Re: Bitfinex HACKED - funds stolen !
by

Unless i am very wrong here but i think bitfinex is back in business and they are doing well right now.
That's s much worrying as it is surprising, I wouldn't touch them with a bargepole. I just hope that they aren't creating fake volume. I guess time will tell - but I certainly wont be putting any of my hard earned BTC their way.

Most Chinese exchanges are creating fake volumes as they have 0% trading fee. The Bitfinex might be an exception.

Considering they're doing so much random stuff id strongly advise avoiding them for a while. The volumes they suggest seem to be fake as they are ridiculously high volumes just after the attack. They will have lost many loyal customers with the stupid BFX token idea and the initial failures in security.

Did they ever announce how they were hacked? They paid some experts to find out but the experts said they couldn't work out how the hackers did it. How can their loyal customers trust them if they can't work out what failures in security the hackers used?

Having a PIGGY giveaway in the Trollbox on Novaexchange right now: https://novaexchange.com/market/BTC_PIGGY/

How many PIGGYs do we get for participating, and what do we have to do to get them? Is the giveaway open to newly created novaexchange accounts because I've never used that exchange? It's not one of the big exchanges and I guess most PIGGY holders are not registered there yet.

Re: [2016-10-04] Dr Ruja Flees Sinking Ship As Regulators Crack Down on OneCoin
by

The City of London Police are also investigating OneCoin along with a multitude of police forces from other countries. Dr Ruja will find it hard to flee if every country she runs to has her under investigation.

As the UK’s primary financial regulator, the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has previously granted licenses to the likes of bitcoin exchange and services Circle. Earlier this week, the regulator and authority issued a public statement, warning consumers against engaging or trading in OneCoin, an altcoin that has garnered controversy in the past.

OneCoin is widely seen as a fraudulent cryptocurrency scheme that purports itself to be a digital currency similar to bitcoin. In its warning, the FCA revealed the City of London Police were currently investigating the alleged scheme, advising consumers who believe they have been swindled to reach out to the National Fraud Centre.

Re: i own 826 nxt in poloniex account!
by

Guys, I got the reply from Poloniex support. Here we go: "ARDOR will indeed be credited accordingly with the number held on average during all snapshots. As I understand that would not require them to be in your account at all times or on the actual distribution date but I can not confirm that this is 100% the case. I do know balances will be credited and withdrawals of ARDOR will be allowed, but we are unsure of a permanent listing at this time." So basically I would hold my NXT's up to distribution date

It will be possible to start trading the ARDOR assets inside NXT asset exchange soon, but poloniex might decide not to give its customers their ARDOR assets, and wait until the ARDOR coin gets launched in six months before giving them to its customers.

I'm certain poloniex will credit customer's accounts with ARDOR, but I'm not sure if it will credit them soon or in six months time.

Hodl coin is a proof of work coin, but it pays interest on every balance. The interest is now at 800% which is as better than some proof of stake coins pay. There were some problems with the coin that some investors complained about though. I never invested so I'm not sure what the problems were. They will be mentioned in it's ANN thread.

Re: WAVES. Ultimate crypto-tokens blockchain platform.
by
robbo389

So the Coinomat asset on the NXT platform was apparently abandoned by Sasha. In June the last thing he said is that the asset needs to regroup, no dividends since. By switching to Ardor in 1.5 weeks most of the assets will be burned. Including both Coinomats. I have a hefty percentage of those, back then I was thinking this was the most solid asset on NXT. And hey what do I see now, no payouts in 4 months, price is close to nothing and virtually no support till 1 NXT. ONE. If this is how Sasha handles his projects, I'll just dump whatever I have in Waves for as much as I can get. Regrouping ha? I call it scam big time.

I think an asset creator can move his asset to Ardor if he wants, so if Sasha has abandoned the Coinomat asset it's not the switch to Ardor that will destroy the Coinomat asset, it's Sasha refusing to maintain it. Even if he was maintaining it waves seems a better investment.

