The empire strikes back..:

Matching blows with Washington, Beijing’s tariff hike brings the accumulative tariff total to 84% on goods from US, as trade war rapidly intensifies

-> https://www.scmp.com/economy/china-economy/article/3305873/china-fires-back-stern-rebuke-trumps-tariff-escalation

Interesting times ahead. Starting to want one of those Greenlandish MAGA hats (those that say "Make America Go Away").

USA has a huge deficit with China. China's tariffs are futile.

Let the chaos continue

in somewhat trembling voice...."you just wait...one day soon we will be 20-30% up on the daily candle".

my inner child is hurting...silently
my inner adult says: "you, you and you, all mo-fos, what the f!"
my inner advanced age guy is yelling: "get off my "porch", you freeloaders and mindless speculators."

...awaiting another post(s) about how someone loaded bigly at 78, 77.5, 77, 76,5, etc

my inner WO is.. thinking the memes really suck if this was a real dippy panik ohnoes kinda thing. lame even.

My next number is lower.

Trump is now at 104% to China starts tomorrow.

Any think China rattles back and goes to match it?

My guess is Trump would pop right back and go to 156% and offer deals to countries willing to Tariff China.

China would be foolish to continue to fight back unless the fight is somehow invisible from US eyes, this is a battle they can't win. Fact is, China took USA manufacturing away from the US consumer so that they could then sell the same products back to them. Without the US consumer China has too few buyers for the manufacturing capacity that they took from the USA and other countries. What they need to do is somehow get domestic consumption up to replace this consumption. Achievable, but it will be slow and will require lots and lots of stimulating the Chinese consumer.

Trump will indeed go to 156% if need be. He won't stop. He is trying to reorganise the USA from a consumer only economy back to a producer and consumer economy like it used to be decades ago. Make America Great Again and all that. A self sufficient economy.

Not sure why people are so worried! Cramer predicts a bloodbath on Monday… so we will be fine!

haha, I saw that. End of the day markets will probably be limit up.

It's entertaining watching the panic though. People always think it is the end of the world, fact is trump hasn't done jack to the monatary system so nothing has actually changed. We're still going to get an ever increasing money supply, which means number/s will be up again in the not too distant future. Those who understand this will be buying the global dip.

Could all the buzz about pauzing military aid to Ukraine be trembling the markets?

Markets are trembling for lots of reasons. I still see a drop down to 70k as very possible in the current environment. But who knows what could happen all it takes is a tweet and boom everything changes.

Don’t get fooled by the US strategic crypto reserve announcements

“all that glitters is not gold”

Will they actually go for bitcoin as their reserved digital currency or they are going to assumed on all the confiscated bitcoin in their disposal as reserve, or maybe they are even going for any shitcoin like Trump coin.

Anything aside Bitcoin is nothing.

Could be the so called "art of the deal" bullshit where you ask for something stupid that no one will accept then downgrade to just Bitcoin as a compromise. But it's not actually a compromise as that's all you wanted the whole time.

So it appears that the rumor is Trump is going to eliminate capital gains tax on crypto this Friday. I’ll believe it when I see it, but that would be one hell of a gift. If the market can get back to new highs with the states and a strategic reserve buying plan things will get extremely exciting in a hurry.

Would definitely be nice. And justified in my opinion. The market doesn't seem to agree though.

Wall Streeters live by faking the major moves.
That said, IF this is what would happen, I wonder how this would affects ETFs since they are related, but not the same?

IMHO, this would also result in some OGs selling...and, maybe, it is designed to cause exactly this...selling into the BSR, perhaps.

EDIT: The big winners would be Coinbase and, perhaps, Kraken as it would dramatically increase trading volumes.

It would result in a fair bit of OGs selling IMO, but perhaps demand would outweigh it. Very low chance of happening though. I'm just hoping for some kind of announcement that ends all this "crypto" speculation about what's going to happen or isn't. Honestly, this whole thing is leaving a very bad taste in my mouth.

MSTR might be an interesting one to watch today.

Why?
Because of the liquidation FUD?

