Feature Request:

When using the benchmark feature to test Indicator settings, can you add to the Summary results the total earnings amount of a "buy and hold" strategy for comparison purposes? That way we could compare our bot and indicators settings versus a "buy and hold" strategy.

I often run benchmarks and see a positive return for the total earnings, but wonder if the return would be more or less if I was just buying and holding for that same time period.

Stefan,

In testing the new Price Difference Indicator, I think I'm seeing what some others are describing.

If my last sell price was 338 and I set my Price Difference Indicator to "Buy at drop price 100.00", then "Target Buy Price" should display 238 or lower. Correct?

However, my "Target Buy Price" is set to the current market Buy Price shown in the Currency Graph, for example 334. And Trade-Bot is sending Buy signals, even though my "Buy at drop price 100.00" has not been reached.

The Trade-bot Signals for "Current Buy signals" is also showing 1, when it should be 0 (again, because the "Buy at drop price 100.00" has not been reached, yet).

Can you explain what is happening here? Thanks

Stefan,

For some reason, the "Copy to Clipboard" does not do anything for me. The contents of my clipboard do not change. Selecting the data and Ctrl-C doesn't work, either. In any case, it would be awesome if you could add an "Export CSV" or something there.

However, if I can get the "Copy to Clipboard" working, that should be fine, too. If anyone has had an issue with this copy to clipboard issue and resolved it, let us know what you did.

Thanks!

Is there a Summary report of actual trades, similar to the Summary tab in the Benchmark window? This would be very helpful to see.

Now that burnin has officially stated that he'll allow his orders to be sold ( https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=179769.msg3067240#msg3067240 ), I'm offering up my 7 BitBurner Modules order for sale. Order number #4XX

Anyone keeping their chips in SebastianJu's group buys that want to purchase my BitBurner order, PM me with an offer.

I'll post this elsewhere eventually, but keeping it within the SebastianJu's group buys will make it easier for everyone involved, so I'm posting here first.

Order number #4XX
(7) Complete BitBurner Module with attached heat-sink
(1) CAN-BUS Stacking cable
(1) Shipping via Standard

From TerraHash's website on the assembly-only product order page:
"After placing the order, please send the relevant amount of chips to us. Instructions for sending chips will be available after your place the order."

However, no "instructions for sending chips" have been made available. We are still waiting for them and, now that it seems chips are shipping, anyone with assembly-only orders is understandably curious. I think an update with instructions for sending chips should be made available, as they stated.

Terrahash, we really need an update now, especially for assembly order which has chips already shipped (me)

- Where should chips be shipped to?
- Are you still sticking to two weeks turnaround time from the time when you received chips? Would your board design and assembly line be ready?

Assuming two weeks for chips in transit, that means I should be mining in FOUR weeks? (finger crossed Smiley

No Terrahash we really don't need to hear from you, because your website clearly states:

Terms and Conditions: Shipping dates depend upon when we receive the chips from you. Once we have your chips, we will ship your order within 2 weeks.

Also your website has your shipping address where to ship chips so that is covered also.

but that was 6 days ago.

Here is what you do:

Send a Support ticket with the Subject line:

Nope, the group buy hasn't received my chips yet, but I want to be prepared. I know TH's office is located at the address on the website, but what I'm wondering is if there are any "official" instructions from TH on where and how they want them sent.

I don't want to have them sent to one address only to find out later that they need them sent somewhere else. Or, to have them shipped and then hear from TH that they won't sign for the shipment until all their parts come in. Or, some other scenario.

I'm assuming I will have them sent to their office address, but I'd rather not assume.

Has there been any information from TerraHash about where, when, and how to send them chips from a group-buy for assembly only orders? I've opened a ticket asking about it, but haven't heard anything yet. I've also searched around the forum and the TH website.

Is anyone else doing an "assembly only" order with TH? Have they sent you any instructions on sending them chips?

I read somewhere that Terrahash promised to post some photos and a video of their test board successfully hashing and that these were to be uploaded last Sunday. But I did a quick search and can't find the pics or video anywhere.

Did they post these in a different thread? I'm also on their mailing list, but haven't received anything on this. I'm trying to keep up on TH developments, but haven't been able to read every single post in this thread.

Can someone post the links for the pics/video of the test board?

--EDIT--
Nevermind. I see now that they never uploaded a photo and video.

Okay, I've been reading through these posts and the PM, but can someone explain to me the benefit of going through the IPO versus keeping shares as they are? If we're getting paid the same either way, why switch over to the IPO arrangement?

Is the only benefit that there's no fee to sell my shares to someone else? Since I don't plan on doing that, is there another benefit worth setting up the accounts and transferring to the IPO? I'm honestly asking; no sarcasm here.

Does anyone have an estimate on shipping cost of assembled boards to the U.S.? I did a quick search in this thread and have been following it, but didn't find this info.

Related, what would I need to prepare for in regards to getting the shipment through US customs?

I didn't start this thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=227103.0, but my post in it has been quoted here. So, for those interested, BitSyncom has now replied a couple of times within that thread. He says an update is coming in less than a week. I have to say, it was good to hear from him.

Also, let me take this opportunity to say "Thank You!" to steamboat for taking on this project.

somebody called and woke me up in the middle of the night for this, so I'll keep it short.