Re: KIBO - First Blockchain Lottery
by

How does KIBO randomly pick a winner of a lottery? Does it use a decentralised method to pick a winner, or a centralised method? Other coins have used the hash of a block to pick a winner for gambling games, but experts say that miners can rig a system using that method so they win.

A big crash is incoming for tomorrow. You've been warned. Get ready to sell, don't be a bag-holder.

What time (in UTC time format) will this crash happen?

Most exchanges are competing with each other and probably wouldn't cooperate. What happens when exchanges go bad, like Mintpal?

There was a website, but now it is gone:
http://bitlegal.net/

It displayed the map of the whole Earth and the current legal status of Bitcoin for each country. It was quite often updated. I'm not sure what happened.
The main players are Russia and China. The rest you can find here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legality_of_bitcoin_by_country

Maybe bitlegal.net got banned.

It is probably a good idea to move somewhere else for a day or two, just in case.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0uVI8cQ3Hpo

Venus and Mercury lined up together couldn't affect the earth's oceans in any significant way.

There is a chance you could be hit by a meteor you know - it could be a good idea to wear a helmet all the time, just in case.   Wink

Wearing a helmet won't save you from meteor, if it reaches you it will kill you but not staying around Sant Andreas fault line at mentioned date might actualy save your life. As for the planets, you are definitely clueless and underestimate their effect on everything.

While the moon might be close enough to earth for its gravity to affect the oceans, the other planets are not close enough IMO.

The speed of light is the maximum speed ...

Not if tachyons are ever proved to exist.

A tachyon particle is a hypothetical particle that always moves faster than light.

I voted "no" because there are too many things that can go wrong with paypal and chargebacks, they go together like bread & butter. They also have the ability to take money out of your bank if you balance on paypal is 0. Sounds like fun? Not really.

Mt Gox used paypal when it started off, but had to stop, probably because of the risk of chargebacks. I doubt this idea will work.

Some campaigns ask you to put your address in your profile page and don't pay if you change or remove it. A hacker controlling someone's account could not divert those funds to himself.

In my opinion, it isn't in the spirit of crypto to have closed-source things. That is the difference between Satoshi and this wolf idiot.

Just to be fair, he is responsible for the fastest open source cryptonight cpu miner, and I think the fastest open source neoscrypt kernel for sgminer, so it's not like he's contributed nothing. He's also pretty much just a kid, and I think a bit disappointed in how much users will donate to open source tech, so I don't begrudge him possibly keeping some code to himself/paying customers.

I still prefer open source because you can check there are no backdoors in the code.

Re: do u like the smell of your own fart?
by
robbo389
on 08/03/2015, 13:26:03 UTC
I think most people enjoy the scent of their own brew...

but why?  Cheesy

I don't know how it works, but some scientists blindfolded some mothers and got them to sniff each others baby's nappies. They all thought their own baby's nappy smelt less bad than all the other women's.

Your own farts probably work in a similar way. They don't normally smell that bad and when they do smell bad to you they must smell terrible to everyone else.

Re: [ANN][VTR] vTorrent - Share with freedom | Bittrex | C-CEX | EmpoEX
by

on 20/02/2015, 10:56:17 UTC
I sincerely apologize for the delays and absent in this thread due to an unforeseen issue with my real life project/business this month, but I am still working on this project and I do intend to move forward with vTorrent.

In this coming week, I will try my best to keep the community updated along with some screenshot of the current development phrase on the torrent implementation.

Regards,
vTorrent

Would rather like to see some real thing instead of screenshots.
Did anyone test the beta Mac wallet? Guess not, because almost no one is using that OS.
Anyway, hate to say, but this really is a pathetic case of empty promises. The idea of this coin is intriguing, but nothing substantial has come out of it for 2 months now.  I hope that someone will make a decentralised torrentdatabase and searchengine soon, based on blockchaintechnology to reward people for offering content. It most definitely will not be vtorrent.

I would be happier if we could see something working even if it's not perfect. A screenshot demonstrates nothing.
