Re: Official FutureBit Apollo II/BTC Software/Image and Support thread

I just received an older Apollo BTC  Batch1 - batch3. and flashed it  to 2.0.6.

It is up running hashing to a pool and loading the node.

Looking over the comments in this link I begin to wonder if I should be looking for a 2Tb NVME to replace my 1Tb in the near future..

If so should I worry about brands and speeds?
And is it just a simple swap-out?

TNX

I just answered my own question.
From a fresh format of the 1Tb NMVE in my Apollo BTC I ran out of disc room after loading just over 85% of the chain.

So the question now is will the Apollo BTC support a 2Tb NMVE or will I just not be able to support a node?

Where do I go from here?

Hmmm. For reference, I show 25.66% remaining on my 1 TB NVME that came with my Apollo II (as of today with a blockchain size of 665.74GB).

Same here, still plenty of space left on my 1TB

Third time and it is full in the mid 80% again
The first time I ran it out of the box and the next two times I used the Apollo BTC format function.
Each time the used % and free % look great up till it gets into the 70% used and then all of a sudden it is clear that there is no longer enough space remaining.

Where do I go from here?
I always remove all disk partitions, prior to reformatting any storage devices.

2.0.6 is finally merged on production and doing a public test before pushing to everyone next week

If anyone wants to test ssh into your device (futurebit/password you set for your dashboard) and

Code:
cd /opt/apolloapi/backend/

sudo ./update

to manually force an update

reminder can take up to 20 min to rebuild the system and it will auto reboot when finished. Close your UI tab and clear cache so your browser does not load the old version.

Please shoot any build issue or bugs...this will definitely fix all the graphql errors small number of users have seen

Sorry this took way longer than planned!
Do you have an idea of approximately when 2.06 will be ready for prime time?

Re: Remote Access to the Apollo II Miner

Guys/Gals
Does anyone have any experience with remote access to the Apollo II??
I do a lot of travel and really need to setup remote access to my miner and thought I would ask if anyone has done this previously before I start down the rabbit hole (maybe save myself some time and pain  Smiley )

What software did you use?
any tips/tricks on the process.

Thanks in advance Smiley

Take a look at a post from Sledge0001 here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5492150.0

About 2/3 of the way down of his pics he gives a good example using the addnode=IPADDRESS and listenonion=0 commands

Cheers!

Thanks again, this will help, and I will wait until its fully sync'd before adding. I do see once the number jumps to 11 connections then drops back to 10 in a short while? Did you add the "listenonion=0"? if so what is the reason for that?

Hey I had some issues with the Apollo2. After a week of running fine, the system wouldn't come awake when logging in so i had to turn it off by switch. It came back and had more freezing issues so I attempt to flash the sd with v2.0.5 mcu2. But Etcher gives an error message when I try to flash, "Attention Something went wrong. If it is a compressed image, please check that the archive is not corrupted. Can't configure or trim a source that is not randomly readable, skipping".  Any info on this error would be great.

It's an issue with etcher, download the previous version linked in the flash guide on the support page.

Verified I was using the linked version, balenaEtcher-1.18.11.dmg. Downloaded both etcher and mcu2 again to be sure. Unfortunately still getting the same error message from etcher when attempting flash.

Have you tried a second microsd card?

I got a second memory card programmed that fine and system is running stable.

I had more problems with the supplied microsd card.  Maybe the card is old. Only 16GB. The newer card has more memory and is much faster than the original supplied microsd card.

Sounds more like an image corruption issue, I would checksum the image and make sure the download didn't corrupt or try and re-download the image.

I tried a few of the suggestions, erase/reformat the original card as well as trying a new sd card. Still the same error shows. I even downloaded the new etcher version to compare the errors and my issue is a different error message.  I have tried to download the mcu2 image ((apollo-2-mcu2_040624.img.xz) from multiple browsers, same result unfortunately. I ran checksum and I get the correct string too! Etcher won't let me copy paste but below is the top 25% of the scrolling error message. Thanks for the replies, stuck for now.

Edit: After reading the error message back a few times it states a possible corrupted archive but also the source is skipping the application. Maybe something with permissions on the Mac? Going to explore that route for now since I think the checksum shows download is fine.

apollo-2-mcu2_040624.img.xz is a zipped file. You should unpack it( Use 7-zip) and use balena etcher to flash  the unpacked file ( apollo-2-mcu2_040624.img)  This is after you recreate and format the SD card.

