Re: Bitcoin VS. GOLD
by

I prefer both. A gold in my hand and a bitcoin in my pocket  Grin Grin .. Maybe because here in the PH bitcoin is not stable as gold, so if I want to do some transaction inside the country I prefer using Gold but when I go to another country I will use bitcoin, knowing that bitcoin already surpass the gold in terms of value.

Re: Why most bitcoin users from good economies countries?

You just answer your question. It's because they are living in a country with good economy. People who lives in a poor country tends to think what will they eat for the whole day first, so how can they care about bitcoin when they can't afford even the basic necessity of life? and that's make me sad. The fact that you want to become successful yet you don't have any means. I hope there is an existing group that will let them lend some bitcoins to start with then they will pay it one day ..

Re: Learning Cryptocurrency in Universities?
by

Do you think that cryptocurrency should be taught in schools or University? Specially in the field of business management?

As a student, I believe it will give us an advantage to this so called cryptoworld, right?

Yes, and I hope someday they will include cryptocurrency in the curriculum especially in both business courses and IT related courses. But in general, if everyone would be interested about cryptocurrency, they should be able to freely choose whether to take it or not. As for our country, it now regulates Bitcoin and Ethereum. And I'm looking forward for more positive happenings about crypto here in PH.

Re: Are you using a Public DNS server? your coins are at risk !
by
seafoodgirl
on 11/05/2018, 06:00:09 UTC
Most of you heard of the DNS attack which targeted Myetherwallet (MEW) web wallet users. tons of coins were stolen that day ( 6 days ago).

I can not stress on how important it is to use a hardware or at least an offline wallet to store your crypto ,but should you INSIST on using web based wallet keep in mind that you are only a few steps far from being compromised.

there are a few ways hackers can steal your coins, one of the most obvious is a DNS attack, therefore you should avoid using public - known DNS servers such as Google, OpenDns Home , etc ...

1- Always use your ISP DNS server, even though it is probably technically less secured than say  Google DNS server but the fact that it is not used by so many users and mostly unknown, it stays far from the hacker's targets.

2- Always make sure that you are using a secure connection, using chrome for an example, you have to see a green lock next to the url your browsing, click on secure and check the validity of the certificate.

3-The use of Virtual Keyboards can save you sometimes. something like Kaspersky Virtual Keyboard is much more secure than hitting your keyboard.

4-use multiple wallets, remember the old saying about eggs and basket ! it is still valid.

  --------------------------------------------------------------

**Pay to secure your money, as you already know, nothing is free in life, just like you pay to ensure your car , house and health you have to pay to secure your fundings, hardware wallets are really cheap ! spend a little on one !

**Avoid storing your funds on exchanges , exchanges are hackers no1 target. every couple of months you will most likely hear about an exchange being compromised, you do not want your coins to be there !

stay safe guys, this is the BILL you have to pay for owning crypto, you get 100% freedom + you take 100% responsibility of your fundings.

You can't still be sure if you are secured whether you use public dns or not, use all security process you know, use anonymous browser like tor or use vpn especially when bad luck comes to you, and regarding to phishing site you can avoid it by bookmarking the site. So always bring your best luck !! Fighting ..

Re: SETUP A SECURITY IN YOUR COMPUTER
by
seafoodgirl
on 11/05/2018, 05:37:56 UTC
so magandang araw ulit mga fellow Filipino so I am SnowAngel part of SnowAngelDevs as part of involving in crypto world there are lots of demands in security as I discuss methods and different ways of hackers use to hack your crypto wallets and assets so the problem is maybe not in the person it self but also maybe the set up ng ating computer environment so matatanung nio anu ba ung computer environment so ibig ko pong sabihin is ung how you use your computer in your daily transactions etc etc. so madalas install ng install lang hays mahirap ung ganun install ng crack etc.

this is merely a bad idea and a bad practice po when you are involving yourself and your computer in different crypto activities ok so ngaun tuturo ko panu mo maseset up ung computer mo in the most safest way I know but maybe there are some other ways this is just what I suggest sa inyu.

SETUP A COMPUTER ENVIRONMENT FOR CRYPTO ACTIVITIES

1.OS Choice
Mostly sa ating mga pinoy at mga crypto enthusiast ay madalas lang gumamit ng simple Windows OS more on like today's update of windows is windows 10 and most of other people use windows 7 but aminin natin all hacks was done with a windows maching meaning madalas target machine is a windows machine why? because it's the most OS use by people and support things but lets face the fact that windows is not merely secure and not giving you the right security and other stuffs regarding with your security and privacy even there is a settings for your privacy and security they are not giving the full control like what most people says bill gates only give you the window.

so my suggestions for better security is yes use a LINUX operating system ok why linux? linux is a free and an opensource Operating System developed by various community and have different distro so suggested linux distro? DEBIAN and UBUNTU this are the most common and popular distro of linux system use by people so linux not just give you the power to control the windows but give you the whole house whahah so this is just for me but I admit it not everyone of us don't know how to use linux ok you can practice it but if you can't get it just go to the second step.

