Re: Problem with blockchain.com (I not receive anymore authorization email)

Hello. I sympathise with all the people facing this problem. It is very frustrating and you naturally worry, although I am pretty sure all is well and it is more a case of their servers unable to handle volume at this exact moment in time.

I had a variation of this problem back in 2016, as you can see from the letter I had to write to their support on Twitter:

Hi. I am a little concerned about not being able to access my wallet. I have an online wallet. Recently, I had not been being sent the email password in order to access my wallet. When I contacted Blockchain about this, this was interpreted as a "request to remove two-factor authentication from your Blockchain wallet." This was not quite true. I merely wished to report the technical problem that I was not being sent the random password to my email account. I felt I had no option but to approve the request, as there was no way to communicate with Blockchain and refusing might have led to goodness knows what technical difficulties. I was informed by email on 21 August that "this request will be automatically approved at 2016-09-18 19:39:07." So I have to wait almost a month and am unable to access my Bitcoin? I am in the United Kingdom and, if this were a bank, I would be obliged to contact all the necessary financial regulatory bodies. Can I have your feedback, please?

The situation was eventually resolved, but I wonder if people started threatening to file a complaint with the financial regulatory body in their country, this might get them moving now and in the future? Because if they want to act as a bank or another storer of assets (as Bitcoin is classified in the UK, for example), surely they should also be regulated in the same way. I know that any bank would surely attract censure and attention if it stopped sending you the information to let you log into your account.

I notice that their support right now mentions high volumes... I do not use Blockchain any more, but I should add that there were sometimes periods of months and months when I did not even log into my account (the price was so low) and the coins still stayed there (even through Blockchain.info becoming Blockchain.com!). So I am confident your coins will also be there safe and sound.

I hope it will work one day. Every day i try two or three times to login, but i don't recieve an email. Anyway if il will work again, i consider not to use blockchain.com anymore.

I think there were a "few" big investors which has bought the few days following Elon Musk. But they will not (or can not ) go on buying. They have perhaps taken their position they wanted and now it is waiting and looking at what the rest of the market does. But i think it will still go down.

Hi All.
Since yesterday I have serious problem to access on blockchain.com account. When I tried to login, I didn't got any authorization email. I've tried several times. Nothing. All the emails arrived exactly 1 hour later my request. Today I tried again, but no authorization email arrived.

I've already wrote to the support team (but they are very slow). Also used my backup phrases to restore my account using a new email. On the new address I receive email without problem. The bad thing is that the major btc I have on blockchain.com are on the interest balance and this amount was not recovered with the backup.

Someone has similar experience? What I can do?

For me exactly the same. Yesterday all day long the same problem. Today also the same problem. I didn't receive any authorization email for two days already.

Hello,

can anyone help me with my old bitcoin Wallet? Its from 14. May 2014 (bitcoin core).
I tryied to install bitcoin core 0.9.1 but i dont suceed. I opened the wallet.dat with the latest version of bitcoin core but the public key which it gaves me, has no transactions Sad

With kind regards from Germany
I should install the latest version you can see on top of this forum.
After starting the donwload you have to copy your old wallet.dat file and delete the new one from the download. You do this while the download is not working. Than you restart the new download and your old wallet.dat is used.

I should use the signature as well, but i am also newbie and i can't  find the place where i can copy the signature.  I know it is for free, but it doesn't matter to me if i can help you a little bit.

BUT what am worried about is :
The market manipulation by Elon Musk that did happen this month on twitter , it was not only bad but at the same time it could mean that he plans to do such things in the future.

I'm not worried about this, Bitcoin is not that easy to manipulate. Yes, Elon stirred some movement, but he can't do this forever, sooner or later the market will tire of it. More and more people are realizing that Elon is just trolling when he talks about Dogecoin.

And it's unlikely that he would manipulate the Bitcoin market for personal gain, he's already the richest man in the world, what's the point?

I do just think the same. It is not good that 1 person has so much bitcoin in property. That way he can manipulate the market, something that others can't do .

Re: how to connect two bitcoind to each other
by

on 12/02/2021, 09:04:31 UTC
Hello all,
maybe a stupid question, elswhere allready answerd, but I could not find it.
I got two PCs running core, one 24H and the other just if needed for my wallet.
I want that the wallet PC only connect to my 24H Core PC dircetly and update the blockchain.
Reason is, I think that speed up my update.
Both PCs are in the same local network.
I tryed it with 'connect' in bitcoin.conf, but the wallet just connect to the internet.
I also tryed 'addnode' but that does also only connect to the internet.
Maybe someone can write down the needed conf entries, to do the wanted connection.
thank you

I also use bitcoin core . Is there a command, addnode or so that i can help you with, from the configuration of my wallet?

