Nevermind. Had not looked at the price in some time, didn't realize it was this low. Not even worth getting rid of. Now just an experiment in how long I can run it without blowing my cpu up.

I am very displeased with this entire thread now. So much drama. Vegasguy "Fly" post history makes me worried.

There have been slow changes implemented that all seem money grabs. I am tired of it. I will be dumping 100% of my DMD.

Have a great time the rest of you. I am out.

And no one is concerned to explain what's this all about 24/7 activity and 1000 DMD bonus?

Are you questioning people staking 24/7? I don't get it.

Well, it would be nice if the wallet would use a little less resources for staking. I use a fairly strong laptop to run btc-core, cap and hbn at the same time and it's pretty much all it can handle.

Another thing worth mentioning is the amount of orphans if have staking: About 30% of what is staked turns out to be an orphan.
When I move my wallet to my dab ass i7 desktop, the percentage drops below 5%. Another indication the hbn wallet is very dependent on resources.

All in all, I am very impressed it works so reliably after about 3 years. But if someone would ask, I'd say lighter staking would be a great improvement. The fact that the chain is pretty big doesn't bother me at all. That's easily solved with a bootstrap of which recent ones are always available.

Cheers!

Yes, agree. The wallet is full of useful functions, but is resource hungry. I would guess it is not an easy job to remedy that.

It would be fantastic if we could take a note from DMD's book and use a bit from their book. POS takes up so little resources on my DMD wallet and the coins are automatically regrouped after staking. Makes for a much easier time loading the client.

Problem of Hobonickels is it is a one man show - Tranz.  I suggested to make something like hobonickels foundation which will push hbn to be more visible on very competetive cryptomarket - but no response to that . Until it stays like that hbn price, volume etc will only detoriate more and more ..

what such foundation should do :

-gather some coins from members and fans to pay:
- website
- paid articles on crypto servers
- pay to get to prime markets
- think of reshape and maybe rebrand the coin - I know this point might be controversial.
- pay for developement of services
- propagate within crypto friendly merchants
- something else which did not come to my mind yet..

I very much like the rebrand of the coin. Hobonickels while nostalgic, doesn't say much about the coin nor does it give off a great sense of value when you hear it. Darkcoin changing to Dash, dogecoindark changing to verge, etc are all good rebrands. They at least bumped up their trading volume and price quite significantly.

I would not say he is a fool, if he got his diamonds cheap, this was a valid exit point, sellorder book was empty, price close to 100k. Well played I would say. One thing you should not forget, BTC price last year was around 50% of the actual price.

I think it's more professional if we don't call anyone involved with Diamonds a fool, even if we don't understand their decision to sell when they did. I just think name calling could be a turn off to new people entering this community.

Ok, i just wanted to say that a normal user can easily sell their coins (if he urgently needed money) placing sell orders in small portions.
This is much better than for the market strategy of the sudden dump own coins.

Every educated DMD owner must respect the market that brought him profit.
And I think that the absence of the trading culture more frightening new people than my pair of sharp words

You sort of contradict yourself. You say a normal user can easily sell their coins (if he urgently needed money) placing sell orders in small portions.

Urgently needed money and placing sell orders in small portions doesn't work out well. What if he needed 5k worth of dmd turned into btc immediately. Selling it in small portions may take him a week to do. There are far too many circumstances for you know why he did it.

hahaha...far from scandalfree and doesnt .05 from every block go to the foundation, not a premine but shady.  what about the forced "reactor" and all those 500 deposits from cryptsy and then the withdrawal you wouldnt explain.  hahahaha

Ya but DMD has done a lot of us well. I don't disagree with you though. Definitely shady behavior at times.

What's the next most preferable altcoin exchange that we can get listed on? I know we're on crytopia but I think a more reputable high volume exchange would suit HBN better. I know I have wanted to buy decent sized chunks but Cryptsy was a gamble and I don't trust the lesser known exchange just yet.

I was thinking Bittrex or Poloniex

Question for someone who has the knowledge on POS / POW.

What happens when the hashing becomes so low on POW that POS is the only thing securing the coins? Is this a likely event? How secure would the system be then? Can the coin survive solely on POS in a secure manner?

Yes a coin can survive just on PoS. It can be secure, depending on how much coin weight the network has. I still have no plans to remove PoW. Will reevaluate as time goes on.

Appreciate the response kiklo and tranz. Was not suggesting we remove it, was just curious. I noticed low CAPS hashrate and was hoping it wouldn't matter too much.