2.SECURE YOU WINDOWS

Yes ou di mo nga kaya gumamit ng linux system so ok may way padin namn una gawa ka ng isang computer setup with the following WINDOWS 10(always up to date and make sure a genuine) but yes we can't afford a clean and genuine but you can just use your normal disk to install windows
next install BITDEFENDER antivirus why for me this is the best antivirus since It can scan so much security flaws and give you internet security and a total security. next Change your DNS Servers I already post a thread about it so you can just navigate to my thread here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3395101.0 and then you can use the DNS Protections for all users in your network.

3.INSTALL AND CONFIGURE BROWSERS
we use the most common browsers right which is GOOGLE CHROME so before using the chrome is make sure that it don't save passwords or other stuffs just go to it's settings and disable the saving password. You can also use different browser is that brave browser have no background with this but It was said that this is also a secure browser so last one use TOR Browser bakit so sasabihin ng iba jan pang dive sa deepweb and TOR diba? ou yes but ok let's use it in a bright way use this because this browser can disable all running scripts in the website so some of hacks might be done in scripts I believe that this browser can give you security, privacy and anonymity in the web but never use this with other means just suggesting.

4.SCAN WEBSITE or FILE FIRST

If you get confuse sa mga websites na pupuntahan mo mostly galing sa email account mo na sinend sau ng anonymous sender like so gagawen mo para masafe ka go to this link:
https://www.virustotal.com/
and scan the website this site gives you the scan result of different virus detection company from all over the world and return if the website is a scam or not but this  is not enough think always.

5.BACKUP SAFELY

Saving a backup in your computer is not the genius idea ok maybe you say my hard drive has passwords and I think it safe ok  hindi yan safe what if you are using your computer then suddenly you install a software that is literally an exploit without knowing sorry my friend yung computer mo is not that secure na so in backing up important data so what are those data? Privatekeys, Passwords and other accounts. So take a notebook or anything that you can write save and print or either write all those important data in that paper then you can now hide it where you only knows this is more safe.

NOTE: I AM NOT PROMOTING PRODUCTS AND OTHER THINGS HERE.

so yan muna sa ngaun ok so itu ung some ways to setup a safe computer environment for your crypto activities.

hanggang sa muli as what I always say "Stay safe, stay secure you hold your security"

SnowAngel Devs Security

~SnowAngel

IT Student po ako so I agree somehow to this. When it comes to OS, yes maganda gamitin si LINUX kasi bukod sa free and open software siya you can modified it, pwedi mong icustomize yung buong setting depende sa gusto ng user but when it comes to security di hamak na mas secured ang MAC OS the only thing is that masyado siyang mahal, pero secured compare sa Windows and Linux. Sa anti-virus naman, I don't use BitDefender, AVG ang gamit ko but I switch into Kaspersky kasi msyado siyang mabigat. Sa browser naman I fully agree na maganda ang TOR kaya nga marami ang gumagamit nito specially sa deep web kasi unlike chrome and other browser si tor tinatago niya ang identity ng user meaning anonymous ka dun pero kung hindi kaya ni PC then use VPN para secured ka din marami namang free and secured vpn. And last, YES ALWAYS BACK UP, nagthethesis na ako so BACK UP can save my  future ..

Re: Do we want our own coin?
by
seafoodgirl
on 11/05/2018, 05:07:43 UTC
I saw a thread earlier asking about Philippine based or targeted coins, and there have been a few attempts at a country coin. Is this really something that we are interested in?

The purposes for others was for remittances, for general investing, for bills payments and banking, for OFWs, for rewards, for points.

Would we like something similar to Bitcoin ATMs where you can buy and sell on a machine?

Do we want a free airdrop? Or an ICO? Or a mixture of both? (Bounties of course will be available.)

Discuss.

Maganda syempre kung magkakaraoon tayo ng sareli nating coin, it is a proof that our country is developing indeed, but if we are going to create our own coin we need that coin to be accepted even in international exchange kase kung dito lang yun sa Pilipinas eventually babagsak lang rin yun at pag nangyari yun ano nalang mangyayari dun sa mga taong still holding that kind of coin di ba? Possible rin naman na magkaroon at tanggapin ang coin natin internationally but it will be a long process and we don't know what will happen soon, so instead of having our own coin why not adapt or franchise other ? And palaguin nalang lalo.

