We have made a new release that fixes those issues and recalculates all witness votes tomorrow at 2:00 PM EST.

We have tagged a release here that all miners / witnesses will have to update to.

 https://github.com/steemit/steem/releases/tag/v0.2.0

Updated cyrano.witness (witness and seed node). Would appreciate your votes. Thanks!

So...

two days ago (!) I tried to withdraw my balances. A few smaller chunks were successful (XPM, DOGE, DVC and fiat), but the bulk (BTC + BTSX) was pending when I last checked and hasn't arrived in my wallets yet. What's going to happen now?

[ANN] BitShares-PTS Dry Run #2 launched
by
pmconrad
on 10/12/2014, 19:58:16 UTC
Today dry run #2 of the new PTS client software has started.

We invite all interested parties to participate in the final test of the new network.

* Source code is available at https://github.com/PTS-DPOS/PTS .
* Genesis block uses PTS snapshot from 2014-12-09, scaled to 1 billion PTS.
* Everything else is final, unless we identify showstoppers during this run.

Among other things, we want to specifically test our new feature:

Secure genesis claims

It is now possible to claim genesis balances without importing private keys by means of the new "wallet_import_by_signedmsg" command. A description of the idea can be found here: http://pts.cubeconnex.com/index.php?topic=37.0 and a step-by-step explanation in our wiki: http://pts.cubeconnex.com/wiki/index.php?title=Secure_Asset_Import .

Build and run

Code:
git clone https://github.com/PTS-DPOS/PTS.git
cd PTS
git checkout dry-run-2
git submodule init
git submodule update
cmake .
make pts_client
programs/client/pts_client

Linux packages: http://software.opensuse.org/download.html?project=home%3Ap_conrad%3Abts&package=PTS
Windows download: https://github.com/PTS-DPOS/PTS/releases

Next steps

* Dry run 2 will last until Saturday Dec 13.
* The last block published to the old PTS network before the end of Sunday Dec 14 (GMT) will be used for creating the genesis block of the new chain.
* The new PTS-DPOS chain will be launched in the early hours of Monday Dec 15.

WARNING! It is advisable to withdraw your balances from the exchanges unless you have positive confirmation that they will support the new client!

Edit: Apparently, bter will honour the snapshot: https://bter.com/trade/pts_btc .

PTS is originally a PoW coin launched on 2013-11-05. You can still mine it until 2014-12-14.
Then it will be switched to DPOS and can no longer be mined. This dry run is a test run of the new DPOS-based PTS client.

[ANN] BitShares-PTS Dry Run #1 launched
by

on 03/12/2014, 22:13:13 UTC
We are pleased to announce that we have just started dry run #1 of the new PTS client software.

We invite all interested parties to participate in testing the new network.

* Currently only the CLI client is available, GUI will follow soon.
* Specs are as announced previously ( http://pts.cubeconnex.com/index.php?topic=43.0 ), but not necessarily final.
* Source code is available at https://github.com/PTS-DPOS/PTS .
* Genesis block uses PTS snapshot from 2014-12-02, scaled to 1 billion PTS.

Among other things, we want to specifically test our new feature:

Secure genesis claims

We are looking for initial delegates!

In order to achieve good decentralization right from the start we hope to find volunteers for running initial delegates from dry run #2 on. Details are described here: http://pts.cubeconnex.com/index.php?topic=48.0 . Please help us make the new network secure and reliable!

Build and run

Code:
git clone git@github.com:PTS-DPOS/PTS.git
git checkout dry-run-1a
git submodule init
git submodule update
cmake .
make pts_client
programs/client/pts_client

Re: [ANN] Official Sexcoin Thread - New MANDATORY upgrade: KGW Timewarp attack FIX
by
pmconrad
on 14/09/2014, 10:50:06 UTC
On my old ubuntu netbook it takes several minutes to start (hangs after "Loading db index... dbenv.open..."), but it comes up eventually. There's not much CPU use during that time, but lots of disk access. It's not significantly slower than other coins IMO.

Library dependencies should all be handled by the packaging system, so unless you deliberately broke them while installing you should be fine.

Again, what's in your debug.log?

And what about the proper development of the coin? Win/Lin/Mac client version, block explorer and so on?

The coin is being actively developed. We just had a hard fork to fix the KGW timewarp bug. See http://www.sexcoinforum.org/ if you're interested.

Find Download links at http://sex-coin.info/ .

Block explorer is here: http://sxcexplorer.com/

Guys, what about the equal opportunities on this.

Well... maybe if s/he (what's the correct pronoun?) could shave an sxc-logo-shaped hole into his/her beard? Photoshop doesn't count, btw.

Re: [ANN] eMunie (EMU) - NOT a BitCoin fork/clone - call for beta testers
by
pmconrad
on 08/04/2014, 12:33:05 UTC
Had no clue how to answer my questions about the technical specifications of the coin.

If by "technical specifications" you mean stuff like hash algorithm, block time, block reward etc. - these simply don't exist for eMunie because it doesn't work like that. Unfortunately, nobody except Fuserleer knows how it works instead.

Talked about the coin being it's own business and infrastructure (compared to other devs that release coins and let others do the work), so I assumed from that it wasn't open source.

Yes, it isn't open source. It will become open source some time after the launch (I think 1 year after).

Didn't see any actual devs there.

The (only) developer (Fuserleer) should have been there. Maybe you missed him.

Said IPO within the month.

I wouldn't bet on that...

Dodged questions regarding what IPO funding will be used for.

AFAIK the IPO funds will be used to stabilize the currency.

So if I bought more PTS today does it mean those do not count for Bitshares?

Exactly.

Also if I hadn't downloaded the new BitShares-PTS wallet would the PTS I had not get snapshotted?

The "snapshot" is actually just a point in the blockchain. It doesn't matter which wallet software you use.

Bter API "documentation":

perhaps your order has already been filled?

Re: error: Host not found (authoritative)
by

on 16/03/2014, 21:33:56 UTC
I am trying to compile an altcoin in my AMware hosted Ubuntu.  The xxxcoind already generated and it seemed was working fine.  But the problem is when I tried to get the current altcoin address by entering   xxxcoind getaccountaddress "" ,  It showed me the error message:error: Host not found (authoritative)

rpcconnect=192.168.11.*

rpcconnect instructs the client to connect to this address. Since 192.168.11.* is not an IP address it tries to resolve this as a hostname. Obviously, this fails.
