I've been working on a new anoncoin.net.

The new site is an one page only with as little text as possible, referring to the wiki for details and social media or forums for news.

Shocked Grin

I see you laugh much n00n.
How many months or years you need to release a simple one page site?
Other coins like DRK, SDC or more have concretized real projects and services in only few months.
ANC was created 16 months ago and since nothing concrete has been done. The "devs" have not even been able to do a simple update of the wallet based on new litecoin versions (fork).
ANC users are still using an old litecoin fork full of bugs and you laugh n00n. Shame on you little boy.

the post with the noise-to-signal ratio smiley you are quoting were deleted by a mod:

"A reply of yours, ..., was deleted by a Bitcoin Forum moderator. Posts are most frequently deleted because they are off-topic, though they can also be deleted for other reasons. In the future, please avoid posting things that need to be deleted."

thats really funny Grin

to answer to the statements that should have been formulated as questions:
the logo was designed by me and chosen by the devs.
the homepage is done, just not published by the devs.

Could someone add the box-info-template-thingy to the anon wiki?

So that an info box like here...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bitcoin

...will appear here:

Now that we are getting close to seeing Zerocoin in action, we are thinking about translating the (new) website and wiki into a couple of different languages. Based on the political climate in China and Russia, I think that we should probably start with chinese and russian. Given that bitcoin is becoming increasingly important in South America, I think that we should probably concentrate on Spanish as well. How does this sound?

So, first, are there any native chinese, russian, or spanish speakers in this forum that would be willing to help out?

Second, we would either like to pay a community member to do this, or put out an ANC-per-word bounty. However, given the amount of ANC in the donation address, this wouldn't be too attractive, at least at the current ANC price.... If you want to help jump start this initiative, think about donating ANC to the project.

Lastly, I would just like to remind everyone that we still have about 700 ANC in bounties open. Details can be found here on the Anoncoin wiki.

cool that you like it.
do you think the text is good or are we missing some important info about anoncoin?

like the Perro user a while ago, he wanted more focus on the anti-authoritarian, activist, community powered, non-corporative, movement kind of thing, and i think he has a point - but do you? after all you are the creator Smiley

just once more:

it would make the search engines happy if all of us added clickable links to https://anoncoin.net and https://wiki.anoncoin.net in our message footer here on bitcointalk.

the best is to make describing keywords like "anoncoin" or "anonymous currency" into clickable links, instead of a clickable URL "https://anoncoin.net", like this:

Code:
[url=https://anoncoin.net]Anoncoin - Anonymous Currency[/url]
looks like:
Anoncoin - Anonymous Currency

there are some limits to the number of characters in the footer:
- Activity: 0-29 = Newbie: No styling (including links) allowed. Max 50 characters.
- Activity: 30-59 = Jr. Member: Links allowed. Max 150 characters.
- Activity: 60-119 = Member: Unlimited length.
- Activity: 120-239 = Full: Color allowed.
- Activity: 240-479 = Sr. Member: Size allowed
- Activity: 480+ = Hero: Background color allowed

its also good to know that search engine crawlers get excited if DOMAIN A links to DOMAIN B that links to DOMAIN C that links back to DOMAIN A. this 3 (or more) domain link circle gives trust and high relevance to the domains as the search engine likes that the domains are existing in a bigger context. much better than "me and my friend" DOMAIN A to B to A.

with this in mind its good to add links to domains that links to anoncoin.net.

yes, i post this to get one step closer to Jr. Member Smiley

i created https://wiki.anoncoin.net/Anoncoin_on_Wikipedia for the future anoncoin article on wikipedia.

i was putting some info in an "infobox template" named "currency" but it doesnt show up, i guess it has to be added by an admin of the anon wiki.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Infobox
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Infobox_currency

the infobox is the box of info Smiley on the right:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bitcoin
we need one to!

please admin, add the possibility to use infoboxes in anonwiki, would be cool on the anonwiki front page as well...

Although I disagree with no-ice-please latest incarnation regarding the importance of zerocoin, I think he makes a valid point about connecting the coin to anonymous. The political clout that follows should not be underestimated and will sett ANC apart from the rest of the privacy-bunch.

It is not just an opportunistic question of political clout etc.

What are the intentions of the people who have been supporters of anc? Is the goal to always work on a more secure algo so they can secure their money? Or is it something more useful?

that wasnt much of a summary, im still curious - what do you think should be done?

My suggestion. First decide what anc is after.

If the goal is to cash in on the privacy craze then at least be honest about it. Be explicit "we intend to whore out however much is necessary to cash in". Then focus on marketing strategies etc.

