Re: what happens if Bitcoin dies
by
richardeames
on 04/06/2019, 18:05:01 UTC
we all know that Bitcoin is the best crypto right now.
and many people argue that Bitcoin is the main crypto that greatly affects the crypto market.
my question is, if Bitcoin dies in your opinion, what will happen to crypto and what do you think can make Bitcoin die?

bitcoin dominated more than 50% of crypto market share so it will be a major catastrophe for crypto if bitcoin falls. Bitcoin die if majority of miners shut down its operation and large holder sell of their holdings, but i dont think that will happen because more and more people begin to capture the value of keeping bitcoin as store of value medium.

Re: KYC now required

To prevent scams, spam, alt accounts, and similar abuse, and to promote an environment of trust, all forum users must now submit know-your-customer (KYC) identity info to the forum here. As we all know, Bitcoin was built on the principle of "if you have nothing to hide, what's there to fear?", which is why the block chain is a public ledger. And Satoshi even famously said, "sacrificing a little liberty for increased security is the foundation of blockchain technology."

Additionally, you can get extra-verified by posting a selfie in this thread. (Upload the image to imgur or something first and then use the bbcode [img]DIRECT_LINK_TO_IMG[/img].) Make sure it's a very serious selfie. After posting a selfie, our advanced verifAI™ algorithm will choose whether to verify you or not, and will also assign you with an accurate verification assessment to be displayed next to your posts.

i think in bounty hunting & OTC/loaning services context, this is quite a brilliant idea and a really a needed one. We have seen countless frauds were done by scammers because there is nothing to lose if they caught doing scams.

Re: Will cryptocurrencies be able to use for payment?

Lots of blockchain team have developed blockchain and cryptocurrency for payment.

Will cryptocurrencies be able to use for payment?

Will it be useful and convenience?

Which coin do you think the best for payment in the near future?

off course, originally bitcoin was made for peer to peer payment. If cryptos are widely accepted as a method of payment anywhere by anyone, you dont need to go to the atm or bank to transfer wealth to somebody. You dont need to pay for administration fee, or you dont have to worry about holidays. All you need is internet. Maybe the best payment coin will be the one whose speed is fast has negligible transfer fees.

Re: Market correction before bull run
by

on 01/03/2019, 06:14:53 UTC
The cryptocurrency market is presently in a correction stage, correcting its prices because of the massive bull run that happened late 2017 and the correction period is always longer than the increase period. Veteran's in the market understand this very well and are focused on buying the bottoms but the newbies are the ones complaining and nagging about the market prices.

I heard from experienced trader (Peter brandt) that when an asset fail its parabolic move, it will inevitable goes to correct at least 80% from ATH. But i am  worrying about that because as long as crypto progressing in tech, use case, regulation and market participants (fundamental) prince will follow.

What do you think will happen with the cryptocurrency in the future?

My prediction is crypto will reduce the use of physical fiat money. Fiat itself will be digitized to reduce resources (paper, ink, etc) needed to create it and for the sake of simplicity of use. A lot of interesting thing could be happening in the near future.

Steps to Grab Cryptocurrency Historical Data for Free
by
richardeames
on 28/02/2019, 06:24:36 UTC
Hello everyone, this is my first post. I would like to contribute to the community by showing two simple ways to obtain cryptocurrency historical data by straight download or scraping using python.

There might be a need to save cryptocurrency historical data for various purposes, whether it for predicting price movement, feeding your AI algorithm with training dataset, etc.

You might find a crypto historical data by simply googling it, but often the results are either outdated, incomplete, or requiring paid subscription. Here are some easiest way to download updated crypto dataset for free :

I. Straight download :
   1. open coingecko.com
   2. choose the coin of your interest
   3. click "Historical Data" tab
   4. click "Export As" tab near the bottom of page, choose the desired format (xls or csv)

Downloaded historical data will have maximum historical date and contains following columns : "snapped_at","price","market_cap","total_volume"

II. Scraping the data from Coinmarketcap web page using python :
If you want more comprehensive historical data and customizable date range, you can use python with cryptocmd library created by mr Rohit Gupta.
The scraping method is explained very well in this link : https://github.com/guptarohit/cryptoCMD ). The process is simple to follow.

Output of the scraping will be in csv format. You can adjust historical date to your need and historical data will contain following columns :
"Date", "Open", "High", "Low", "Close", "Volume", "Market Cap"

If anyone could find a better way to get crypto historical dataset please don't hesitate to share in the comment below, i hope this post will be helpful in the future. Thanks.

