With a difficulty on 0.8, im trying to solo mine as much as I can.
I have calculated that I will find 1/11 blocks.
Network: 28 MHash

It's getting miserable though.. Minep.it are still on another fork, with network 35MH/s.

Who has the right to claim the right fork? Isn't it normally the longest or strongest chain?

So, the Windows binaries and Linux compiles are ending up on different networks, is that correct?

I think this might be the end of this coin.

I have to agree. I've been trying to work out how to get on the right fork to continue mining but there aren't any answers coming from the dev. I was on the same fork as the pools which as far as I'm concerned was the "right" fork because it didn't get stuck and was on a higher block number. Why the dev reverted to the shorter chain is unknown and now after following his instructions my wallet won't sync at all....I'm on the verge of giving up on this coin.

My PC "synced" wallet:

{
"blocks" : 28169,
"currentblocksize" : 0,
"currentblocktx" : 0,
"difficulty" : 1.18027915,
"errors" : "",
"generate" : false,
"genproclimit" : -1,
"hashespersec" : 0,
"networkhashps" : 25288363,
"pooledtx" : 0,
"testnet" : false
}

while minepit is on block 28332 with net hash 53 Mhs.

That is right, we all are on same blockchain.
Currently 28170

but some of these pools are on wrong fork, can't do much as I do not manage them.

So why won't my wallet sync? Is it a linux specific problem? We really need to get this sorted out.

Updated github code to prevent forking.

Their is no issue on Windows client, forking started & happening on some linux pools. I have updated the code on github, pool ops needs to pull code from it. They may have to delete blockchain & let their clients update correct blockchain.

https://github.com/billotronic/vcoin

Did pulled the changes from github and deleted the blockchain but my wallet now won't sync (it is stuck on 27974).

Anyone having issues with their wallet being stuck on block 27969?

Yep, same problem here. No payouts from P2P pool for last 3 hours.
Wallet stuck on 27969.

Sucks. Hope dev gets it fixed quick.

Everything is working fine for me and there are a lot of others computers on the network. However, the difficulty have understandably dropped. Are you all on the same pool?

How the wallet may depends from the pool? Diff dropped, wallet not sync - fork?

My debug.log full of

ERROR: AcceptBlock() : incorrect proof of work
ERROR: ProcessBlock() : AcceptBlock FAILED

http://p2poolcoin.com:3094/static/  Diff: 7.96    <- wrong chain?
https://vc.hardcoreminers.com/ Diff: 8.56
https://www.minep.it/pool/vc/ Diff: 8.56

https://www.europex.eu/#!coin/btc/vc Diff: 10.98   <-stuck on 27969
My wallet Diff: 10.98  <-stuck on 27969

How can the three pools (with the most hashing power) be on the wrong fork? Surely the wallet that aren't synching are on the wrong blockchain. I noticed my wallet wasn't synching yesterday so I downloaded the blockchain using vcoin's link above and everything is fine for me now.

FYI

getblockhash 27969
000000000a98666bae4ad2c40c5b17745a9d3880a446e111437502549f3d5a23

My wallet synced now. 27970 blocks.
Pools show current block is 28053.

Vcoin, can we please resolve this asap. Forking creates a loss in interest which is bad when we are starting to gain momentum. I'm currently on the same block as MinePit.

If anyone having issue with connections or wallet not sync, try downloading blockchain below.

Code:
https://mega.co.nz/#!vcJ3FbBY!jMKj6Kibrp337-7DrrCH0UlvSKMv8kY2F6y4Rz3ReDw

dump into your virtualcoin folder & start wallet & wait few mins.

Btw, thanks everyone for participating in the polls, it is great to see such a high level support to mine & trade Virtual Coin. As we all can see X11 DarkCoin took over Liecoin, and as scrypt miners are released X11 coins will be the one most users to switch to for mining & exchange.

Thanks vcoin - all sorted now.

It is nice to see the difficulty increasing....we must have some new miners on board.

BTW there is a more efficient X11 miner out - https://github.com/lasybear/sph-sgminer_x11mod
use -k x11mod and you will see ~30% improvement.

So, does anyone have any ideas how we can get Virtual Coin some traction?

Real the coin should sell itself:
Great coin based on X11 algo
Low number of coins
No premine
Low difficulty (easy to mine)
Active developer - any plans in the pipeline vcoin?
Great name - should be easy to market it...

