects all others too. its the Dominic effect, guess we can't do much about it but prepare ourselves to withstand further collateral damage.

It does crash and it springs back up again. Bitcoins haven't disappointed yet. they're good for the long run, afterall they're a long term investment. don't let others tell you what to do go study the market etc. and make your own decisions.
And next time try to back up your argument with something more than a youtube video. Smiley

You'll be a millionaire by 2025-2030 I guess. By 2020 the price of BTC wouldn't be more than 5k$ imo. Hold on have some patience. 10 more years and bam you're a millionaire!

You should tell what country you belong to to get a proper advice on such matters. However, selling Bitcoins isn't a great idea at the moment. I suggest you to keep them for 3-5 years and wait for the prices to go up (which shall imo). But mostly you should research a little more and make your own decisions on such matters. You won't have to credit/blame anyone then.

BitCoin is not as reliable as gold (since it's relatively a new) if I want to invest a lot of money on one. I would rather invest in gold since there's a guarantee that the prices of gold will rise in the upcoming years.

When 21 million coins have been mined, I will have been long dead, so I don't care Wink

A good advise to be to spread more happy knowledge about bitcoin so more people adopt bitcoin and more bitcoin gets in, because if all these coins are ever mined, the price will just deflate and the market will crash.

Re: What projects are you most excited about?

i need something like amazon for bitcoin, immediately so openbazar only for me, there should be an exchange counterpart, or they can integrate it in the open bazar project

i hope it will be big, and not only a niche market, like every other project for bitcoin...

For the success of openbazaar, it needs huge marketing and adaptation as it already has a huge market competition. For huge adaption like amazon and ebay, it needs to be backed by another strong company. Maybe it could team up with other e commerce websites in its native country to boost function and adaption.

Re: BITCOIN going up or down
by

Bitcoin hit 10$ once? WOW. I did not know that, must be weird for people who really bought a lot of it. And the ones who gave up that time, are probably crying the f out now. What was bitcoin's $ price when it initially came out?

A big, fat zero. In 2010 someone on here tried to sell 10,000 coins. He couldn't get $50 for them.

I'm sure lots of people blew it with BTC. It would've been easy to believe it was going to die or go nowhere in the early days. Hindsight makes everyone a hero. It's not so simple when you're up to your ears in it.

I guess a lot of people who held on are potential success stories, except, hardly few tried to hold on, right?
That is exactly the hope which keeps mostly all btc owners to hold on, that someday their investment will boost similarly. With the recent move of cameroon government using centralised crypto currency, I feel a bit hesitant to make hasty moves.
