No, the funds raised on the ICO will be spent only on project development. The more money they get from the tokensale, the faster they’ll reach project development goals.   
A good marketing campaign would be useful for drawing attention.

What do physical laws have to do with it? A particular company owns all the rights, I saw a mention in the WP.

They will certainly attend other conferences in the future. This also increases popularity of the project and attracts new investors. This will become clear judging by the ICO results.
