Not really, having one exchange alone controlling more than 80% is as centralized as you would like.

What would happen to bitcoin if mtGox was shutdown overnight.

It is related to bitcoin because bitcoins would solve that problem, the problems argentinians are having with their government and currencies.

I think what you are describing above can only happen if people are confident that governments will not or can not interfere in bitcoins. And once the fear of goverment intervention is gone prepare for a big payout if you are a btc hoarder.

I think that is the case, untill a coin is found that is significantly better than bitcoin, not just another copycat.
A coin that can do something fundamental, that bitcoin cant.

What happens if my application is rejected?

If we reject your documents, we will always explain by email what went wrong in the verification process. The top 5 most common causes for rejection are:

  • Not submitting all the documents. Many people only give us a driver's license or passport on their first attempt, without providing any proof of residence. This is the most common reason for rejection, and costs our customers the greatest amount of time in having their accounts verified.

I am currently applying to become verified. And the reason why people only submit a drivers license is because, submitting the proof of residency simply does not work. I have tried for a million times to upload my proof of residency and it just will not upload. It shows a red bar, and that's it.

After logging in and out to see if it resolves the matter, it send my application out automatically. Had to wait for almost two weeks to get a decision, which obviously was that i failed and need to apply again. And once again proof of residency will not upload.
To check if there is something wrong with the file, I tried to upload proof of my driving license on the proof of residency section , and it still does not work. It send my application of automatically again, and I have to wait for 2 weeks again to receive the same decision.
For a company with such large amounts of revenue, you make quite a meal of dealing with customers needs. Not to mention the in-capacities of your systems and website.
I would not be surprised if it is only 1 member of staff going through all of the applications, since the rate at which they are resolved seems to be a couple of hundreds per day.
Bitcoin is a lovely concept, but companies like yours taint it for the worse. I'm afraid Bitcoin will never gain mass adoption, whilst it is being associated with Mtgox.

1.   Deposit $2,000 into BTC-e
2.   Deposit the 16.73093 BTC to sell into MtGox.
3.   Buy BTC at $119.3 from BTC-e = 16.73093 BTC at a cost of $2,000
4.   Send the 16.73093 BTC to MtGox
5.   Sell all your 33.46186 BTC on MtGox at $137 = $4,584

Well. Take this:

1.   Deposit $2,000 into BTC-e
2.   [removed as unnecessary]
3.   Buy BTC at $119.3 from BTC-e = 16.73093 BTC at a cost of $2,000
4.   Send the 16.73093 BTC to MtGox
5.   Sell your 16.73093 BTC on MtGox at $137 = $2,292

You don't even need to have that 16.73093 BTC from the start to make profit and there's nothing new in what you “discovered”.

Now you tell me how to deposit that $2,000 into BTC-e in the first place and let it be quick and cheap. That'll be something new.

Same point i made earlier, but somehow the OP sees a difference

I dont understand why i would need to have the 16 BTC on mtgox, and you have not even disclosed how much you got those BTC for.

Simply all you are trying to say is fund btc-e account buy btc for cheap and sell on mtgox.

Nothing new there, and you have neither mentioned all the fees and more importantly time involved

How do you fund BTC-E account with OKpay.

I cant seem to find any article on their website detailing how fund an account, and what the account details are.