If the goal is to contribute something positive, then also be upfront "we are making a currency by our own rules, and it's purpose is to further an established value system often symbolized by the guy falkes mask" etc.

Until it is clear what direction anc is going it is hard to recommend what it should do.

ok, maybe i wasnt clear enough, ill try this: what direction do you wish anoncoin to go and what should be done while going that direction? methods, goals and so on...
im not trying to be an asshole here, im curious.

With the exception of CryptoNote no other anon coin offers even a remote chance at real anonymity.  Nothing but gimmicks.

I'm pretty stunned at how many people are paying big money for CrapCoins for gimmicks like DARK, BitcoinDark, etc...

Cryptonote started with bytecoin. We already know bytecoin released fake names as its key devs, along with probably fake bios. The release of that first cn coin has huge questions around it, including whether its early blockchain is even real. Some of the promotional material of that first cryptonote coin was done in a way that copied exactly the presentation style of government projects. Not one early buyer or miner has stepped forward.

I don't know anything about cryptography but I'd be cautious.

So is your problem that you bought high and are afraid that you will never get your BTC back out of ANC?

Better sell now, before your prediction comes true and you lose even more.

How much ANC do you have and what do you want for them?

vlad was not defending anc. He was spamming about cn. Look at his other posts at the same time.

The problem, with anc, is that it attracted a lot of people by claiming to take a decisive stand on a hot button issue, then backed away when it seemed more important to try to be more popular.

Anc dropped its edgy logo in order to try to appeal to more people. Does anyone question that? It's like a politician that keeps reinventing his position based on polls.

Compared to most people I probably do not have much anc or any other currency including fiat, I'm near the bottom of the economic ladder. I think it may go up in price when the markets start to move again, but I think it is important to at least criticize anc devs if they are going to whore out every time they notice something that might improve their adoption rate.

Your comment "what do you want for them" is sly. If anc is going to shift with the wind in order to gain popularity then I do not wish well for the coin, even though I own some. If anc devs again decide to start stepping up and stop worrying about mainstream adoption then I will wish it well.

I prefer the mask, didn't understand why it was changed, but never worried about it because the point was to create
a functionally anonymous currency, and  I think the ANC devs are way ahead of the game.

Already we are going with I2P, and after adding zerocoin, ANC will market itself.

While I don't agree with the guy who seems to think that marketing is everything, I do think that the mask helps with
a certain crowd who is likely to want to use ANC a *lot*.

The "mask crowd" were most of anc's early supporters.

PerritoPeron
i like your engagement, although i dont get what you think should be done (not what shoulnt be done). maybe you could sum it up?

i think the dev teams reason to change from the Anonymous logo is that anoncoin is not affiliated with Anonymous, it isnt "their" coin. anoncoin can be used by Anonymous, or your grandmother. with this attitude its misleading to use Anonymous logo.

Anonymous is not an entity nor a group. It is a symbol. If a person or group supports that symbol they are only saying "I follow my own values, not any group". If a person or group avoids that symbol to try to attract money from a wider market they are saying something different.

Anc now is one of many coins that reinvents its image to gain more people. It stands for ambition, nothing else.

As for the zerocoin silliness, people who stand for nothing will fall for anything. I'm glad meeh is not hypnotized by zerocoin but I scratch my head over the numerous people who irrationally think it is some long term solution to anything.

that wasnt much of a summary, im still curious - what do you think should be done?

it would make the search engines happy if all of us added clickable links to https://anoncoin.net and https://wiki.anoncoin.net in our message footer here on bitcointalk.

the best is to make describing keywords like "anoncoin", "anonymous altcoin", "tor cryptocurrency" "anonymous bitcoin alternative" into clickable links, instead of a clickable URL "https://anoncoin.net", like this:

Code:
[url=https://anoncoin.net]Anoncoin[/url]

i have a limit of 50 characters in my footer, some people has more characters than that, maybe they are higher ranked than me?
then you can add https://anoncoin.net as your website in the profile settings instead.

its also good to know that search engine crawlers get excited if DOMAIN A links to DOMAIN B that links to DOMAIN C that links back to DOMAIN A. this 3 (or more) domain link circle gives trust and high relevance to the domains as the search engine likes that the domains are existing in a bigger context. much better than "me and my friend" DOMAIN A to B to A.

Imagine two coins and decide which is likely to succeed.

Anoncoin 1. The current anoncoin. Tries to emphasize a superior anonymity protocol, as many coins do. Tries to take a conservative approach, not ruffle feathers, as most coins do. Aside from working with monero in a mainstream political way there is nothing at this point that distinguishes anoncoin from any other coin except its history.