You may want to consider switching over to https://chainz.cryptoid.info/ instead of CCE. It is an amazing alt explorer, very detailed and I believe would cost around the same. Could get bottlecaps on there at the same time. Is this something we can consider or is CCE set for those donations?

Edit: After checking the renewal rate for DMD on https://chainz.cryptoid.info/ it's only $9.99 per month. That isn't bad at all after the initial cost. I hope I am reading that right.

I think that presstab's explorer is a lot cheaper @.3 BTC for the whole year. If an explorer is needed, then presstab's is a good choice.
BottleCaps is already on there. Though it expires December 30th. Sent a PM to Presstab to see how much it costs to have HBN added
and to renew BottleCaps for the whole year.

Not sure why one costs a whole lot more than the other. But, I like Presstab's explorer, and is cheaper too!
As soon as Presstab gets back to me, I will post the pricing info here. I will also kick in some BTC to help pay for it.

Peace, Dennis

LOL,  Grin
Ya must teach me da math , ya usin,
12 month * $9.99 = $119.88

.3 Btc at current conversion =$125.25

Presstab costs more, with less features.

Just Sayin,
AG18

Correct.

I also posted later that the cost is $100 for year, $55 for half year and then $9.99 per month. $100 is still the cheapest option. I don't see why we can't do both.

Turns out the one I referenced is 55 for 6 months or 100 for 12 months. Can do month by month afterwards for 9.99 a month if desired. Seems like a better priced option.

I am willing to pay year subscription here, would you top up my btc account by 9.9$ in btc value when this explorer go live for hbn?

Ya if that goes live I will donate a few months worth of BTC for to the address. It automatically sets it up, so you just send it and it's renewed.

Hello all. I recently received a note from dreamwatcher. The yearly fee for HBN and CAP on CCE has come due. The fee to renew both for the year is $440.  For just 1 it is 275.

Is this something we want to renew as a community?  If so I need your help. I can not cover the cost myself. I need to raise at least $350 from the community and I will cover the rest.

Due date is the 1st of the year.

To donate for HBN send BTC here: 1GMH9jMKfrDx5ZurAwPqp7gwAerGKiPtFs

To donate for CAP send BTC here: 13Kwcjsprq942Bx3ddYFqzHgHnwdTx2dFw

If neither gets enough, the funds maybe combined to give at least 1 of them renewal, HBN will be first. If the combined total is not enough, funds will be returned.  We'll cross that bridge if it comes to it.

Added another 0.05232258 BTC to the HBN address.

This is nearly as much as the value of all my HBN, but we need to bring things forward. There is too much blabla in HBN-community, "3k Satoshi is holding well" "Rock solid bottom" was repeated almost 100 times, but there is nobody here to bring things forward.
People got used to Tranz doing everything and now we have the tragedy of the common, more than other coins.

I don't care if we choose CCE, the PressTab-Explorer or any other. Whatever is the cheapest. Without a working Blockchain-Explorer, HBN could be removed from Coinmarketcap.

I have a major issue with Cryptopia that I hope isn't their fault. When I go to the settings page and try to change anything, it says I need a 4-8 character pin. I see no place to enter a pin. This gives me a red flag.
Hey mate I'm an admin at Cryptopia and did you ever set a pin for your account? Cause I know that people can set a pin number that needs to be entered for all sorts of things like whenever I log into my Cryptopia account I have to enter my 4 digit PIN after my login and password are entered.  If you don't remember if you did or not just open a support ticket and I'll make sure that I bring it to the attention of the owners ASAP to help you get the problem fixed Smiley Cheers

That's the thing. I didn't set any of that up and it only appears on the security page.

"The pin must be between 4 and 8 digits." is exactly what pops up

There isn't even a spot to enter the pin. Is chrome not good to use on the site?
Hmmm that's super weird cause I use chrome and I'm on the site right now as I type this.  Best I can suggest is to open a support ticket and I'll pass the message along to the owners about the problem you are having so they will look into it as soon as they are around Smiley Cheers

Can you do me a favor and take a screenshot of where your area to enter a pin is? Delete all personal info obviously.
Well that wouldn't help you cause I only set my PIN for when I login so that's the only time it asks me to enter it is right after I enter my email and password then the same screen pops up with verify your PIN and another box and I enter my PIN.  That's the thing is in the security features you can set to only have to use your PIN at certain times like when you login, deposit, withdraw, tip or etc etc.... So unfortunately taking a screenshot of when it asks to enter my PIN wouldn't help you but I mean if you really really want to see it I can do it.

Cool I'll make a new account and see how that works first.