1a. see the conference video, I thought that's an update; for the lazy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LY1xgGiejIc
1b. also got cornered after the panel and somebody took this : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UtVx26LlNXA
2. an update incoming in < 1 week, pretty exciting.
3. we fully understand there is problems with orders ( no way?! )
- we can not address these issues IF WE DO NOT SOLVE OUR PRODUCTION ISSUE then we can not DELIVER at all.
- so until that happens, get all your information ready and bump the ticket if it makes you feel better, or just wish to complain and blow off some steam. ( please do not create new ones though, usually looking at the support system ticket insolvency merging at least 5-6 other ones first... ).
4. this forum is a giant waste of time, get back to coding, go outside, hug your mother, do something,

lastly, food for though:

who says we control that address in the first place?  Wink

Thank you for this response, BitSyncom. No doubt, hearing from you has made a lot of people feel a bit better. We know (and generally assume) that you're extremely busy, but just this quick post means something.

Looking forward to the forthcoming update. Again, thanks.

The real Q is how to cash out 65K btc to pay for expenses. Even half of that is a lot to cash out. Look at the order book at Gox and you can see thats going to be difficult.
In the video of him at the Bitcoin conference, Bitsyncom said something about not using online exchanges to cash out. That not all transactions happen on exchanges. He also said that they do it in batches, not all at once, as the orders come in. So, when the first order for 10,000 chips came in 7 weeks ago, this would mean that he only converted the money needed to order the chips from TSMC (or whoever is making the chips). Presumably, he could do that with BTC from a different source than the receiving address.

Bicknellski, I assume you think I'm someone else who's already been posting on this forum, but no. I'm a noob who's been researching and reading through the posts on bitcointalk for a few months now. I haven't really participated in discussions, though, hence the low post count.

I wasn't equating BFL and Avalon, simply stating that they have both shipped a mere fraction of their stated goals. Ever since I first came into this forum and started reading all the horror stories about BFL, I've avoided BFL like the plague. I have no stake in the BFL game as I've not put any money into them, and have basically written them off.

This post from FCTaiChi is one I've been reading because I like the spreadsheet he's working on of miners in development: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=209750.0

He recently took BFL off the list completely, which is great for me because I was ignoring those rows anyway since BFL basically doesn't exist to me. Of course, FCTaiChi also extended the estimated shipping dates for any Avalon ASIC chip based projects, which I also tend to agree makes sense as Avalon's history says that shipping dates will not be met.

Bitsyncom sounds like he means what he says and is legit. I hope he is. I have taken some risk and purchased chips in various group buys. I would love to be wrong and see posts tomorrow from BKKCoins, burnin, etc saying they've received sample chips and can continue developing miners. But the silence is unnerving.

tl;dr i'm new on here, but getting into btc mining, so been lurking bitcointalk. For me, BFL = no. Avalon/Bitsyncom = maybe, shipping much later than stated, difficulty climbing, they've collected a mountain of BTC, I've preordered chips in some group buys, developers awaiting sample chips, but no one has heard from Bitsyncom. And we desperately want to!

Here's what we know as of today:

- Batch 1 Avalons still not all delivered, no response from Bitsyncom
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=157856.0

- Batch 1 badly damaged Avalon, Bitsyncom replied to say "that's unfortunate, we will work out a solution to ship this one back and send you another." and then no follow-up or response from Bitsyncom for over 50 days and counting.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=178168.0

- Batch 2 Avalons significantly delayed and still not all delivered, no response from Bitsyncom
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=167726.1200

- Batch 3 Avalons not delivered at all, no updates from Bitsyncom
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=203745.60

- Avalon ASIC chip purchases started over 7 weeks ago and no sample chips in sight, no updates from Bitsyncom despite Avalon website stating "30 sample chips will be provided 4 weeks into ordering per 10,000 chips."
Of all the Avalon ASIC chip group buys, no one has heard a single word from Bitsyncom about the sample chips

- Zefir's Batch 8 Avalon ASIC chip purchase issue has not be resolved or even addressed by Bitsyncom, resulting in ~$93,000 of the community's money being received by Avalon but no confirmation of the order given by their order system. No response from Bitsyncom for over 6 weeks.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=177827.660

At this point, there is no good excuse for the lack of communication on his part, especially considering the amount of money this community has spent to purchase his goods. These aren't technical support issues, either.

For all the sensitivity there is now to potential scams whenever an ASIC company pops up, why isn't Avalon under the same scrutiny? They've shipped a small number of units, but so has BFL. Is there any way to confirm with TSMC that they are actually having chips made?? So many developers are awaiting those samples.

Just out of curiosity, how many BTC would you need to make this group buy a Jupiter? Since the Jupiter price is less than the price of two Saturns, wouldn't you need less than BTC70? Wishful thinking maybe, but just curious.

Also, where is the miner going to be hosted?

How do I safely sell an item in person for bitcoin?
by
photon
on 06/06/2013, 04:05:38 UTC
If I'm selling an item in person for bitcoin instead of cash, what do I need to do to confirm that the transaction is completed and secure? I don't want to walk away after handing over my stuff until I'm sure that the bitcoin is safely in my wallet.

It looks like localbitcoins.com requires 3 confirmations before a transaction shows up in their online wallet. Bitcoin protocol requires that 6 blocks confirm the transaction before changing from "unconfirmed".

Is there anything else I should be aware of when doing a bitcoin transaction in person?
