I have tried doing the same setup as you mentioned but it still freezes in that setup.
I have even tried lowering the frequency down to 100mhz but it's not helping as well.

I am running 19 gekkoscience 2pac ASIC on raspberry pi 2 model b through powered hub. Everything runs ok for a while but then after around 30 minutes the pi stops responding, I cannot reach it via ssh nor the web interface. I have to unplug and replug the power in order to restart it. How do I view the log to see what's causing the freeze issue?

Or should I get the usb 3.0 version? Is there any big difference on them?

I am interested too in getting some 2PAC as well. Got my first one from eyeboot in 1 weeks time but the total including shipping was too high.

How do you know it's a runtime virus? Which software detected it? There are better forum dedicated to removing virus and malware. Just search for on Google and you will get better guidelines there.