Re: Philippines Legalizes Cryptocurrency Exchanges in Economic Zone
by
seafoodgirl
on 11/05/2018, 03:44:28 UTC
Quote from: CNN
The Philippine government is welcoming nearly a dozen cryptocurrency companies to operate in a special tax-friendly economic zone situated in close proximity to a number of neighboring countries.

According to a Reuters report, the Philippines will legalize the entry of 10 blockchain and cryptocurrency companies to operate in the Cagayan Economic Zone Authority (CEZA), a government-controlled economic zone that is within an hour’s flight away from the likes of Hong Kong, China, and Taiwan.

The government aims to woo cryptocurrency companies to operate out of the economic zone with tax benefits to help generate employment opportunities locally, Cagayan Economic Zone Authority chief Raul Lambino told Reuters.

Philippines start to legalize bitcoin that is because day by day may dumdagdag na gumagamit ng bitcoin, and because we are in the democratic country as citizen we have the rights kaya nga naalis ang martial law because of that right at isa pa kahit sila makikinabang din dun, knowing na nagboboom ang  economy ng bitcoin sa buong mundo. At hindi malayo na bitcoin na ang ipapasok ng mga OFW someday. So keep inviting para madami ang makaalam about bitcoin para tuluyan na siyang tanggapin ng market.

Re: What if you forget your bitcoin wallet password?
by

on 11/05/2018, 02:29:40 UTC
it is perfectly. but where are the guarantees that these guys will not be able to recover your password and just do not steal your money? I think there is only one option: always write down your password.

I agree with you, knowing that they can retrieve your bitcoin account they definitely knows how to access and to get in to your account, so still it is risky. so the only way and safest way is to store your bitcoin account information in different places for you not to forget nor lose it.

Re: Why do some government ban bitcoin?
by
seafoodgirl
on 11/05/2018, 02:08:06 UTC
China-based cryptocurrency exchange BTCC suspended all domestic trading in yuan last weekend. The decision came on the heels of a September 5 statement from regulatory authorities in China, which required all domestic cryptocurrency exchanges publish closing announcements, stop registering new users, and establish a schedule to cease yuan-denominated trading by September 15. Huobi and OKCoin — two other exchanges based in China — have announced similar plans to stop trading. To be clear: China has not banned the use of cryptocurrencies. It has banned cryptocurrency exchanges and initial coin offerings (ICOs). Even still, it has prompted some to consider whether a government might ban cryptocurrencies like bitcoin — and, perhaps more importantly, whether such a ban would be effective Smiley Smiley Smiley

I think it depends on what kind of government you are living in, like in our country we are in democratic form, so people has the full rights, the only thing is that bitcoin is not yet popular in lower market that's why the government is prohibiting the use of bitcoin, but if bitcoin starts to invade the lower market the government will eventually allow using it.

Re: Reasons why Bitcoin is droping:
by
seafoodgirl
on 09/05/2018, 08:48:20 UTC
Bitcoin dropping because of news but the market is recovering slowly thats a normal in market no need to panic

I agree with this, one of the reason why bitcoin is dropping is because of media/news. I once saw a news in one of the networks here in the Philippines that talks about bitcoin as a scam, according to them many people will invest and in the long run they will discover that those are just a scam. But if Government will help to control and stabilize bitcoin, bitcoin will go up and forward as the time passes by.

Re: Bitcoin & College students .
by
seafoodgirl
on 09/05/2018, 08:26:40 UTC
I believe that a huge portion of the the crypto community are still young college students that don't have any necessities that need another source of income aside from their scholarships / the money they are getting from their parents .
And apart from spending their cryptos on either betting or purchasing goods/video games from online markets , many of these students didn't make plans for what they'll do with their coins in the future.
I myself have had many thoughts about hodling and launching a business as soon as i graduate with the coins in my possession , yet i'm not exactly sure what i'll be doing ..
So i'm really curious about :
- On what do you spend your coins apart than partying/gambling/paying for tuition loans ?
- Do you have any future plans for your coins if you are hodling any ?

I agree with you that many of the people who are investing in bitcoin and crypto are young people who, in many cases, are college students and i happen to be one of them.  I plan on using my crypto investment earnings on other investments and/or to buy something ill need in the future such as a car or a down payment on a house.

I also agree to you because I myself is also a college student specifically a 3rd year student. And as a student I don't have any means of income other than my scholarship and my part-time job in a fast food chain but still it is not enough to support my daily needs. And if I happen to have a cryptocurrency I will invest it to company like car company or any successful business nowadays.