Before reflashing I always wipe the partitions, recreate the partition and then format the card?

There is a max connections setting, on the node. What would be the recommendations for setting this?

If you cannot connect remotely again, try to access the miner, with a PC on the same network, as the Futurebit. If this fails, then try to ping it and last use a IP scanner to see all the devices, within your netwok.

What was that website that “jstephanop” used to format the LTC miner thumb drive in FAT?
I have been using mini tool partition wizard.
Delete the partition then create the partition in fat32 then format the partition in fat 32

FYI............. I received this email this morning.

Subject:   FutureBit Apollo Batch 2 Production Update #2

Batch 2 Production Update #2

Please check your order notification email and verify your
shipping addresses (especially for orders placed in May), if
you have moved or changed address please send us an
email ASAP

We are Shipping!

Hey all, quick update for status of pre-orders on Batch 2 Apollos. We finished
all PCB production last week, and received all our cases as well. We slowly
started ramping up final builds and testing last week, and started shipping out
some Standard + SD Card units as some of you know!

This coming week we will be at full line capacity for building your units, and we
will also be receiving our first Batch of APU-200W power supplies on Monday,
so people that placed orders for full package in May will start seeing shipping
notifications this week!

Shipping schedule will look something like this:

-7/22-26: Almost all May and June orders of Standard and SD card units will
ship this week, and most of May Full Package unit orders
-7/29-8/2 Rest of Full Package Units orders placed in June/Beginning of July
should ship in this week
-8/5-9 Tail end of pre-orders (placed in the past few weeks) will ship (you guys
will have waited for less than a month so we pushed you guys back so people
waiting 2+ months get theirs ASAP).

Once again a big thank you to you all, I know your all anxious to get your units,
but we are on our final leg. Everyone on the team appreciates your patience!
Please hold any shipping update emails until after the week your unit is
supposed to go out based on the shipping schedule above. Everyone will
receive a shipment notification email once your label is created. If there are any
changes we will also update you guys.

Happy Mining!

Re: [BATCH 1 SOLD OUT] FutureBit Apollo LTC Official Order Thread
by
rayday11
on 19/07/2019, 18:13:41 UTC

If I read that right - orders w/psu's should be shipping by the end of this week - so right around the corner.

@jstefanop if you need any help let us know - some of us have spare time on our hands and dont mind helping out Smiley

Thanks for the offer, but it has been a waiting game for the power supplies (unfortunately those are coming from China). We have been shipping out the Standard/SD card units this week, and looks like our first shipment of power supplies is going to get to our Factory on Monday (7/22). So people that ordered a Full Package in May should have theirs go out next week.

We should be done with the bulk of pre-order shipments by the week of the 29th.

Great.
Thanks for the update.

Wrong thread. But here's your answer

quote from jstefanop

Here is the update email for anyone that ordered and didn't see it (which was about 25% of you, and instead of calling me pathetic a 5 second inbox search you would have found it). Im also pretty active on twitter and on here with updates if you miss the email.

https://mailchi.mp/f44e011db3c1/introducing-the-futurebit-apollo-383755

Also I understand the frustration when you order something that is not cheap and dont get it on the expected timeframe, but two weeks late in the pre-order world is pretty outstanding. I do my best to estimate when my supply chain will have everything ready, but the Apollo has dozens of different parts from diffrent vendors and its impossible to sync all of them perfectly, especially since we took the time to redesign the case and many other parts of the overall customer experience (not to mention n completely new power supply design which I spent more time than I care to admit on).

Obviously I need to work on this and want to get to the point where Im shipping early, but its a far cry from the 90% of project on here that dont ship anything or months late (I think those are more a fair designation for pathetic). And to be clear, I operate FutureBit as essentially a non-profit to get as much hardware out to as many people as possible...this means I dont have a budget for marketing, sales, customer support, and time to write up updates every day...wish I did but then I would be charging 600 bucks for the same product (or selling my soul to greedy investors).

BTW All PCBs are done at our factory, and now its just a matter of getting in all our cases and assembling/testing and shipping them out. First units are going out in the coming days, and PSU is due in at the end of next week which is when the full package orders will start going out
