May I know the reason/s why have you decided not to participate in ICO which are related to Virtual Reality services and trading platforms? hrmmm Huh I want to know also some pointers on how to determine if the project is a scam or will not last longer because I already joined some of them. By the way, what can you say about gaming like Enjin and Gimli? Thank you.

Trading platforms need serious expertise AND especially regulatory set ups. The funds raised will be wasted quickly if not extracted. Gaming and VR are very interesting, but one has to find the right teams and serious backgrounds, which is necessary everywhere really. I am also not sure the size if the markets allows for so many simultaneous projects. So most will fail. I would focus on healthcare and energy especially. Have a look at Prosume Energy and Grid+

Hello Hughcrypto
Can you tell me why you want to invest in Prosume.io and in Grid+
I have checked out prosume extensively and they have a really good team (all of them have been around for ages and in interesting positions in many arena's) and the white paper is well written. I'm less convinced about Grid+...

All your thoughts would be very welcome

Well, with Grid+ I think there are a lot of well known names from the blockchain side of things which makes it look better - on the other side they do not seem to have the same experience and energy expertise that Prosume Energy seems to have.

I think Prosume may have amazing potential - also because of the existing projects they have, and clearly it is a real project and not only based on marketing as so many other things.

Could really be something.

Thank you, that makes sense.

This is truly a great concept. Decentralisation and deregulation at the same time. This could have some serious long term implications.

Good list. I agree especially with Grid+ - I do believe Prosume Energy should be included there as well https://prosume.io, the European deregulation drive in energy coupled with decentralisation will be massive.

Re: Energy Based Projects

There seems to be a consenus among long term blockchain practicioners that energy is one of the most promising sectors due to size and possibilities.
Many impressive projects, this needs to be supported because the energy crisis will cause shocks to the world economy.
Energy reserves are few and we must create new energy.
such as solar, water, gas and wind energy must be used as a new energy source.

Absolutely. But it is not only about this. It is all about integration of blockchain technology and the general deregulation of the markets. Hence the upside for energy projects is massive. They need to be the right projects though with the right set up. I have only found Prosume so far. Hope there will be more.

Yes. 100 %.

Re: What do you think about the ICO environment in Asia?

After China's ban on ICOs it seems like there's also a possibility of other Asian countries following suit, including South Korea and Japan. I'm wondering what the community here feels about the prospect of ICOs in Asia. Please share thoughts!

They only did that is to protect people from getting scammed because with the rise of ICO. scammers are targeting it and they make their own fake ICO many have been scammed before.

They needed to do that due to the sheer amount of scams. People are learning due to it and learning generally anyway in Asia.

Look at the interest shifting from all the fake ICOs to real ones like Prosume Energy and Grid+.

Re: What are the 3 thing you look for in an ICO?

As the question reads.  For me:

-  The concept/vision - is it innovative?  does it solve a real world problem?  is the problem it solves something I am interested in?
-  The team - Size and experience.
-  How the coin relates to the concept.  Is the coin a key part of the platform?  Are other payment methods available to users, etc.

Here the first factor for me , always forces me to see the what the unique quality or concept is with the coin that is making it much better and unique from another coin .
Beside of this quality for me the better thing to analyse is numbers of the units of the coin that will be specify by the team before the launching .
Here no. Of coins really tell about the price of the coin , Because here if the no. Of units of the coin will be less then the price will be high performance coin and that will create a big difference in buy and sell price of the coin , and in that case we will be able to make small small amounts of bitcoin to that coin trading to make profit .
Another thing that I see usually is the background of the business of the coin's owner Because background is a big thing for the coin's future , if the owner of the coin's is rich person and also famous then we can expect better results from the investment in that coin .

Yes. You are right. Real backers with a real team are so important. I am trying to find recycling and energy projects. Most have teams with no relevant experience. And what you are saying about the coin amounts is VITAL. Look at Powerledger issuing tokens irrespective of amount raised in the ICO. So everyone will be diluted and no one can make money except themselves. And they must have been greedy, because their sector is the right one.

Prosume has a much better team, much better future, on the board they have Ernst and Young and sovereign wealth funds - and their structure is correct. Best one I have found so far.

Re: Too many ICO incoming, i'm lost in those !!

I'm just start into Crypto about 1 month, as people, i'm looking for a good ICO to invest with a dream that it will sucess and bring me some profit. But there is a lot of ICO incoming, some sound very good like HXT, Storm, Cryptaur or Electroneum. I'm really lost in those, i tried to do some research like people such as: their white paper, roadmap, v.v.. but i can't not found what is the best for me to start. Can you guys give me some advice or some trick to do a research.

Thank you.

Not all ICO are legit some are scam it might mark you a negative trust if happen that you join a scam ICO so therefore you should choose with extreme caution better you should check who is the campaign manager with their ranks and reputation. Hero and legendary ranks are the most recommended with no negative trust. Managers will review the ICO very carefully before they commit because their reputation is at stake.

Thank you for this - I see you have wepower on your banner - have you looked at energy projects in depth ?

If you are totally new to ICOs I recommend the following guide as a starting point:

https://coinclarity.com/ico-101/

I'm going to be writing my own personal guide to ICO investing, probably a bit lengthier than the one listed above, having followed the phenomena since 2014.

If I had to limit the criteria to 3 things, I would have to make some sweeping, all-encompassing generalizations:

1. What is the ICO attempting to accomplish that no other project before it has? How original is the idea? Is there a sincere reason why this project could be profitable and successful, or is it just a copycat / clone of another, previously successful idea?

2. Do a gut check on the legitimacy of the ICO. What do your instincts tell you about how sincere the ICO team actually is? Is there a whitepaper, a public dev team, a decent website and decent community interaction?

3. Who is backing or supporting this ICO? Does it have any notable investors backing it, preferably ones with a demonstrable success record? Is it just trying to raise funds from an anonymous public or are there any other companies / individuals signing their support for it?

This is just a summation of about 10-15 different things I research before investing in an ICO.

Thank you for this ! I am new and these kind of posts help a lot - will check your website as well. Great. Especially the third point seems to make a lot of sense to me. It seems as when the projects do not only have the backing of participants from the ICO world, but also the backing of people from the underlying industry, there is a real connection between the two sometimes which can be very good.
