A Pi si just about fast enough to control the data coming to and from a few ASICs.  It's never, ever going to have enough CPU power to even get a GPU working.

It's like raising London's Tower Bridge using a cordless screwdriver.

It runs several more than a *few* (I have had 21 block erupters on 1 Pi with no issues).

FPGA would take over the processing the RPi would end up as network translation and other low demand tasks.

Beagle Bone Black and Cubieboard are wayyyyyy more powerful and more stable (I'm testing the BBB for months, incredibly stable, and the Cubieboard for like a week only).
I don't imaging running my miners on RPi anymore, they are not as stable (I think it's because of the SD Cards... both BBB and Cubieboard have embedded MMC).

I've got BBB also and it is is pretty nice but for me running RPi has seen very good uptime, and it seemed like a waste to put the BBB on mining when it can do so many other things.

@babaji.ca - 1 of the 2 miners is in an encloser with no heat sink or air flow, the other simply sits on the carpet (literally). My media playback machine plays a loop and is inside the the TV with the heat of the RPi along with the heat of the TV, the only problem I have had was due to a bad storm that had several power outages. The SD card card was corrupted but not ruined (sudo fsck took care of it).

I have 3 that are on 24/7. 2 of them run at 100% CPU running ASIC miners, it seems I only have a problem about once every month or so, typically they reboot them selves.

1 is a media machine that has been playing a customized media loop for nearly a year, I get tired of it and update the firmware everyone in a while to see if I can break anything but no problems it just goes.

Another is used here and there when I am trying out new projects, I am about to stick it in a fake security cam housing and attach the real cam to it. I only point this one out because it has been dropped and set outside and been in the sun, the cold, and everything else you can think of but water. No problems.

I also have 6 more that have not seen their intended use yet.

For what benefit? It is not like commodity motherboards are expensive and unobtainable.

More for fun than anything. I ordered Logi-Pi and Logi-Bone FPGAs from Kickstarter and thought it would be fun to see if I could interface with the OpenCL on several different graphics cards at once. I have found a little information but nothing promising at this point.

My bank needs street address in Wanchai, Hong Kong

This is my banks requirement does anyone know this address?

I had a similar experience with my bank here in Canada, they think they need a street number because the software at the teller has a field for city country, street address. We put
city: Hong Kong, street address: Wanchai,Hong Kong,Country: China and it worked no problem. The two most important things are the swift and account number.

I'll try that and see what happens.

Just as an update for anyone that needs to know I found on the Black Arrow Forums a post that had this:

Just thought I would mention to anyone out there wondering...when I sent my purchase to black arrow I did a wire transfer and going into my bank was relatively easy the one thing the bank was wondering about was a more descriptive address for the beneficiary. The only info they give you when you order is Wanchai, Hong Kong as the address and all the other bank info is complete.
However, the payment processed properly and the sales team at Black Arrow was very prompt about discussing the status of my order. I was contacted by Julia from the sales department twice since the initial order and she is doing a very concise job.
They also provide their full address in the emails in case there is any confusion at your bank.
This is exactly where they are located:

Black Arrow LTD
Room 1701, 17/F, Henan Building, No. 90-92 Jaffe Road
Wanchai

Although it is unfortunate i could not pay by credit card this process was a lot easier than I thought it just took a trip to the bank. Guess I could have paid in bitcoin but I really don't want to let go of mine right now Wink

I've been searching around to find if anyone has made something like bitfury M or H board that would allow multiple graphics cards to be plugged and controlled by one computer or possibly raspberry pi.

If you are interested in something like this please leave a note.

I started my order on Blackarrow, I was going to wire transfer from the US. If I am reading the above posts correctly I can not do this?

If I can not, what do I need to do to move my order to minesource?

How can I make sure that I am not being penalized for network problems or something like that? Been using slush every time I mine over the last 4 years and it seems like I have never been stuck this long at the same payout.

ALT pool, auto switch, auto exchange to prefered payout
by

I meet someone in person recently that was telling me about an alt coin mining pool that mines the most profitable coin for you hardware and then will auto exchange for your prefered coin. I was able to find the site and thought it looked great, but I since lost the link and the guys number that told me about it.

Does anyone know which I am looking for?

Buying other miners used equipment?
by

on 03/10/2013, 00:25:34 UTC
A local miner (I assume) is dumping 50-100 5970s and 6990s on the market here. These are going to be sold from around $150-200 each and $300-400 each respectively. I have a couple of ASICs running but never really got fully into mining, other than burning up a few cheap ATI cards over the years and grabbing ASICs for the fun of it, I am thinking about buying these to run until I can get my hands on some of the bigger ASICs that are about to come out. Would you make the same call?

Re: Getting feet wet - SOLO ONLY hardware list
by

Interesting points, but I think still having a machine running solo specifically for the variance is a good thing because if I hit I suddenly can afford to buy some new hardware that I would not otherwise have. And if you read before I am a gambler ;-) I used to play online poker for a living now I am doing actual working and looking for a new way “out”.

As an update what I thought was  a 5870 turned out to be a dead card so now I have my 6450 mining on this computer @ 28.5 Mhash/s on a pool. It is the best working machine I have atm so I am thinking of putting this solo and switching all the others to a pool. Right now I am paying $0.08 per KWh and according to my power management software I am using 5.40 KWh per day….. I also have a Quadro 3xxx that is PCIe that may be dead. Worth using if it is not?

I already asked which pool to join anyone object to what has been recommended or it just doesn't matter much.

Also is the HD 6450 no good for mining?

Well I have my best computer going solo for now.

I want to now make a Ubuntu computer that is much older work for pooled mining and I will be able to add computers till I can see what kind of numbers I get.

So I have now;

Athlon 64x 3200+
Nvidia 8600 (AGP)
Ubuntu 11.xx

What's the recomendation for a miner to run?