Re: TREND is our Friend
by

on 24/02/2019, 01:01:12 UTC
Many cryptotraders are waiting for the bull run and they think that bull market is the only way to make profit in trading. But for me TREND is our FRIEND. You can make profit even in the bear market situation. Always apply the buying low and selling high at your preferred percentage or profit. Timing is everything if you will wait for the bull market you probably lost hope in trading. Trading is far different from holding. Those who wait for bull market are holders but if you are a trader you can make profit in bear market. The elements of good trading are cutting losses. Bullishness and bearishness represent an emotional commitment. You should have a good market analysis to gain success in trading. According to Alexander Elder, "Our goal is to trade well, not to trade often."

Good. Here's an effective strategy but not somethimes not simple in implementation : in bear market= actively selling in every upticks and wait for retracements to repeat selling. In bull market = just hodl

it's very positive to the advancement of bitcoin and crypto in general in terms of recognition that this technology is here to stay. Imagine the next thing will be adding an incognito mode of keyboard with shortcuts to put our crypto wallet/private keys in there, must be terrific.

Yeah, terrific idea. Really terrific!!!!

Everyone is advising not to share the private keys and keep them safely in physical or at least encrypted form in an offline state but you suggest to keep them on your phone, with an app having access to them and with the possibility to send them by mistake.

As I said, really terrific!!

ah yes, terrific for hackers/keyloggers i mean Grin Grin Grin

It did not appear to me but it seems to have been added according to the comments in the link[1].

Re: The bull market is almost here
by

on 21/02/2019, 08:42:02 UTC
The future is certainly bright for cryptocurrencies at the moment and it just seems like everything is falling in place at precisely the right time.
Bitcoin ETF is coming up, Bakkt launch is also around the corner, Ethereum Constantinople hardfork is almost here, JP Morgan who public criticized cryptocurrency last year is launching their own JPM coin which will be the first cryptocurrency backed by a major bank in the world,  and the timeline has been set for the next bitcoin halving.

The bull market is not so far off again

good opinion. I think the thing that propels next crypto bull market will be the early stage of blockchain application. earliest cases, we will see how blockchain solutions are used in supply chain and remittances. BaaS (Blockchain as Services) will be used by companies and many will surprised by how much money and resources can be saved by blockchain. After that many will follows, media blowing off crypto again like in 2017 and there you go, next hype will drive crypto market up before it busts again due to btc inelastic supply & halving algo facilitates this.  Grin

All times are good to enter the cryptocurrency market. - Tim Draper
Do you agree with this guy? All I know is Mr. Draper is a billionaire, huge bitcoin bull and a venture capitalist.
I kinda agree with him when I look at the bitcoin inform of investment vehicle for long-term, not just hit and run kind of investment.
What y'all got to say about this?

https://i.imgur.com/wKhBVVF.jpg

IMO, timing is very important to consider. When you're putting capital to crypto with goal of raising $ value on random ocassion you're betting on a succesful $ value appreciation over the long timeframe which really a risky business. A lot of past calls made by these 'experts' are proven to be false which indicates that their guesses are as good as ours. Still, constant learning is the best way to get any outcome we want wit our investments.

Re: Does ICO developers truly believe in their projects
by
richardeames
on 22/08/2018, 00:12:56 UTC
Am wondering, if all these altcoins developers that did ICO and raised millions of dollars If they truly believe in their project. If actually they believe in their tokens, why can't they be using part of the ICO money to be buying the tokens back from those who are selling or dumping at very cheap prices??

Atleast they know the amount that's in circulation since they are the one that distributed it.
Am just curious to know.

Most are just money grabbing. Money (especially on large amount) can distort our perception and integrity easily, so i would not trust any ICOs these days easily because most of them are just nothing but vaporwares that will extinct in the very near future.

Re: Why Should you invest in Neo ?
by
richardeames
on 22/08/2018, 00:08:50 UTC
Hello guys !

I'm not gonna make a topic about the main qualities of neo , because you may know ...
Yes , NEO is a huge project , that's certain.

Here , I will approach the financial aspect.
Indeed , you might know that when you hold NEO , you will have gas (dividend).

Just to explain , if you have some NEO , you will receive some gas.
For example , if you keep yours neo in binance , you will receive gas each 2d day of the month

So , here the main points :

  •     Firstly , NEO should totally rise in the next few years , personnally , I see NEO at 400-500$ by 2021 ! But yes , it's speculation , I agree.

  •     Here , the best point , as I said , NEO gives you dividends (gas) , so , even if NEO rises just a bit (example : 30$ by 2021) , you'll earn dividends !
That will affect your ROI !

