Wow did I miss a lot in the last 20 pages while I was out... The great news is we have 220 pages in 2 weeks - absolutely incredible the size of the community - right up there with BC and Doge in theit early days. Anyways, all this FUD is ridiculous, like "RIP AC" really? LOL. What we are seeing now is completely normal for the coin transition from POW to POS - IT HAPPENS WITH ALMOST EVERY COIN. Multipools are now dumping as they believe this is always the most profitable time (remember their business is to provide BTC to their users and not hold anything long). After this correction this coin should make a steady climb to 10,000 sat IMO in the next two weeks. Don't be stupid and spread FUD cause it will make you look like a complete Noob.

AC is very healthy, has a huge community and a great dev. 0% premine, no IPO - Don't feed the trolls Smiley

multipools have already dumped in last 2 weeks

Re: [ANN][XCP] Counterparty Protocol, Client and Coin (built on Bitcoin) - Official

About the price:  XCP is glaringly undervalued right now.  Big holders are dumping thousands of XCP on poloniex to recoup their investments.

The price will rise back up to at least .025 BTC/XCP once the dumping is over to make the Counterparty market cap even with Mastercoin's (main competitor with no functioning DEX).

I totally agree with you, this is a great buying opportunity on poloniex at this moment as a few "early burners" get out.

Once the "early burners" are thru dumping and the DEX and web wallet are available, then we will see a rise up to the Mastercoin valuation level as the mainstream crypto community discovers how great this project really is!

And once we start to see sports-betting and issuance of tradable assets, probably 2-3 months from now, then the project could receive major national and international press coverage and there will be another nice rise in price as the wider world learns about it.

Counterparty has a relatively small float of shares and is deflationary, so when the price finally starts rising, it could rise extremely quickly!

These are some great ideas.  I've been thinking about what makes DOGE, Mastercoin, or NXT have higher market caps than Counterparty right now?  Despite Counterparty being the most innovative and functional.

I think it's all about the size and activity of the community (look at DOGE, nothing technically innovative).

We should host some giveaways and try to grow the community as fast and big as possible.  A large, active community will naturally attract asset issuers to Counterparty.  It will also naturally attract technical people to help work on the technical aspects of Counterparty.

The only reason Mastercoin is more valuable right now is it has a much bigger and more active community than Counterparty.

Size and activity of the community is important.

However, XCP community wants to promote its DEX rather than listing on many centralised exchanges. Everything is still in alpha stage. Everything should be ready by March, I guess - the web wallet, GUI, etc

You guys threw 2000 BTC into an unrecoverable address, because ...?

...deflating BTC makes it worth more.  Wink
Heh!  Wink

Good Lord.  Roll Eyes

Couldn't those have been given to Red Cross, Food banks and so on?

Top idea. Donate your BTCs to them

The best community is a community that consists of actual owners of the coin. For XCP this group of stakeholders is really small, they keep the price manually too high, which makes it unattractive for new people to join in. People that do not own coins, will not promote it either. Cheaper price, means bigger community, means better potential for long term. To all stakeholders: please sell some of your stakes for profit now, so the coin gets decentralized and the community gets bigger.

Are you serious? Go complain to NXT if you looking for a really small stakeholders group (up to 75% of coins in 60 people hands - start of Feb 14' statistics), moving the market at will.

Here you have more then 2000 people who risked more than 1.K5 BTC into a black-hole (no refunds here), solely based on alpha code and developers integrity.

Top 60 NXT accounts still hold more than 70%. Some initial holders when price hit 0.001 BTC. And all the 1 billion coins were given to 21 stakeholders. What a fair distribution!!!

Yeah i know, you dont want to be in it for short-term gains. But more people that didnt notice the launch would like to be shareholders... If the initial shareholders would cash out some of their coins, making like 5x profit or so, that would actually be a good thing. They can still remain to be a shareholder, just not with a bit smaller shares compared to what they have now. I think it would make the community grow largers which is better for realizing longer term goals and succes.

A decent volume of trade is taking place in poloniex, our 1st centralised exchange. But, XCP community wants to build the trades in distributed exchange. Also, many people burnt through blockchain.info. Most of them are waiting for webwallet to trade easily, as importing the private key and selling through counterpartyd seems too techy, atleast for me.

How many shareholders are in this coin. It really has to decentralize more to gain more support from new holders, the community is too small. Dump some coins to get new owners that will put efforts in getting to know and promoting the coin for their own interest.

Cant really say how many shareholders or coinholders. The burn was limited to 1BTC per address. The taint analysis showed 1 person burnt around 25 BTC, 5 or 6 in the range 11 - 20. A total of 2124.6 BTCs were burnt http://www.blockscan.com/burn.aspx So my guess is there are atleast 1000 initial shareholders. I burnt 1 BTC.

I and many other BTC burners are looking for long term gains not for short term. XCP is doing lot many things which others are promising. There is no hype. Developers are busy building a web wallet, website and wiki pages.

Wait until March for the real fireworks

XCP's market cap has now exceeded Mastercoin's!

P.S. Bear in mind, that the current valuation is WITHOUT a popular desktop GUI (bounty still being decided I think) and web wallet.

P.P.S. How long do you think it'll be before the media perk up and notice a new Top 10 (or even Top 5?) coin?

Please let it be after the new site is up.

Yea, things are moving way too fast. I wouldn't mind for value to stabilize at 0.01 or even below until the whole metric ton of work in progress things comes out:

- New site
- New design
- Web wallet
- GUI wallets for Mac and Win
- News articles
- A whole bunch of guides and FAQs
- (and the most important thing) real people issuing worthwhile assets and feeds for their projects

Is there an ETA for any of these projects?

end Feb/start March

Seems coinmarketcap has problems in getting price feed

I'm definitely a self proclaimed advanced user

Cannot wait to see that GUI working on my PC. I think I'd rather use a web based version of course, cause this whole blockchain reindex is insane. I tried 3 times already Cry

Its really simple actually.

Set bitcoin.conf properly
Reindex
Download counterparty prereq's
Build counterparty database

On a virtual machine, reindexing takes about 6 hours, and rebuilding takes about 3.

But its a one time deal, after that your set.

Patel bhai, not everyone out here are geeks. Buying and selling should be very easier like fill the order, click payment and receive coins.
