Thanks man, I did actually try before you replied and got denied - that all rhymed...

Anyway yeah, makes sense since I would still have access to the private keys, so wouldn't really work as collateral.

Hey thanks for the quick reply. I'll reconsider what I may be able to offer as collateral.

All the best.

Hi Condoras,

Sorry I first sent this to your PM but am re-posting to this thread since, as per your instruction, you don't normally discuss such in PM's.

Hi condoras,
Sorry to bother you if this is dumb question but would the following be accepted as valid collateral.

https://wallet.near.org/profile/shower.near

This is my NEAR wallet with about 1700 NEAR, 1615 NEAR is locked in vesting contract which is released, in parts, over the next 1.5 years. It is staked with earnings compounding.

If that was feasible I would be requesting an $800 dollar loan (approximately 50% of collateral at current value, I am willing to negotiate this) (time frame of 15 days maximum)

Thanks for your time, I just could not find a fitting answer as to whether the wallet would work as collateral elsewhere.

I haven't given much thought to the process either, as I am fairly new, but I would assume I'd have to give you the seed phrase of my account. Or are there any routes? Anyway I would love to go through the process on your thread, if indeed it was all good with collateral

Thanks!

Pretty interesting stuff thanks, its strange because, without trying any of the games available (most are in early access i think) I get the impression there's a hyper focus on money swapping hands. Which seems like a bad thing. But you know what that little Ejin "about" section was pretty cool, got me interpreting it more as the objective being to bring the virtual and physical world together, so reducing the space between virtual assets and physical in how we interact. I'm just riffing but, the potential in immersiveness sounds fun.

Can a wallet with vested tokens be used as collateral?

For example a Near wallet with locked and staked tokens that release linearly for the next year and a half, Or a Flow wallet with staked and locked flow.

Can these be used as collateral here for a loan?

To be clear I'm trying to research as many details as I can before I ask for a loan, I've gathered that as a noobie, it's risky even to ask.

Anyone in on FLOW?

Flow claims to platform of choice for a new generation of games and apps etc. https://www.onflow.org/primer. I have no idea what the new generation of game related to the blockchain is supposed to look like, but that sounds good right? Is blockchain technology any significant part of the gaming industry yet? What would make gaming adopt blockchain protocols on mass?

I'll do some digging but in the meantime, was wandering why I couldn't find flow thread yet.

Telegram provides maximum opportunities for editing messages - yes. There is almost no regulation - yes. But where did you get the idea that a third-party service should be responsible for what you invest in shitty projects?
If there is not a single negative review, then something is wrong here. Try to find out why, if your message was deleted - draw conclusions. You should always think with your head, no one will do it for you.

Ophh brilliantly put, it's like TG for TG, a place where - despite the lack of whitepapers (as if I read them).. despite the lack of audits, as if they guarantee shit.. there's - a closed group of owners, investors and prospective investors who are willing to share their views, facts, and opinions, so that you can actually find out about the project your either already in (for other reasons) or looking to invest. And your finding out with living information, that is to say a live feed, so that its not only potentially highly engaging, its also very revealing if don't read everything at face value or actually use it to ask direction questions and demand face value. Live.

Its funny how so many groups tend to go through the same motions on TG, you can read the vibez dude. Anyway tbh I'm one of those guys who ends up joining ALL the groups on TG, being apprehensive to leave because im scared ill miss something. But having to deal with a torrent of useless (to me at least) chat to get to the good stuff.

Yeah the concept never really struck as a fantastic idea, quite in the same way as it had been promoted. I do think it is innovative and correct direction stuff but, as you've put it ^ seems mostly promotional.

Has anyone else had a bit of 'mare when it comes to staking?
by

Maybe the trick is to have a solid pre plan before staking your crypto anywhere.... but, for me, despite the boom and hype all the way through to the now pretty universal idea of staking your crypto I've found I've slipped up multiple times. It's to the point where I believe staking has caused me more headaches, when its supposed to be doing the opposite.

There's high gas fees and there's also the requirement of being early unless your whale enough. But my main gripe is with lock-up periods, excessively high ones. I, in a very basic fashion, understand the economics behind having lock-up periods as it decreases sell pressure, but I've come to the conclusion that excessively long lock-ups can almost never give the customer a return worth the risk for 99% of altcoins.

I've got two experiences that burned me, one with a stake of elrond on crypto.com app, where by the end of 100 days or so they had created a new coin, elrond gold, to which I could swap my unlocked tokens for, the only coin I could swap them for, and the exchange rate I was given meant the dollar value decreased 60% or so. I here its doing well these days but anyway, crypto.com where no help, but completely fair in there answer that, that's all part of the risk.

Another burn I feel is the bloody 90 days it takes to unstake nexus mutual, alright I'm ranting now I mean I did agree to these contracts, the issue is though! That the rewards stopped accruing pretty much 2weeks into my stake... so that I had to watch my asset do nothing for 3 months. It didn't end there either but you get my points.

So at the end of the day, unless for a reasonably short time I for one prefer to hold my tokens. Learning that the hard way..

Do yall feel this way, or has anyone had very successful staking ventures?

Been checking it out thanks. Interesting finding out that's how DAOs work! I wonder now what makes a good DAO...? and how much the governance process determines this

I'm pretty new to crypto, but one thing I often hear about is the utility of "governance" tokens. Does anyone have any examples of the governance system being clearly successful/negative for a project?

Any more personal stories of votes going against you, and it mattering?