For example , Martin wants to invest in cryptocurrencies , he will invest in Litecoin , he has 5000$ to invest in , so he will have like 80 LTC.
Imagine that the price of LTC will rise , and will be like 500$ by LTC in 2021 , so Martin will have 40 000$. He will earn 40 000 - 5000 = 35 000$ .

But now , imagine that Martin invest in NEO , he will hold like 250Neo , so now , imagine that the NEO's price willl be like 150-200$ by 2021.
Martin will have like 40 000$.
But , each months , Martin will earn 3 gas (dividends), so in 3 years , he will have 108 gas.
The price of gas is currently at 5$ , so he will earn 500$ (approximately).
So in this case , Martin will earn 40 000$ + 500$  Smiley

But now , imagine that the price of gas rise too , and will be like 40$ in 2021.  Smiley
So now , Martin will have 40 000$ (NEO) and 4500$ (gas).  Wink

Here , we can really see the impact of NEO's dividend.  Cheesy

Thanks for your time guys ! And sorry for my english  Grin
Have a nice day !  Wink

Neo seems like a good project. But In my opinion there isn't certainty in crypto market. Only probability and therefore we should be careful and objective on assessing every crypto we interested/invested in. I have learned hard lessons during my time in crypto and will be more careful to not exagerrate the potential gain i could make and stay realistic as possible.

Re: HODLing will get you nowhere
by
richardeames
on 21/08/2018, 23:52:52 UTC
The past week, as I've been looking to invest in recently finished ICOs since most of their prices are way below ICO price, I noticed the same thing mentioned over and over in their telegram channels.

People screaming: HODL!!!  It will moon someday!!!!

Another one that is common: When BINANCE!?!?! If only we were on Binance!!!

This makes me laugh inside.  Crypto is not a magical place where all coins will eventually rise in value if you just hold on to them.

Most ICOs did very poorly the last 3 months.  The ones that did the worst were the ones that started in January
Now, a lot of these startups are underfunded and could only list in low volume exchanges and seeing their prices crash to ridiculously low prices.
And everyone is crying on their Telegram.

Listen very closely yo: The price will never rise if everyone HODls!

Prices are boosted through supply and demand and if a vast majority of people who own the coin are not trading it, than you are severely cutting in to that chain.

Instead of Hodling, you should be buying and making strategic trade choices.

Good point. Crypto fundamental structure is very weak because still on its infancy and its tiny marketcap size. The price is heavily depended on S&D not the actual value that crypto could provide.

Re: Market can be manipulated?
by
richardeames
on 21/08/2018, 23:46:16 UTC
Latest article by www.wired.co.uk stated that a newspaper by researchers  at the University of Texas at Austin's department of finance indicates that someone at Bitfinex cryptocurrency exchange may have artificially inflated the price of coins including bitcoin, ether, and Zcash. The responsible for this appears to have been Tether, a cryptocurrency with the same CEO as Bitfinex.
What are your thoughts about this? Do you think they really manipulated the price? Is it possible?

Off course. Manipulation happens on every levels of human society settings, especially on economical matter. Every Bitcoin ETF application on 2018 (including by VanEck & SolidX) will likely be rejected because the applicants will have a hard time to explain to SEC on how the crypto market will be 'resistant' to price manipulation.

Re: Why bitcoin is superior
by
richardeames
on 11/08/2018, 23:35:12 UTC
Lately I have realized couple of newbies complain about vulnerability of the market because of the dips
But truth is we seem to have forgotten that

Whereas Bitcoin is the first and largest decentralised digital currency used as a store of value and a means of payment, Ethereum is the largest decentralised application network.

That explains why bitcoin dominance seem unbreachable

Because its the first successful epitomization of p2p digital cash and acts as a gateway transaction for fiat to crypto (and vice versa). The irony is the direction its heading is to become more of a store of value rather than a way of transacting fast with cheap fees.

Re: Ripple will be great again
by
richardeames
on 11/08/2018, 23:30:34 UTC
On the macro side, there are a number of positive developments that have helped push the popularity of the cryptocurrency up.  Ripple has been working on a deal with the Bank of America, the latest institution to jump into the cryptocurrency market.

Ripple has a number of bank partnerships, including Santander and Master Card that have elevated the cryptocurrency in the minds of retail investors...

Ripple (XRP.X) price prediction: what to expect?

I believe Ripple will bull again!!!

ripple has been a man of the show for a time. It surely will open the barrier to mainstream adoption through B2B financial institutions use cases. One of promising coins to put into your basket indeed.

There are many ways people earning in altcoin in regular basis. What is your methods for earning in altcoin?

Trading?
Airdrop?
Bounty?
Others?

90% freelance job (not bounty) and staking coins. Bounty becoming more and more less rewarding because I think its a broken business model that is not sustainable.
