Re: Reality of Ripple - centralized or decentralized?

Am I wrong os Stellar is the descentralized Ripple?

https://www.finder.com/ripple-vs-stellar-lumens

'Ripple vs. Stellar: How they work
Stellar was initially based on Ripple systems, with the aim of redesigning the global economy for more inclusiveness. But citing the complexity of the system, Stellar later redesigned itself with a brand new system of its own.

Both facilitate international payments but do so in very different ways.'

Lumens in Stellar are issued in the "giveaway" system that is not pretty clear to me.
Bottom line, Someone control the distribution.

Again, People think decentralized is the way the transactions are processed. This is wrong.

99% of people don't know what is centralized/decentralized, most of the times they make a terrible mistake thinking decentralized means the transaction is done by a 3rd part (ie. nodes in the network)
Decentralized / centralized can be defined (not limited) by:

1) Governance: Who controls it ?
2) Issuence and Distribution: Who creates & who sells it? mining? Someone create (from nothing Smiley ) and decide how much and when to "dump" it.
3) Custody: Where it is kept,
4) Audit system: How do you make sure the thing really works (Public / Private)
5) How transaction is processed: Self explained. Public Nodes / Private system.

To be decentralized all 5 items has to be achieved in such way (4,5 : Public)

Let's compare:
USD
1) US Central Bank (FED)
2) FED
3) Banks / FED
4) FED
5) Banks (Private)

Bitcoin/Ethereum/zcash/Monero/ etc:
1) Developers, Miners (If you don't like what is going on be free to fork it, the best idea wins)
2) Mining
3) You
4) It's all in the Blockchain
5) Miners/Segwit (all public nodes)

Ripple/Stellar/Iota/Neo:
1) Private Company / small group of people (damn that's a game over for me)
2) Private Company / small group of people (game over again)
3) You
4) Public Ledger? (someone confirm please!)
5) RippleNet (There are talks about they will open to public nodes)

The two more important items (1 and 2) to define a decentralized system is not achieved by Ripple, Stellar, IOTA and many others.
Honestly in my option all crypto that can't be mined then it will have a group of people who can manipulate it at any time, this include the PoS (rich gets rich theory)

Please let't me know what I'm missing.

Yobit.io??, I guess you accessed a fake website, the real yobit is yobit.net.
I checked both the sites now and io one is a fake one , be careful out there.

No according to yobit's twitter account yobit.io is its backup domain. It's legit.

https://twitter.com/yobitexchange/status/793036105486663680

Regarding the OPs delayed transaction someone made a post explaining that the ethereum network is so overloaded that all the exchanges are having problems with transactions. He posted this image to make his point.

https://i.imgur.com/SIY8VOs.jpg

Yobit should have at least answered his support ticket by now, but they are probably snowed under with them.

I understand the Ethereum network is overload, I get it the "safety" in hold up this withdrawal due the amount involved
however no answer from support for 1 million dollar case in 4 weeks then I have to raise a red flag and turn it public so everyone will know with who they are dealing with.

Any hint?

Yobit, 1 Million Dollar, 717 ETH withdrawal Pending for Weeks
by

What happened:: Withdrawal was requested in Dec 19th, 2017

Scammers Profile Link: http://yobit.io

Amount Scammed: 717 ETH / ~ 1 million US Dollars
Payment Method: Withdrawal Request
Proof of Payment: http://tinyimg.io/i/7IAP9YL.png
PM/Chat Logs: No Reply at all, tried Support tickets, Twitter, Chat.
Additional Notes: I understand it is a significative amount and all I want is YoBit to cancel the withdrawal and I'll do several small withdrawal in different dates however they are not interested in reply to support ticked.

Question is: If they don't care about 1 million dollar problem will they care for small amounts?

UPDATE: Got the coins few days after this post.

Please let us know what is this. Huh Huh Huh

Important too: What is the flag for this card? v1s4? M4st3r?

Hrm, so many newbie users suddenly appear swearing that it is not an exit scam.... no, not suspicious at all...

Support answer me at facebook (support guy was very nice), they said they are working on it and they will have a solution soon, what is not clear for me if is I just wasted 100 usd on an express plastic card or not  since mine arrived 2 days ago. They will replace the cards? They will do it in express mode for those who payed for that?

You right, Support is very nice. I had few hundreds in the USD wallet and they returned it to my BTC addr as I requested.
They are working hard to fix the issue and I can tell you, This is by far the best support I ever had in digital currency, different from others that take weeks to reply and don't tell you the truth.

I hope the service comes back ASAP so I can use UQUID again. This issue just make me confident it is NOT scam.

So I'm a luck newbie!!. You decide.
I had some money in UQUID USD waiting to transfer to the debit card, the issue came for 1, 2 days then I thought as we always first think "I lost my money".
Came here in this thread to find out some info and I found one member seems to be a guy from Uquid support team.
Sent him a pvt asking for help and he did.
My money is back into my BTC wallet.
So What can I say? All I can do is tell you what happened I hope you can get your money back like I did.
Not scam for me, unfortunately it may end up scam for someone else.

But you right, newbie stories are suspect above all.

Is Poloniex gone??? People can't withdrawal, Support is gone.
by
rb3rg
on 20/06/2017, 12:30:02 UTC
It seems Poloniex is gone as most of people aren't able to withdrawal their funds.
Once one make a withdrawal it will be sent to "Awaiting Approval" and there stays forever.
you will find in Twitter, facebook, forums, etc that people are awaiting over 20-30 days without any answer from the support team.

Some say who has high limits account (verified) aren't having problems but I can't confirm that.
Pennies withdrawal also might go through however anything above 0.1-0.2 BTC will be stuck in the "Awaiting Approval"

Do you do Poloniex?? Then go ahead and try withdrawal 0.2 BTC to find out.

Good luck.