I've put up a quick site for the coin, really deserves one!!

I've PM'd v.coinz with the nameserver's etc if he'd like to go ahead and use it.

http://95.85.3.250/

It's still a work in progress but is complete enough to go up.

Still need more questions for the FAQ and anything else people can think of.
How is the block explorer coming along, didn't I see that someone was working on one?

Looks awesome! You deserve a bounty.  Pretty sure the dev will hook you up with something.  Thanks man!

The new website really is quite good. Nice work!

How do we get more visibility for virtual coin? Can I suggest everyone fills in: https://poloniex.com/coinRequest

Richie, any idea when BBR will be listed? It looks like crypto_zoidberg has modified the code to include a payment id.

I think Boolberry is a good compromise most can live with. I for one even like it pretty good, its unique, friendly and the berry part makes for some fun puns in upcoming applications. Happy this is resolved (although none of my great suggestions got elected Roll Eyes )
Thanks for the kind words! Smiley

We all appreciate your efforts crypto_zoidberg! Let's build Boolberry into a great coin.

Can't include payment_id in transfer command..

Code:
Error: wrong address: deadbeef...

How do you include payment id in transaction ?
Well, i see. Monero have payment_id in transfer paramters. I'll add this code, wait for a while.

Yes we obviously lied... the standard cryptonote RPC calls aren't available... market offline Sad

I think it is a bad idea add BBR to your exchange site
because we have not a pool now
You will make the Boolberry to a bad situation

I have to say I disagree. Without growing interest in a coin it will die and I don't want to see that happen to Boolberry. As Surfer43 said recently the lack of a pool actually makes a coin more secure. We need to be listed as it will draw the attention of miners and traders. This is the bread and butter for a coin.

Crypto_zoidberg has clearly pointed out his vision for the coin and based on what I've seen so far I think he is an excellent developer. He obviously needs help with the marketing and communication. As I see it, we really need to:

i) settle on a name (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=618470.0) - this needs to be done asap.
ii) get the coin listed on bittrex and poloniex - can be done once we have a name
iii) get several pools running - offering a small bounty might help here
iv) make the OP look more professional
v) design a logo for branding of the website and OP - again a bounty is needed
vi) allow crypto to focus on coding and further developing the coin

Just my two cents.

Hello friends!

Seeing strong need for a pool, as well as realizing the complexity associated with the our original approach to PoW (blockchain-based hash), i spent the last two days working hard on implementing protocol, that makes able to create pool.

Now simpleminer is back, and several instances could work directly with daemon, as a clear example of shared work with blockchain-based scratchpad.
Hope this code let developers to organize pools for our project.

Why creating pool for BBR is a good idea ?
1. No doubt that a lot of people looking for pool for BBR.
2. You can offer alias registering service with pool, and get extra earning for each block. I'm personally ready to pay 5 BBR to pool for registering for me alias @obama(later i'll sell it to him)
3. Unlike other CryptoNote-family, BBR PoW hash is easy to check - less resources and less complicated backend (you don't need tho check only every hundredth share).

Technical details:
Notice: it's just a working example, it is not production code, and it's not optimized for trafic usage, so it's up to the pool developer.
Notice: At start simpleminer downloads whole scratchpad (it could be pretty big, estimate 90MB/year, at moment of writing this message it was about 2MB). Obviously pool client have to store this scratchpad somewhere on disk, to avoid traffic overhead.

To check work of simpleminer you need to run daemon as usual, and than start simpleminer:
Code:
simpleminer --login=anyname --pass=anypas --pool-addr=127.0.0.1:50102
50102 - rpc port for testnet, i recommend you to try there, since it is possible there to find a block pretty fast. (To be able to work in testnet pass to cmake -D TESTNET=TRUE )

I've started support thread for developers:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=628180.

So, everyone who is going to make pool - welcome!

PS: I'll answer to PM later, need to sleep some.

Awesome work Crypto - with you as our dev this coin is bound for very good things in the future!

That destroys all the coins today.
No matter how good the coin is, no matter how great the developer is, etc.
It all bogs down to the kid with the Mh/s Gh/s of hired power and the urge to sell it the next moment.

Not to mention it isn't profitable......
