Do you mean XMR stak is 20% faster than Claymore?

Yes. Read my previous comments and links.

No, XMR-STAK do NOT outperform CCNM by 20%. At least not with Terascale GPUs. It is not easy even to get comparable performance. The problem is that CCNM wil not use Terascale any more after v7 fork.

Again, read my previous comments and links. You can achieve parity with XMR stak and even outperform CCNM precisely on TeraScale. It depends if you find the right intensity and worksize. Also the main problem with STAK and TeraScale was that it only detected 384mb of memory which limited every single card, now that has been addressed in this issue through my help and the help of other contributors https://github.com/fireice-uk/xmr-stak/issues/472

I got 6990s doing ~395-400h/s per core, ~800h/s per gpu total on stak, vs 374 per core or ~ 750h/s on CCNM. Core clock and memory clocks identical in both cases.

It's no problem that CCNM will not support terascale anymore, problem is people are too lazy to work out a solution for themselves.

When new versions with v7 algo support???

In a few days.
Hey Claymore,

Are you going to support TeraScale/VLIW GPUs again?

Claymore v9.7 is the last version that works with 5xxx/6xxx cards and it doesn't support Monero v7 algo.

I wouldn't mind paying dev fees for an updated version. Smiley

Hi,

There's no worries, XMR stak now fully works with TeraScale gpus. Me and a couple of other members worked hard to troubleshoot it. Please check https://www.reddit.com/r/MoneroMining/comments/882ogg/summary_and_final_guidepointers_on_how_to/

and comments at https://github.com/fireice-uk/xmr-stak/issues/472

Basically, you need to use 14.4 driver, nothing else works with Stak, and then there are some extra sweet spot intensity settings you can find if you read through what was posted Smiley Result is getting 400 h/s per core of HD 6990 on xmr stak, that is about 800 h/s + per one HD 6990, guaranteed to work with V7 monero algo.
Well, the thing is Claymore v9.7 works fine with 15.7.1 (it actually asks for 15.x Catalyst for maximum performance/compatibility)... it would be nice if the latest Claymore added TeraScale support again. Smiley

Right, I see that, but you're missing my point. The drivers you use don't matter if it's a dedicated mining rig, and with 14.4 drivers, if you compile XMR stak from source, you can remove the dev fee, and you literally get the fastest miner for free. With those drivers and correct intensity/worksize, XMR stak outperforms claymore on terascale by 20%, plus you pay no fee.

Also, many people out there are still using 9.7 version miner 'cause it works with older gpus, I'm sure I'm not alone when saying this, but please could you also update that version of the miner as well? It would be very much appreciated if the old HD 5970s and 6990s could keep on hashing XMR even after the PoW change. All the best to you.
Agreed!

Claymore v9.7 is the only version that still works with VLIW GPUs like Radeon 5770. xmr-stak/xmrig-amd don't work with them...
Someone start us a petition so Claymore puts the old Cayman/Terascale binaries back in at the minimum...

Currently have a dual core rig running a 1GB Sapphire HD 6950 and a 2GB Asus R9 270X. It would be a shame if that 6950 became obsolete before it hashed its last hash... If we could somehow get both the older binaries AND Cryptonight-lite support in the same program Id be in heaven.
You can always use sgminer.

Do you have any info that someone'll update it for changed algo?

Nothing from Claymore so far, but I reached out to fireice, the dev of stak-xmr miner, since that is the only miner aside from claymore that somewhat supports hd 6990s, but the problem is, the memory detection doesn't work, so the cards do only about 40% of total hashpower, (here's the link https://github.com/fireice-uk/xmr-stak/issues/472) but there is a solution on the horizont that could be integrated in the next release after PoW change that will make the old cards supported fully, but it required building and testing the miner from scratch with the proposed PR, and I'm a total noob when it comes to github, so if somneone could help out, that would be amazing! You'd need to compile the miner with this PR https://github.com/fireice-uk/xmr-stak/pull/624

I'll be trying tonight, but again I'm a total noob and can't guarantee shit, would be nice if there was someone to just build the binaries... So that's the progress so far. Also I made a post here https://www.reddit.com/r/MoneroMining/comments/83vujq/xmr_mining_community_call_to_miner_devs_to/ so contribute what you can there.

Have you actually tested it yourself, can it match what Claymore's 9.7 is doing with for example HD 6990 where each gpu is giving at least 350h + ?

Claymore,

Do you have an ETA for updated XMR miner with PoW changes? Cryptocurrency podcasts - what to listen in search for insightful information?
by
monroexbtc
on 24/04/2017, 23:22:20 UTC
Hi all,

Since podcasts seem to be a trend of this age in the form of a really useful way of getting information to which I'm getting addicted more and more, I'm hoping to get your opinion and some suggestions of podcasts that you listen to that really provide quality information and insights about different cryptocurrencies, I'm particularly interested in major altcoins since there are already a plenty of podcasts covering bitcoin.

I'm hoping we can create a list of some sorts in a nice format that can be a reference to anyone seeking out a particular interest.

I'll start with what I recently discovered on monero subreddit as xmr is my new favorite thing,

Podcast Name: https://moneromonitor.com/
Pros: Great choice of guests so far, intelligent and insightful interviews, can download/listen to episodes in a number of ways(iTunes) and there's even a transcript done for each episode that you can read and reference whenever.
Cons: Episodes seem to be every 2 weeks or so, which might be too long for some people, but I think that the delivered quality is worth it.
Favorite thing so far: Episode 2 with hyc! That man was litereally responsible for NASA's satelite communication and I loved the points he made about true cryptocurrencies.

All right, now up to you, if anyone knows of more podcasts for XMR, ETH, ZEC, LTC, XRP, or whatever, please post bellow! And if you can, stick to the format above so we can have some order Smiley

Thank you for your time and effort in advance and looking to see what's up!
