Some components on circuit boards may be damage by high temp.. With my technique , it's a great opportunity to break the component...,so I use silver paint ... ;
In the orginal article mentioned, plus an additional parameter in BAT were as follows : cgminer.exe - scrypt-o stratum + tcp :/ / stratum.scryptguild.com: 3333-u worker-p xxx - gridseed-options = baud = 115200, freq = 975, voltage = 1, chips = 5 - hotplug 0
I have not add this parameter as it seems increase HW ERROR a lot, you can try yourself...
I bought 2 antminers from Bitmain during Chinese New Year, and they arrived a few days ago. One of them's a little sketchy though... It has thermal paste on almost every screw and around the edges of the board. A little different from the others I have received. I could post pictures if you want to see what I'm talking about.
The main problem with this board is that I cannot get it mining; whether that is a network problem or a blade problem I do not know.
I've set up several ants before and I am an advid linuxr, so I assume it's the board's problem and not me.
I scanned for a network in the wifi tab, and it found mine with about a 40% connection, which, I assume, is decent. It's adjacent to my other ants and they work, so I assume it's not a distance issue. It creates the new network successfully; however, it says it has a 0% connection with no data up or down. My other miners connect and start running as soon as I complete this step.
My mining pool is configured, my LAN is DHCP, my WAN is static with 8.8.8.8 for DNS, I can log in to the WebUI with no issues. It's configuration is essentially the same as my other miners; however, this one is not working.
Any suggestions on how I can start her up?
I've already contacted Bitmain, and I am waiting their response on exchanging this one for a new one. In the meanwhile, I would like it to mine somehow through my computer's connection through Ethernet. I don't want it sitting here like a paperweight until I get a replacement.
I'll tip anyone $20 or more who gives me some working advice.
Kind regards,
EDIT: Some additional info: Every time I turn it off, it forgets my network and my time synchronization, even if I hit save and apply; however, it remembers my mining configuration. Also, the C31 light emitting diode blinks consistently with a frequency of a little under 1 Hz. No LEDs are lit on the blades.

←For me, i hv tried to change "time location" and click on "save and apply", but cannot change the seting...
Ok, so I was able to factory restore by following directions on here, but now I am back to my original problem.
I am following the directions in the op, but when I manually input the ip address into IPv4, my computer cannot connect to the internet. I can interface with the antimner without changing my ip settings by navigating to 192.168.1.99, but it is not mining after I input and ave my pool settings.
What's your modems IP address?
Go to the ant miners network config page, make sure the gateway (your modems ip) is correct the primary DNS should also be your modems ip, go to the ant miners network diagnostics page and run both ping and DNS tests, if they work you're antminer is connected to the internet and good to go.
I've been seeing similar issues.
Got the Antminer S1 yesterday - ran it thru setup - thought I had all the config correct - and it just would not connect and start mining. So I started screwing around with the network settings and at one point I setup the LAN interface and I think I clicked on the bridge option - and lost all connection to the S1. At that point I figured I had botched it up pretty good - so I tried to reset the machine. That was another exercise in hair loss and copious swearing as I just couldn't get the thing to reset. Finally I got that to work - and started over.
Finally - after going thru some router settings, opening up some ports - etc - I got the S1 to connect and start mining.
Question though: The S1 Miner Configuration page has places to enter info for three different pools. Currently I'm only working thru one pool (Slush) - should I fill in all three places with the info for Slush - or just use the first one?
its normal, the antminer config pool management as failover, that means if the first pool cannot connect, the miner will connect to the second pool...
Does anyone mine with their Antminer in their bedrooms/room they spend most of their time in? Does it get too hot? Will you be able to have multiple Antminer's in your room in the summer?
I think if u has installed the second fan, the temp should be OK, u can try...
If u want to put it in yr bed room, i suggest u replace a fan with lower Db, i will do that later..., after doing, i will report...
What kind of improvements do you see from adding a 2nd fan?
I'll go out on a limb here and say: It runs cooler.
How cool? I have also install 2nd fan. I have found one same as orginial...
After installing, hot air is pulled by 2nd fan, but from management page, show same temperature >:(and the rpm of the 1st fan become higher..., form 1900 to 2200?
Adding fans won't do too much unless you're maxing out the stock fan... all it will do is make the stock fan slow down due to pwm. If you add fans, it cools the boards and the temps drop and the stock fan will slow down until the temps rise to 40o again.
If your fan speed has increased since adding the second fan then it sounds like it's causing more blockage than increased air flow.
If the chips reach 50o and the stock fan is running at over 3000rpm then it would be time to add fans to keep it down to 400 again.
I've added fans to my overclocked unit, but that's only to keep it quiet and I've added them on the outside blowing straight on the last 3/4 of the chips, it seems to produce better results
EDIT: P.S. if you want to drop the temps, then just remove the blue wire from the fan connection as mentioned further above and watch the temps drop to 30o as the fans spins up to crazy speeds
Thanks for reply, i was install this:
SCYTHE glide stream 120 36.3dBA 108.83CFM
As i think more cfm is better, then change to this:
The first one reduce the rpm, but the second increase the rpm..., i don't know why...?
Anyway, i have buy some heat sink online, and when the heat sink arrive and i install the heat sink to antminer, i will change back the fan to the first one or this:
14cm Viper R Fan Max airflow 109.55 CFM Sound level 7-21.7 dB(A)

I have added a second fan for pull the hot air from the machine. I use a fan with PWM, the speed is slow and cannot show the RPM in the web management page. Then I use a connector directly connect the fan to molex, the fan comes faster...
2 question:
even use a PWM fan, still cannot show the RPM?
the PWM function cannot work for second fan??
the second fan appears to be controlled by PWM in mirror to the primary fan (w/ regards to voltage, not RPM) and you wont see its speed in the stats.