Anoncoin 2. A coin that takes aggressive political stances and overtly intends to be used for political purposes. Goes after markets in countries with tight financial restrictions. Top priority is to be used globally in any language, culture etc, rather than seeming to focus on people who hide money for criminal or comfort reasons or most of the other reasons Americans and Europeans most commonly might use an anonymous currency for. Primary focus is financial ethics with no regard or respect for national laws that contradict its goals.

Only one of those two coins would succeed. Anoncoin right now, with no real goals beyond making some money for its holders, is doing exactly the same thing as a hundred other coins. It is digital mediocrity like most coins.

Turning it into a successful coin that will survive only requires the devs and other visible people to decide thats the path the coin will take. Logistics, e.g. "how do you target x country with anoncoin", will be much more easily solved than " how do you beat darkcoin or whatevercoin in the race to a more marketable algorhythm".
Couldnt be better (for us or them) if we got supressed activists to start use anoncoin. Maybe you can work on this?

We should point out that anoncoin is made by hacktivists, community, or some better description (opposed to some buisness company) for the economically opressed/hunted/tracked/blocked people... )

Not good in chinese translation.

great! sounds like that you could read it due to how it looks? size, font, letter spacing, colors...
its google translate just for this purpose, the translation itself will have to be done in another way Smiley

is there anything else we should be aware of? is it better to translate to "simplified chinese" than "traditional chinese"? what are the dirreferences?
or should we say "mandarine"?

LuigiPablo,
thanks.
by the way, i like your political perspective in this tech part of the world, it made me think a little about the actual usage of an anonymous transaction system like anoncoin. when zerocoin is eventually implemented on top of i2p and tor - then what?
we should be thinking about getting people who really need anoncoin to use it, and grow from the roots.

anoncoin as tool for (with some random examples):
political groups (occupywallstreet.net, occupy.com)
activists (whyweprotest.net)
hacktivists (freejeremy.net, chaos computer club)
pirates (onebigtorrent.org)
culture jammers (adbusters)
alternative media (wearelegionthedocumentary.com)
leakers (wikileaks, freesnowden.is, chelseamanning.org)

geekz,
thanks,
i hope you didnt do to much work on the html, since i made some changes in the code to make it look ok on smartphone screens... well we'll see...

didnt really look myself, but is there any other wallet css files to copy and paste from? like the DRK or other?

i suggest we create a wikipedia article about anoncoin - in our own wiki Smiley
with this method we can get it good before we post it on wikipedia, and it will hopefully not be deleted again.

100ANC bounty for the best designed CSS for the qt wallet.

https://wiki.anoncoin.net/Bounties

please provide a short guide how to do the tech part or you will scare most designers Smiley
where do we find the css file?
how do we test the css on the wallet?
will the css look the same on all OS or do we have to do different csss?
is it pure css or are there images/other files as well?

SmokingSkull
good point, who can provide this info?
or if you look at it from an other point of view - who do we want to attract by adding their language?
chinese, korean, japanese, russian, hindi, arabic, persian, spanish, portugese, french and german comes to my mind.
by adding these languages to the front page (once again a good reason to keep the front page stripped - less to translate) and using the right words (anonymous payment system, anonymous online transactions, anonymous digital cash?) for the search engines (and adding anoncoin.net to foreign search engines like baidu.com and  yandex.com) we should hopefully see them coming and adding to the wiki in their native tongue Smiley

some thoughts before sleep:

maybe the wiki should be multi lang too?

there is no link to https://wiki.anoncoin.net/Anoncoin on the wiki front page(?)

there is no info about tor in the intro of https://wiki.anoncoin.net/Anoncoin, also its lacking links to i2p and zerocoin pages.

there is no info about tor under "Setting up your wallet for the first time" https://wiki.anoncoin.net/Setting_up_your_Anoncoin_wallet.

could be good to create https://wiki.anoncoin.net/Anonymity_of_Cryptocurrencies (maybe a good place to put the anonymity table i mentioned earlier) and link every "anonymous", "anonymity", ... to it - thats what its all about, anonymity.

come on guys zzzzz

All general info should be written so that an 11 year old understand.
All tech pages should be written so that tech people get something out of it, while the rest of us thinks "thats crazy".
a For beginners page could be great though, written for 6 year olds (with cats, flowers and more).

lunokhod2
sure, ill try to hide some language buttons in plain sight.
i just read some about multilang pages and the only thing that could mess up a bit is the readability of the font size in different languages, so i did this:
