Re: Official FutureBit Apollo II/BTC Software/Image and Support thread

I have a question, is it possible to have a miner solo mine to my node that is not on my local network?

I have ddns setup on my router and port forwarding setup for port 3333

The issue I see right now is when I check if port 3333 is open, it said it’s closed.

I have friends who have miners, we all want to point our miners to a single solo node

Is that even possible?
I wouldn't say "node" in this case.....

But I will say this:

It is possible for miners outside of your network to point their miners to your Apollo's built in pool assuming you have your network setup to allow such.

Port forwarding and firewall rules on your router must be configured correctly for this to work. Additionally you must have your Apollo running in solo mining mode.

If that is all set then have your friends use your ddns in their miners by them using:    stratum+tcp://WHATEVERYOURDDNSDOMAINIS:3333
Yes it should be if your router/firewall is set to allow it. But I think that is why we have to use 8333 port forward is it allows the other nodes to connect to our node? I am sure there are others hee that understand it all better than me

yeah so I have 8333 and 3333 already port forwarded to my apollo node
weird that the 3333 port showed it was close yesterday but now it shows open, I guess all I have to is test now - will update when I get my results

thanks

just an update on this, the ddns on the route with no-ip and port forwarding did the trick without any problems.
if anyone is interested in solo mining with other apollos send me a dm

Is there a list of all blockchains/coins currently being merge-mined? I feel like that would be interesting to look at.

On a (possibly) related note: Does anybody know what the recent jump in pps rate was caused by?

We don't maintain a public list, but right now we are merge-mining: Bells, Canada eCoin, Dingocoin, Dogecoin, Luckycoin, Myriad, Pepecoin, Viacoin, Worldcoin.

The recent jump in PPS rate was mostly due to the rise in price of LKY.

any plans to payout in more options than just ltc and doge?
i would like to see bells or luckycoin as an option

Is anyone here successfully running BTCPay Server on their futurebit and getting it to connect to futurebit's node?  I'm having an issue and not getting help from BTCpay crew so was hoping someone here can assist.

I'm running btc pay server on a raspberry pi and is looking into connecting the btcnode to the apollo but no luck so far - just wondering if anyone else who went down this rabbit hole?

Good morning.  Perhaps covered elsewhere but could not readily find a resolution.
Got my Apollo II plugged in a few days ago and sync'ed to the current block but mining function is getting error message of [GraphQL error]: Message: Int cannot represent non 32-bit signed integer value: 4445094100
Any insight as to how to resolve?
Thank you.

Also getting this issue, any solution?

https://github.com/jstefanop/apolloui-v2/tree/dev

Is it possible to integrate this dev branch into a current Apollo Miner?
I tried to install the new Web Ui V2 on the miner using git clone and checkout dev via npm...Unfortunately I get an error message when building

whats your error?

GekkoScience Compac F | found 0 chip(s)

I have 2 GekkoScience Compac F both with  found 0 chip(s)

I'm currently testing on windows 11 on cgminer

I've updated the drivers using Zadig.
Windows recognizes the usb sticks
The lights are on on the sticks but still says found 0 chip(s)

I don't have anything special in my .bat file:
--suggest-diff 442 --gekko-compacf-freq 100

any ideas or suggestions?
are these sticks just dead now?

thanks

Re: Issue with GekkoScience 8 Port Base Hub
by

I've burned up quite a few of these by pushing the sticks over 580MHz. The old hubs seem to die in sections of 2.

The newer ones have a "reset" when you leave the port unoccupied for a bit of time. The old ones don't seem to have anything that I've found to bring them back to life.

I'd be interested if you find a fix as I've got several in a similar state.

so I'm guessing I have an old hub since the 2 ports are going out at once then? how else would I be able to tell?

it's weird though cuz I have 3 hubs and 9 sticks going at one point, all of the other ones are fine including the 2 hubs

do you know of any place where I can send my sticks to get them fixed? hub too?

Issue with GekkoScience 8 Port Base Hub

Original topic: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5431064.0

I purchased 2 GekkoScience USB Hubs from 419Mining back in April 2022

the first one I opened and used - nothing was wrong with it, the 2nd one I opened back in October, and one by one the powered USB ports started to not get any power

I've attached a USB reader to each port for testing and this was using a FutureBit ApolloBTC 200W Power Supply
https://imgur.com/a/Z0X2okL

And just today, all of the 6A ports are getting no power the only 2 that works is the 2 fan ports

My next step is to try to get the barrel-type power supply and continue to test, hopefully, it'll fix the problem.

Not sure if anyone else has experienced this with the GekkoScience USB Hub, really hope I can fix this hub

Now I'm noticing that the 2 Compac Fs I had on this hub are showing 0 chips found

thx in advance

-snip- but if it’s the capacitors I really need to research to see if it is or take it someone to be repaired
It has non-solid capacitors, the top will appear bloated if it's busted.
You might also need to get your PSU checked since it could be the issue why the ports are getting broken one by one.

so I'm using a 650w Corsair PSU there are also 2 other  GekkoScience hubs connected to it, they are running solid.
i think im going to test the power with the barrel, i tried to unscrew it apart and boy are those screws really in there almost stripped one

I don't actually understand with your problem but you can ask people in here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=40.0

There is dozen member can help you there maybe @sidehack , @kano , @cygan can help you there

Hope the problem solved  Wink

thank you, is there a way for the topic to be moved? or should i start another topic there?

This is common issue of the power supply since the 2 slots have power but the other 4 slots do not have power it means the power supply is not giving enough power bloated or busted capacitors that I know that cause this issue.

Yeah I’ve tired with another pc psu I had lying around and it’s still not working, I don’t know if using the barrel instead of the 6pin would make a difference, but if it’s the capacitors I really need to research to see if it is or take it someone to be repaired

Thanks for your input - happy holidays

The Pi won't be the issue here; in fact, it's much better than using a Windows host.
However you must ensure that a) you get enough power out of the ports and b) the power is dissipated.
The former can be solved by a good hub and PSU (which you have) and the latter by good cooling.

However, you can also aid both of those at the same time by lowering the power consumption by veeeeeeeeery slightly reducing the core voltage using the screw in the bottom right corner. Since the sticks are tuned to run at 400MHz, they may not be exactly 100% perfectly set up for the absolute maximum overclock and there might be some performance to be squeezed out using this technique.

thanks for this, which direction would i be turning? and which side of the miner would be the top?
Turn it clockwise. But really barely turn it; if you see the screw turn it's almost too much already. If that wasn't enough, you can repeat it 2 or 3 times, but I think you don't want to turn it more than like 1/8th turn from how it ships, at maximum.
The heatsink is on top if you plug them into e.g. the GekkoScience hub.

thank you so much! I finally got it hitting 500 Mhz - quick question what would happen if i moved the screw more than 1/8th from its stock position? I'm just wondering if I would be able to hit the 800 frequency since the hub has 6a per 2 ports

I have tried to install bfgminer on my raspberry pi for my moon lander 2, and although the file is there it gets ./bfgminer no such file or directory, Any suggestions.

pwd - then copy the path and replace the ./ in front of ./bfgminer
