Re: Can you really make money on Forex?
by
soros017
on 20/03/2018, 18:02:27 UTC
Yes, but the level of discipline that it requires is really high. It's a very old market, with many experienced traders, and the most successful ones devote most of their time reading charts and trying to understand the events that move the economy.
You also can not expect profits like 30% in a few weeks, as we sometimes see in crypto. It's a market with much lower volatility, but the high liquidity and the set of techniques that can help you to make more accurate predictions can make it worthwhile.

Re: Solution to poverty?

Poverty is on the top problem in our planet, share your thoughts on how we can help solve poverty.
You need two things to solve that problem: education and real jobs.

Education is pitiful in our society, and the market doesn't work how it should, because of taxes and stupid policies. If society doesn't mobilize to solve these things, there is no way things could get better.

You won't know until someone pumps it.

Pretty much this, and ironic I am quoting this person here because I was gonna recommend Byteball for hidden gem Cheesy. I know it isn't hidden but I think it will moon hard in 2018 similar to what XRB did end of last year.
Using the best that we have in terms of scalable technology and the feature for sending bytes via e-mail, it is the best example of innovation that I've seen in crypto lately. And if the distribution really ends this year, yeah, this can be a great year. Smiley

It surely can, but I guess we may not see the level of growth that we have seen last year, until we have something like Lightning Network going forward.

Re: What happens if BTC gets regulated?

There is a large number of people who don't use or invest in Bitcoin because of the lack of regulation, so I think that if governments started to regulate Bitcoin, it would only benefit from it.

Re: Is holding bitcoin Greedy?
by

on 10/01/2018, 21:48:32 UTC
Most people now with the rise of bitcoin value, just want to hold bitcoin for as long as they can so that they can maximize their worth. But isn't it a little too greedy to just keep holding bitcoin?
We've all read that story in the school with the moral "Greed is a Curse".
So what if too much greed in bitcoin may backfire? What if, the hodlers end up with nothing?
By that logic, holding gold or any other asset is also being greedy, just because you profit by holding it. If that's your definition of greedy, I see nothing wrong with that. However, I see it as choosing the best we have to preserve our wealth and diversify our net worth.

Re: Is Bitcoin a currency or asset?
by
soros017
on 10/01/2018, 21:27:02 UTC
It is both. Bitcoin is trying to deliver something that was once tried, centuries ago, with gold, when it was used as a currency.
With gold we know that it failed, but here we have a different scenario, since Bitcoin can not be controled by banks or governments. For the first time in centuries we are having the opportunity to have, again, something that might be able to succeed as a store of value and as a medium of exchange.

Re: What impresses you the most about Bitcoin?

What I find incredible about Bitcoin is the way the network self-regulates, keeping the incentives for people to continue mining it, and at the same time providing a great product.

It is currently at more than 50% of Bitcoin's marketcap. I don't even know how it got to this point, but it might end up really bad.

With a quick search you will find out that ETH doesn't scale. And even if they solve the scalability part, which would require some alien type of tech, it's really hard to find real demand for decentralized smart contracts.

Re: Why Bitcoin is going down?
by

Why bitcoin start going down and down will it goes below 10000$?
The only bad news that I recently saw is that Chinese government is closing some mining operations in China.
Looking from a different point of view, it is not a bad thing for Bitcoin, because it will make miners spread around the world, and therefore make Bitcoin more decentralized.

If it is what people say it is, I mean, just US Dollar sitting in some bank in Taiwan, there is probably nothing wrong about it. The only problem I see is that it is centralized, which is a point of failure.

...it refers to the fact that it can beat its market capitalization.
Which currency can not? Just create two and a half billion tokens and sell each one at $1.

Market cap is not a good metric anymore, we need better parameters for valid benchmarking.

Do yourself a favor, and stop using freaking legacy addresses. Consolidate your funds in SegWit addresses instead.

Should I invest in cryptocurrency and ICOs?
In cryptos, it depends on the project. The first thing to do is to ask yourself what this currency can do that Bitcoin can not. I would never buy an ICO, for risk management reasons.

It depends on the kind of return you're expecting. I would say that most people buying right now to make a quick buck will be disappointed. But long term, great things can happen. And you might not have to wait more than a year, since we are very close of having Lightning Network.

If your definition of better crypto depents on the speed of transactions, you might be better using your visa card. Bitcoin's strength lies in decentralization.

Re: Bitcoin traders, why don't you just trade forex?
by
soros017
on 02/01/2018, 14:21:02 UTC
It is a market with much higher liquidity, but the volatility is much smaller compared to Bitcoin. So I guess it depends on the profile of the investor. People looking to make more profit in a shorter period of time are more likely to choose Bitcoin, but those with millions of dollars to invest will probably choose something more established, like the forex market.

Re: Imagine Bitcoin recognized around the world.
by

Do you think there will be a chance that bitcoin will be recognized by all people around the world? If so, what would you contribute for the success of bitcoin in adapting human culture?
Well, that's our goal, right? And we have the conditions to make that happen. Otherwise, hundreds of developers and ourselves would be wasting our time here. I myself would like to create a service to increase Bitcoin adoption, but that's for a future when I have more experience and capital available for that kind of investment.