Quote
In truth, MicroStrategy doesn't have any liquidation price. Unlike at other times in MicroStrategy's history, all of the company's debt is now unsecured. Its creditors don't hold any BTC as collateral and they have no power to force Saylor to sell any of it.

Source: https://protos.com/what-is-microstrategys-bitcoin-liquidation-price/

Nope, because I don't think they have been that affected by this plunge so far. Pre-market has them at -3%. I suspect that MSTR investors are confident this just means that he'll be stacking more coins with his buys, meaning higher returns when the market pumps again.

Carnage is just a colloquial expression to overdramatise and allow engagement in a more-than-normal situation in corn Wall Observing.

Yes watch out with the lanuguage or you'll have Jay accusing you of being a panic driven bear when you're actually not.

Btw

Are the all time low of btc on exchanges in the room with us?

Haha, that was always a joke I think. The on-chain people can't identify the exchange addresses correctly. Also, it takes 10 minutes to load an exchange with fresh coins again anyway, so really, how relevant is it.

WOers, don't despair.
End-of-year, 200 grand.
Buy one, get one free!

#haikuquickie

...correction...1.5 free ...for now.

Here is a little theory: since bull market was shorter and meeker than expected, bear market would also be shorter than expected.
"wham, bam, thank you ma'am".
WBTYM

If that was the cycle top, it was lower than the last one, which probably means the next will be lower than this one. Therefore, next cycle target price would be about 130k maybe. That doesn't sound likely IMO so at this juncture I don't believe we have hit the cycle top yet. A shorter bear market could just mean this is a correction in the bull market.

Of course, I'm usually wrong so this is probably the start of an 80% correction and we'll be back in the $20ks by mid summer.

109 is > than 69K, not sure what you are referring to. A % increase?
If macro factors trump cycles, next peak would be unpredictable, ain't it?
whether it is a correction or a mini-bear depends on duration. In 2017 corrections were very deep, but lasted only a short time.
Let's see what happens here.

Yeah I mean each cycle (so far) ATH is less and less in percentage terms.

What time frame would you consider a mini-bear, 2013 sort of thing?

What was the bottom meant to be? $75k? Need to know when I should give up focusing on Bitcoin for another year or 2? lol

It's amazing honestly, no matter how mature the market gets, how many big institutional investors and corporations get involved, all of them panic sell like a bunch of noobs.

All the people I grew up with are dying. It sucks, I know barely any of the actors/muscians post 2005.

I better go download and rewatch some of his old movies.

Daily rsi the lowest it’s been for 8 months. Seems oversold now, either we bounce soon or it’s see you in four years.

I don't think 4 years, but definitely an extended time.

Though I think we'll bounce soonish but we will probably be stuck in a range for a length of time similar to last year.

the company, in its press release, called "a clear path to fit a million qubits on a single chip that can fit in the palm of one's hand."

well, a path is not tomorrow, but it might come sooner than people were expecting...apparently, they conjured a new state of matter to boot.

A good write up https://scottaaronson.blog/?p=8669

Empty mempool.... Starting to feel bad for it!.... Feels like a new kid on the playground without any friends to play with!...

not sure what to make of it.. 40+ millions wallets and only 1000 or so transactions... Is Layer 2 - Lightning Network working?

One thing is for sure... Hash rate will jump 6% higher in 18 hours!

Which is in fact great. Ordinals and other retarded stuff (inscriptions or whatever they're called) are gone finally. It basically means Bitcoin is turning into store of value not some kind of dick pic or fart sound storage. You have to understand one thing: it's not the number of transactions in the mempool that's driving Bitcoin price up.

I've been noticing this. The chain can not be spammed with uneconmical bullshit forever, the high fees will eventually drain all the wealth and the miners will put it to ecconmical use by expanding capex. So this decline was a certaininty just waiting to happen.

I also wonder how much of this drop is also to do with shitcoins falling out of favor. Less Bitcoin being used to buy that shit perhaps, transactions between exchanges? the LN is also probably having an effect, as well as batching transactions, and no doubt a few other things.

Another post-Sailor-selloff?

Was just about to say the same. Did he actually buy yet though or did he just hint about it on twitter?

Hopefully, he might be buying the dip this time.
