Does anybody know what batches were refunded? The last post I saw from Steamboat regarding refunds was on 9/11 when he stated that batches 5 and 6 were refunded. I had a refund request in for Batch 3 and haven't received a refund, nor have I heard anything from Steamboat...
It looks like people are starting to get their miners already too...so should I expect delivery of a miner instead of a refund?

So I am a first batch KnC customer who just got my Mercury at the end of last week. After some initial difficulties upgrading to the latest firmware etc. I got some help from Henrik from ORSoC in IRC, he ssh'd into my machine changed a bunch of settings and got it hashing at ~100gh/s. Reason being that 1/4 of my chip is dead due to a hardware issue. Glancing over the KnC forums I can see that I am far from alone having a defective chip and want to know how to go about getting it replaced. Henrik from ORSoC mentioned that i will need to return my chip for replacement.
Obviously I have no interest in sending the chip back to Sweden before they can send me back another one, as even the 100 gh/s my miner can do is much better than the 0 I will get as soon as i send it out. I wanted to post here to see if there is anyway we can try to get KnC Miner to do some sort of advanced RMA program. They've no doubt proven themselves for their hardware, and ability to keep promises (at least significantly better than every company in the field with the exception of ASICMINER) and hardware issues aside I have had a fantastic customer experience with KnC. I'd like to see if we can propose some sort of advanced RMA program, where a neutral forum member will hold escrowed BTC funds between KnC's customers and KnC, so that KnC can safely send out replacement chips to customers with defective units, without fear that the customer will run off with both chips.
This is something I think would be greatly beneficial to all customers who have been affected by hardware defects, and still not place any undue costs on KnC for the advanced replacement of chips. let me know if there is any support for this sort of program around here, I'm sure will enough support something like this could happen.

+1 to this. I'm basically in the same boat as you.
I need one of the 4 boards in a Jupiter RMA'd or something. KnC must not be working weekends. They aren't answering e-mails. I have always had a reply within 12-24 hours, unless I am being ignored. Which doesn't bode well if I need refunds for November.

I feel your pain. I'm in the same boat. I'm hoping that their turnaround time on RMA's are quick.
Will KNC allow individuals who purchased their hardware but are not utilizing the hosting service from byteminr to participate in their mining pool?
If not, how come? (ie. is it a programming nightmare to only allow KNC machines to access the pool and reject other mining hardware?)

Good to hear that they have taped out. Presumably they have working prototypes in the lab and are ckecking EMC compliance, getting CE approval, etc.
I don't think you need CE approval if customers have to provide their own PSU's. Which I thought was why they went that route.

I simply applied the rule of three.
It gives these numbers :
On the 4100 orders, there is an estimated total of 4573 Jupiters, 2207 Saturns and 315 Mercury ordered.
That is a total of 2302TH ! And it will only go up until KNCMiner blocks the orders or says that they will deliver new orders in November or later.
That's over $40 million USD in orders!!!
I don't believe the rule of 3 is applicable to this situation.

They only quote shipping day on the original batch of pre-orders, not new orders.
Ah ok. I did order a mecury first day, but I thought I saw people have 1 day.
Mercury wasn't even available till yesterday... You are 3 weeks late to get a pre-order q list number. Day one was June 3rd. You will simply be added to the que.

Not sure whether you'll get a 1 Th/s Neptune. Mercury is a tiny planet and Juipter, followed by Saturn are the largest in our 9 planet solar system. Neptune would have to be between Mercury and Saturn.
I think KnC will need some help with names as we centre outside of out solar system in future...

Shouldn't there be a column for preorder numbers? I believe the information is relevant.
With regards to the shipping queue, my understanding is that if you had preorder number(not just the 1-500) that takes precedence over the new order number.
Also, wouldn't it be better to host this on google drive or in the cloud? I imagine this list getting very long.

I am not willing to publicly disclose all of the information until I get the green light.

I'm pretty sure that the 7 day window KNC is referring to is for payments for new orders and not for the pre-orders...

ASIC's big advantage is that they consume even less power than FPGA's and the devices typically have smaller footprint (ie. Avalon's 85 Gh/s rig vs a horde of FPGA's on racks).
I'm extremely curious to see how the network hashrate will be over the next several months. It's only been two months since I started reading into bitcoins and the total network hashrate has doubled as well as the difficulty. I can't seem to help but wonder what all this computing power can be used for other than mining bitcoins...the amount of computing power is staggering.
