As i posted previously we are talking with a few investors.
We stil aim for crowdfunding so it will not be an investor taking control of the project but at least for the media campaign we need support.
The best estimate at this moment is 1-2 months for the ICO.

To reach the MVP status is the hardest. It' like making the first million in business.
The Proemtheus concept is viable and received only positive comments.
Important is to make users understand that free-service is a trap where they trade the most valuable resource online: their profile and history.

About funding we must reach a balance: between an investor (concentrated power) and the blockchain model (decentralized / crowdsale).

This is just a delay, we are working towards delivering.

We wanted to do everything in-house so for the presale we did not employ any ICO-mercenaries.
Thus we had a low presale, below USD 6k. The money were invested in future marketing for the project because judging by the comments here and the emails we receive many are excited but we lack the marketing exposure.

Right now we are working to enlarge the team, especially advisors and attract investors.

The Proemtheus project is based on the idea of a decentralized economy applied to the email system.
In the current centralized email environment, the user profile is used to generate money. The flow of advertising money runs from the spenders to the data holders seeking/targeting the user profile but bypassing the users. The data/profile generators, which attract the money, are the users who receive instead only a free service like the common email account.
We think the user deserves better
Proemtheus is building a decentralized email system. First making the users independent and then offering them the platform to monetize their profiles and other online activity but for themselves this time.
In short: email accounts generate money from ads, billions currently harvested by others. Proemtheus will return the ad money to the owner. Also privacy from data mining and unprecedented security.

Data mining will not exist in a decentralized email system. Both account and server reside only on the user devices. Proemtheus will not be the holder of the email account nor have a backdoor.
Accounts exist INDEPENDENT.
As we mentioned in a previous post we intend to construct Proemtheus in such a way that the accounts function with or without our company.

In regards to spam well nobody has eliminated spam completely: filtration, filtration and filtration.
For the first 2-3 years we plan to rely on common techniques currently in place. Your account will be as spam free as any other account.
We have also in plan some new filtering options and inter-user collaboration for reporting spam.
Equally important will be the users from the community, developers - auditors - reviewers etc, that will be token rewarded for reporting.

We know the presale is low but are not discouraged.
From the past ICO's, we've seen the majority of the heavy funded projects showed just a concept and a website so we figured out to actually show something to the public.
We are working on, and plan to present the UI before ico, or the latest during ico. The reason is that for the average user this is the relationship it will have with the software.

Today it's almost impossible to build a software product just in your free time since you have to battle with the internet giants.
Every piece of support counts.

Short answer: in regards to the email, client and server, we plan to build all software from zero.
Because most of the time writing fresh code is easyer than debugging / modifying / adapting ;-)
And also it's better to have alternatives.
Our email software will advise you to store data on the your devices. Preferably.
But you will be also able to use any storage solution you wish (decentralized or not).

Regarding the distributed storage we believe in a slightly different approach.
Proemtheus will create a network from the user personal devices in order to backup or retrieve to and from any of them. This means storage space available on all user devices will be unified.
There will be the option for public sharing / renting of space, but based on a score system maintained by reviewers.

The main problem with decentralized cloud (using storage rented from other users) is that a user renting space has its same information stored on more than one location, in case the storage-user is not online.
For example user information is stored on 10 other devices. But if no. 7 is not online you cannot retrieve that piece and therefor use your whole data set. So the system needs to multiply no. 7, and in fact all the other devices, by a factor depending on the storage-user online availability. The user depends on the slowest moving piece of his data. This multiplying of data translates in huge redundancy aka waste of space and bandwidth.

So we think it's best to build the storage also from zero as you can see we think a bit differently.

Protonmail is purely a centralized provider similar to Gmail just that they promise you privacy for inbox and sent emails within their network.
There is one purely mumbo jumbo marketing speech about the datacenter being under 1000 meters of solid rock bla bla like you ever heard of a hard break into a data center. Sorry, a "bunker" like they advertise it.
Also there is one partial mumbo jumbo speech about swiss privacy. Switzerland is not the heaven on privacy and you can look at the banking system. People keep money in swiss accounts to conserve them as a backup, otherwise Swiss has signed an agreement with the EU that will align Swiss bank practices with those of EU countries, and in effect will end the special secrecy that EU-resident clients of Swiss banks had enjoyed in the past.
It's not a bad service but it's just a step forward, Proemtheus is talking about a leap.
And you must ask yourself if Protonmail is free, who is paying for the data bunker and everything? I mean doing a good to humanity is ok, but if it has a cost who is paying? And for how long?

Mailinabox is somehow what we have in mind but first of all I see it's rather complicated to set up for the usual user. We aim for GUI and clicks.
They provide only the server part and not the email client. We will provide a complete solution, and also many features for the client because this is the most important element for the average user. The client UI the user sees and works within.
They offer the service only for Own_domain.Users. We plan to offer the service also for users not having their own domain (you can see this in our roadmap).
It's pricey ... USD 12/month and i will stop here.

The business account is a totally different story as that email is governed by the company/employer rules. We will present a solution for this area but further down the way.
Proemtheus will not be a closed system, it will work seamlessly with existing email from any provider.
Migration will be covered. After all we emphasized about email being the core of each user we don't expect them to start over with an empty account in 2017.

As soon as we release the new website with more comprehensive details and the updated whitepaper we will announce it here. Definetly one should read it.

From what I have looked around Proemtheus is the first team to propose an independent email.
For our team to have an independent email means:
- decentralized accounts
- keep all user data private
It also means that even if Proemtheus will cease to exist you can use our software to have an active email account.

Proemtheus will not be a platform in the way you are calling it, meaning it will NOT be a closed system, but rather a different email that works seamlessly with the current email but in the meantime offer unique features.

In the case of email the existing system simply cannot be changed/improved because this will mean to cut off all free service offering companies from the pool of user data you know as profile. From exploiting this resource they make profits.
