I used the re-flashed retail unit with no hardware modification for an hour or so.  The mini-USB supplied power.  The Avalon USB plugged into the side.  I removed one of the screws from the top of the Avalon and fed the USB cable through the slot, and mounted the TP-Link outside the case.

I later modified this unit, I removed a 0R resistor to disconnect the internal antenna, and added a 0R resistor to backfeed power from the Avalon USB connector, and added the antenna, and replaced the dead internal unit, and closed it all up.

Does the blue light stay on with your TP-Link?  If you push the reset button while it is starting up, does the blue LED flash about twice/second?
Are you trying to connect via the LAN jack?  I think the WiFi has to be configured.

Can't the original TP-link be send to TP-link for reflashing? Maybe for a small fee or so?

Hi

There are 2 more options under Cgminer Configuration.  you CAN NOT left them blank:
Before Batch3 Machine: Target Temperature to 50℃ and Overheat Cut Off Temperature to 70℃

Xiangfu

Easy as pie. Up and working. Thanks a lot. Will donate.

Hi

This is a late firmware release message Smiley, as you may know there is a new case design in batch3 machines. new case design come with new temperature sensor, this improvement make the temperature more close to the real chip temperature.

This new machine have to use this new firmware 20130723, please read the ChangeLog below for more information
  https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Avalon#20130723

This release works just fine on old type. if you are in summer, I would advise setup:
Target Temperature to 50℃ and Overheat Cut Off Temperature to 70℃ (this is my configure)

Also we have more overclock options in this release. just pay more attention on heatsink and PSU when you want do static overclock.

BTW:
Some people report that some fpga controller not working. you may want read this: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Avalon#Issues
the QFN re-work is not easy, you have to find the professional people doing this. (the ft232 have to clean before soldering again)

Again, please donate to cgminer developers.
  https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Avalon#Donation

Xiangfu

Hello Xiangfu,
I tried the new firmware on my late batch #2 machine.  In the API log I get: Socket connect failed: Connection refused. Reflashed to 20130703. Working fine again.
Do you think I need to upgrade the FPGA controller firmware? Because I have no clue how to do that... Huh

Is there anyone who tried except with watercooling to mod their unit to be less noisy? Maybe like try other fans or such? The noise is driving my kids crazy and I didn't think they could get crazier. Proofed me wrong...  Embarrassed

My units have been delivered to Bangkok. Signed by some CHATEE. I too live in Eastern Europe (Serbia). I called DHL to ask if someone can change the delivery address, and they said it's impossible, unless the one who sends it changes it. It looks like a scam to me, or I got the wrong tracking number. I never shared my tracking number with anybody.

I opened ticket #1263. Can someone from team AVALON take a look at this?

Thanks.

Aw, thats very bad. But I guess it is something Avalon and DHL can work out together. But you suffer from no income from your units.

woohoo. Just got two avalons and they are working! That was Feb18 (evening) order.

However I see some problems with one of them.

- avalon1 had firmware 20130419 when it arrived, but soon after I saw some problems I reflashed to 20130607
- avalon2 has firmware 20130607

avalon1 has problems. Sometimes the orange light is on - I suppose that's overheating? But that is rather not possible, because they are both 1 meter away, in front of, an air conditioner. Sometimes avalon1 stops responding - I cannot ping it. I am not sure if it is restarting automatically. I have a web-controlled power outlet, so I can do remote restarts. But still I would prefer to fix the problem.

any hints?

btw: Which thread was for this kind of questions?

EDIT: what means the column labelled "NMW" in Cgminer Status / Avalon?
And what mean columns labelled "HW", "Utility" and "WU" in Cgminer Status / Summary ? - are "HW" a hardware errors? Looks like I have plenty of them...

looking into it.

Could you look into ani76's case too. It throws a kinda negative vibe over Avalon. The man has suffered enough, imho.

My Avalon seems to be stuck in Hong Kong. It cleared customs there over 24 hours ago but has clearly trouble finding a plane. Huh

Boohoo mommy it hurts... clean it out.... waaaah

That's what I thought.

Still nothing useful to say, about sums up your life in my previous post.
Sup troll?

There is great usefulness in pointing out trolls like you, because as others have pointed out, you have been exposed as someone who simply tries to boost his post count with false news releases and annoying trolls like these:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=248625.100 - spams board with "RESERVED" to try to boost post count and credibility, all the while making false scammy announcement.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=238391.msg2526149#msg2526149 - the time when you tried to bet Yifu, the owner of Bitsyncom, that he was going to do a batch 4 because you saw a silly dropdown menu on the support site (and were wrong).

As I said, doucher, I call a spade a spade.  And anytime I see you trying to suck people into another investment scam I will point out your gambling and scam announcements so nobody will trust their money to you.  Others who value their money find that useful, even though you don't.  And now, I will be the bigger man and walk away from you, troll.

Not cool it is indeed to weasel in. However accepted by Avalon his money was, so delivered in reasonable time the goods should be. But strong is the force against this one.

今天收到订单消息了。

"Orders received today the news"

Umm, anyone want to do a better job than Google Translate? Tongue

Is he saying that we will get news today from Avalon?

According to http://www.mdbg.net/chindict/chindict.php it says "received order message today"

I am guessing he got his tracking info or something similar.

Tsja, als iedereen hier zijn eigen taaltje gaat spreken wordt het een enorme rotzooi....   Grin

I think I just broke the DHL website......  Grin

To be honest, the tracking on the website seems nonsensical to me. The times of checkins at different locations (in the past) keep changing. I found phoning them to be much more helpful in figuring out what was going on.

My 37xx order just got a tracking number.

Tracking now works, and DHL told me on the phone that it should be with me on Friday.

My trackingnumber still won't show up on DHL tracking.
Guess I'll just wait another day. No chance now that it will arrive here in Holland this week I think.