At a speed of 91.09 Mb/s it should only take 54 minutes to download 300GB of blocks.
It is megabits isn't it? Should take a few hours. J1900 also has 4 cores and threads.

Judging by your specs, the synchronization would be extremely slow. If you're not looking to do anything else other than receiving/sending Bitcoins, I would recommend you to just take a look at SPV wallets like Electrum. The limited ram and your computer specs would certainly guarantee that the synchronization will be way slower when you get nearer to the latest blocks.

The synchronization went indeed very fast in the first years. In an hour that was done. BUt now i am at the end of 2016 and it stays going slowly.
It should indeed be better to take wallet lik Electrum. I thought Bicoin Core was the safest.
Anyway, i want to thank everybode for the great help with the quick answers and good explanation. Thank you very much.

Since you barely have resource to run Bitcoin Core, i need to ask why do use Bitcoin Core? If you only plan to store Bitcoin, using lightweight wallet such as Electrum and Wasabi wallet might be better option.

My computeris 4 years old. Not a very fast one i think.  Use windows 10. HDD 0.5 TB. But for the other like bandwith or so? i really don't kwow and where i can find an answer for this.

To know your bandwidth, use this website https://www.speedtest.net/. When perform test, choose server from different country because local and international speed sometimes is different.
To see your CPU/RAM, see this guide http://solverbase.com/w/Windows_10:_How_To_See_Processor_%26_RAM_Specs

I have just done the speedtest from the link you posted and it gives 91,09 Mbps. Is that good?

For the CPU and RAM :
Intel Celeron CPU J1900
1.99 GHz

RAM :  4,00 GB (3.90 GB available).

nothing is ever guaranteed 100% "safe" when you update software... there are just so many variables at play with different computers/configurations etc.

Having said that, if you simply shutdown v0.20.1... and then install v0.21 and then start v0.21... it should restart from where 0.20.1 left off... ie. at Block 235195.

Also, the initial sync shouldn't be taking 6 weeks to complete!!?! Shocked Shocked Shocked What CPU/RAM combo are you using? Do you have an SSD or HDD? What is your download bandwidth? Huh

I have installed v0.21 this working and it is working but not as v0.20.1. The version 0.20.1 downloaded constantly. Now it stops from time to time during a few minutes and than it continues again.
now still 234406 blocks to go.  3 weeks to go comes on my screen.

A am gonna answer on the other posts soon, but i am first gonna the try to find the papers of my computer i bought about 4 years ago. Have to search a little bit.

Thank you very mucht for your answer. It was because i saw here a topic of a person who got problems with v0.21  and not with v0.20.1.

When the blocks are donwloading , sometimes i see : still 6 weeks to go, sometimes 4 weeks. Now i am at about 26 % downloaded . I think it depends a little bit if i'm using my computer for other things or not. It goes faster when i let my computer only download the blocks and i do nothing else on my computer.

Just a single word "bitcoin" from one of the world's richest person changed the entire BTC market, I never expected such a big pump after dropping to 29k and again till 38k plus. I just want to know are people still buying because of a small hype?

Why people are so much eager on a small hype from a single man does popularity makes big impacts on the market? Why people are not following the trend and strategy of Market? What's your opinion guys.

I have just the same idea about this. Someone with …. MONEY sent one word and 20 % up. Unbelievable.
It makes me thinking about 'GAME...' that everyone bought the few days and the market was crazy.

I can see this in his debug.log file:

Code:
2021-01-29T12:47:28Z ERROR: DeserializeFileDB: Failed to open file K:\Bitcoin qt\Database Wallet\anchors.dat
This is benign and expected.

What should happen if you stay at the version  v0.20.1  and not go to the v0.21.
I"m have started again about 3 weeks ago with the version v0.20.1 after troubles with my computer . Now i am still 4 years and 16 weeks behind. Block 235195 That goes very slow. I get the mension that it will still take 6 weeks to have completend the download.
I am affraid if i go to another version , i have to start completely again.
Please open a new thread for your issue. Do not hijack other people's threads.

Yes, you are totally right. I have openen a new thread. It toke me some time to find it how to do this, but i have succeeded. Thanks very much .

take the pills and take vaccine, I think.

Yes, definitely. It makes sense. There is some evidence that vitamin D helps, and there is no danger from taking too much vitamin D, so definitely use it. Ans obviously vaccines have been proven to work, so take that when you get the chance, to protect yourself and others.

I have read this in oktober 2020 that vitamin D is good for your immunity. SInce that day i use it every day. I think it is very good in the winter for all kinds of virus, because there is not very much sun in the winter that gives you vitamin D. I am taking it until i get my vaccin. Maybe next summer.
