Don't have the seed anymore unfortunately, just remember the pin
Ledger old web app is also not supported anymore - the server side does not exist...
I tried on a linux machine, but to my understanding, the last versions of Electrum supporting such old hardware were the 2.... and the 3... versions do not.
and the electrum versions (new) don't recognize the device, (older) give "read error" when trying to sign a transaction

can't update the ledger, and the old electrum doesn't work anymore while the new one doesn't support this old version

and yes, 20 minutes is not immediate - but way better than the 2-3 days for a wire transfer, and it'll improve over the few coming months to immediate approve / reject

We're Simplex (www.simplexcc.com), you might have seen me presenting at Coinsummit in London last summer.
And we've just started rolling out - started with cloud mining contracts at www.genesis-mining.com and www.nexusmining.com
Next month we'll start launching our integrations with crypto currency exchanges and brokers worldwide to enable anyone to buy bitcoin at any exchange with his regular credit card.
In the initial phase it'll take about an hour to get the approval, but in later months it'll be an instant approval action, just like other credit card purchases

If that happened, you would be the rich dad, and your kid only would have a huge balance in a watch-only address lol.
xD kind of, however it's a separate address, and we agreed he can take control whenever he feels it's safe
he understands the risks but doesn't want to go to paper wallet so this is kind of a happy middle.

I guess everyone's definition of mainstream is different. But I'll go off the assumption that you mean something like a normal day to day thing people do/engage in. Debit/Credit cards are mainstream for example.
To answer your question I would argue some of the biggest road blocks in no particular order a are volatility, ease of use, safety, and adoption. When I talk to people who don't have bitcoin and have no interest in it, it's usually one of these things they bring up. They will point out its too much of a hassle for them (too difficult) , they dont want their money stolen (not safe enough for them), they dont want money that goes down or up constnatly (volatailty) , and there is no were currently that takes bitcoin (adoption).
Once these roadblocks start getting overcome bitcoin will continue to go mainstream. It's my opinion that all of these roadblocks are solvable and are already steadily being worked on by various start ups and individuals. The only one that people can't really fix through innovation would the volataility issue but I would think/hope that starts to become less of an issue as the market expands.
Have fun with your lecture, may I ask why you are giving a speech on bitcoin ?

If you mean mainstream as in Mass population using it as a payment tool ,then I believe one thing will make it happen and that is the paying population need to be able to buy the exact same item cheaper by simply using bitcoin .
If online retailers or bick and mortar were to pass on some of the savings from not using paypal and credit cards and highlight this with a price comparison then the paying public would seek out places to obtain Bitcoin .
I truly believe until the public can see a clear reason to use it (the cheaper items ) them adoption buy consumers will struggle .
The main percentage that use bitcoin use it to store wealth just like gold and protect against fiat re-valuations by individual economies .
The current european/British legislation being implemented were depositor funds will be used to bail out banks should incentivise any depositors to think twice about holding cash in any bank .

i think, especially here, that admitting there was a problem, and that i'm standing behind the service is important
also - even more important i think is to openly tell about good things

it's true there are scams in BTC but there are some really awesome ppl here
so i run www.proxycoins.com
it's a P2P platform for buying things for others with your credit card and they repay you with Bitcoin.
i was hacked. just like so many other (and much better) systems. not awful, all in all about 1BTC damage (more luck than brains).
super annoying and depressing though, when you're building something new that's supposed to help the community
since there was a deal going on thru the platform, and a user already put the BTC in escrow, i told him i'm shipping his product anyhow - not his fault i got hacked right?
so this user, a price among man, offered to split my loss in the middle. effectively paying 150% on the product, sharing my loss just to support the system
really worms my heart. especially in contrast of the mother***ers who hacked and stole

do you think it makes sense to release an open source solution? i've created a working one over a weekend at a conference i run http://www.geekcon.org/geekcon-2013/bitcoin-atm/
