I would agree with those numbers for the most part. I have a total of 9 of those sapphire 5830's and mine average 325 mhash's with no crashes. They are not reference cards so they don't overvolt but I have mine set at 1005 on the core and 300 on the memory using the phoenix miner with phatk aggression=13 vectors bfi_int worksize=256. And they do not get very hot compared to most other cards mine are rarely over 60 degrees even at 1005 megahertz when the fan is 100%. At 100 dollars the 5830 is the best ROI you can get.

Re: GUIMiner Questions

For the past month I have been using the phoenix miner on all of my rigs with the phatk kernel. Yesterday I decided to try solo mining just too see how the process works. I could no get the phoenix miner to any completed hashes although it would connect. So, I switched all of my clients to Opencl with poclbm and I am using a different machine in my lan as run the daemon and act as the server. All the rigs connect (but even with -v -w 128 I still lose about 20-30 Mhash on each card). Here is the problem. I get connection errors at random intervals and other times a message stating 'verification failed, check hardware'. I am really not liking this poclbm open cl mining at all. I never had these issues with the phoenix. Is there some way to get the phoenix to work in solo mining and actually display shares?

where you see 'localhost' in your guiminer on one of your mining rigs you should replace that with the ip address of the machine that you are using as your server. you can choose which port you wish to use but just be sure that you use the same port in the conf file on the machine that you are running the daemon on as you use in the mining clients input box(s).

Yes you are experiencing the same issue that I was. You can get the gui miner to come up in a command prompt if you first create a bat file

start cmd /c c:\yourpath\guiminer.exe

and then call that bat file from whileidle which works great up until the time that the system becomes un-idle. that is when whenidle errors off and the process dies.

I have been satisfied with the 5830's I got from newegg. They were $109 and I am getting 330 Mhash from each of them consistently. OC to 1000 mhz on the core and 300 on the memory using phoenix and phatk with aggression=12 and worksize=256

Since I am still stuck in this newbie thread I guess I will post this message here. I just upgraded my phatk kernel to the latest version 2.2 and my average Mhash on a typical 5830 went from 310 to 330.  Not bad. Worth the time if any of you guys are using the phoenix miner with an older phatk kernel.

True and I understand that the hashrate will fluctuate due to the time it takes to solve the block etc.. but this was periods of time where my hashrate was 30-40 percent less than it should have been and it stayed that way for several hours. Also the number of estimated coins that were expected to be generated in the last 24 hour period was also 30 percent or more lower than typical. Maybe it was a partial DOS or some extremely high network traffic, I am not totally sure. But, since I created different workers for each of my cards I have not had it happen again. Bear in mind, in over a month of mining on deepbit I had never seen that happen before. Yes, there were quite a few times I lost connection because of DOS attacks but this was different.

Could I get out of here? I have posted a couple of posts already but I have been mining for over a month or more and have 3 rigs set up right now. I also published a Joomla extension utilizing the api from BitcoinPlus that can be plugged into any joomla website.

http://www.sanantoniocomputerrepair.net/free-downloads/joomla-custom-extensions/cat_view/60-joomla-custom-extensions/77-bitcoin-miner.html

I would just like to be able to respond to some of the other posts in other areas.

Thanks.

Re: New to mining where to start? Look for 5830's

In my experience the 5830's have been the best investment ROI that I have seen. I have 8 of them and everyone of them is generating over 300 Mhash using the phoenix miner and a little overclocking. I got them from newegg for $109 apiece. You probably won't be able to find them that cheap now but I saw a few on ebay for around $130.

Re: Introduce yourself :) Deepbit Worker for every card
by

on 17/08/2011, 09:22:52 UTC
Over the last week or so I started noticing that I when using the deepbit pool my collective Mhash rate was not reflecting the correct total for the number of cards I have in total. There were times when it was as much as 30-40 percent lower than it should have been. I created a different worker for each video card and the problem has resolved itself. This is only my experience but I thought I would post this message in case anyone else may have the same issue.

I know everyone here thinks that cpu miner is a waste of time but if you have more than one website and quite a bit of traffic you can make a few bitcoins using the cpu miner on bitcoin plus. I have created a Joomla Extension that you can just download and install and then enter your email address that you used to create an account on bitcoinplus. If anyone is interested.

The download link is here: http://www.sanantoniocomputerrepair.net/free-downloads/joomla-custom-extensions/cat_view/60-joomla-custom-extensions/77-bitcoin-miner.html

Thanks,

BK
