anyone ever had an issue that the wallet shows a message:
"Please check that your computers date and time are correct! If your clock is wrong ...."
happened to me for the first time (I replaced the motherboard, but with the exact same model)
and yes, date and time are correct (both windows/bios)
it is syncing though, I can see the blocks changing when I do a mouseover on "syncing" in the wallet

I don't remember the exact process to fix this, but basically you need to change where your system is getting it's online clock from. Somewhere in windows theres a menu that lets you change it from for example "nasa.gov" to something else. That should fix any system time sync issues.

Great to see all this positive news! It looks like things are going to start moving much more rapidly. With large energy companies willing to accept SLR as a payment, it gives a lot of legitimacy to the project. I think things will snowball from here, as we can already see with growing interest from the energy sector.
I think if it wasn't for all the FUD going on in the markets right the value would be rising fast. This is a good opportunity for people to enter the market during the January sales.

In crypto world there doesn't always need to be a major news event for a rise in value. There have been developments over the past months that could have pushed the price up but didn't. Now there is no news and price goes up. Same thing happens in all other currencies. New wallet is in testing which provides some nice improvements over the old one, so this could be savvy investing based on the future. There are big plans laid out for the future after this update also such as the Copay integration which then leads to other things. A good time to buy while it is cheap.

Hi, it looks crazy. No major improvements, no partnerships, no significant adoption shifts, but the price goes up. Am I wrong?
Likely word is getting out more. Solarcoin has flown under the radar and is slowly getting more attention.
As far as development goes if you follow the slack channel you can keep more up to date as that's where most of the talking takes place.
The biggest current development would be the new wallet is in testing. Lower memory usage, faster syncing, security updates to bitcoin core 1.5.
Only today they announced connecting blockpass protocol to the solcrypto dataloggers. This should help securely verify ID for data logger participants while keeping information private and secure. This is all development leading to creating a global solar picture stored on the block chain, which itself is of massive value.

He's clearly worried he sold to soon. All coins go up and down and since he sold we are up over 100% compared to USD. Pretty much everything is down compared to bitcoin right now so no suprise there.
If he made as much money as he is claiming then he should be happy and thankful to the project and people behind it. Instead he keeps coming back like an insecure child trying to spread fud and burn the bridge behind him.
I also recall his posts through this thread thanking people for cheap coins everytime there was a dip. So he was either lying then or he is lying now about buying under 500 satoshi. Likely he is pissed he bought high and sold low.

Depends where you are coming from. If you have been holding Bitcoin the price right now is very cheap. If you are coming into it from fiat then the price right now is quite high. Also don't listen to any financial advice from the internet.

I agree individuals are important, but also big companies as they often supply hundreds of thousands of individuals. It would be nice though to target the crypto community more, better marketing can help with this.

My understanding and from what I see is most of the outreach is to industry and government. In terms of marketing to the public I dont think there in much of an effort right now. Reasons as I understand they are waiting on development progress before making any big push. The target seems to be more large solar instalations rather than individuals or speculators.
From an investors point of view it's frustrating as the intention is to make money quickly. There are many coins out there that focus mostly on marketing which drive up more hype.

Not meant as FUD, SolarCoin is one of my favorite coins. If Bitcoin goes to 1 million and SLR goes to 1 Sat then this means FIAT has a slim chance to recover. This puts SLR at 1 penny per coin and SLR is 25 cents right now. That is only a small drop at that point and completely recoverable by any investor by hedging at 1 sat, then it can move up later. Also you have the capability for Bitcoin to go to 2 million as Hyperinflation will ravage economies that did not get in to Bitcoin soon enough. The value of all currency starts pouring into Bitcoin and all Alt coins will not be able to sustain other than artificially pumping as people sell out and groups retain them and pump. So SLR could boost also and not stay at 1 Satoshi. I hope you realize that ETH must pump since it is paired with FIAT at Coinbase. Do you think someone will give you 1 Dollar real money and not retain the value for what they paid? Anyone buying at $300 paid for the banks to offset their expenditure.
The problem comes from needing to sell to FIAT. There needs to be a Magic number and it should be the Wholesale cost of Power. This is where the market should actually be at but there is no reason to buy SLR and sustain it there along with the leaky ceiling of Claims that can rain down on the market. If the coin were to leave the economy as Bitcoin there is no reason to buy SLR other than trying to take profit and this will always do the dead cat bounce especially when the top end is the actual cost of Power vs the draining of the leaky ceiling leaving to Bitcoin.
By Pegging the Coin at Wholesale Power and allowing people to spend their coin at that level by trading it internally would allow an economy to grow and real value to sustain.
Granted Bitcoin going to a million seems far-fetched, but with the looming Bank Bail-In's from a Quadrillion dollar call on the Derivative market you can see the Sands of time are pouring to match the quadrillion grains of market gains banks wish to take from the world.
You base your assumptions on a changing economy where there is massive disruption, yet you base your assumptions of solarcoin in this scenario as a static entity that doesn't react to any changes. Currently you can exchange your SLR directly for USD, supplanting bitcoin, so it has detached from the bitcoin tow truck. Most pay their bills in fiat, buy houses in fiat, food in fiat, cars in fiat etc etc. This day you speak of where bitcoin is worth 1 million $ and people are starving in the streets after fiat currencies have hyper inflated, getting your SLR claim may be lower down of the list of priorities.

That sounds right, wasn't it a few months ago that Solarcoin was presented to the UN? Also, if I'm not mistaken, Solarcoin was presented to Parliament about the same time. Repetition is a good thing!
I didn't realize they also presented to Parliament. A lot of this information has flown under the radar.
Solarcoin looks to take the non disruptive model. This is a good thing in my opinion as working with the support of governments under proper regulation will be a path to success.

When enough solar claimants participate.
You should have bought SLR when it was a fraction of a penny, maybe then you would be less eager to try and spread FUD. There's still a long way to go though as this is a 40 + year project so it's certainly not to late to get involved. As you pointed out SLR still has a lot of room for growth.

Yeah it's cool to hear them talking about it transparently, issues that these things face and the potential that it has. The second part has just started also.

I was wondering has there ever been any talk about destroying the large pool of coins for claimants and having coins only come into existence when they are claimed? Would something like this be possible? It could help get rid of any fears or trust issues.

Volume is good even if it pushes the price down a bit. Currently it looks just like normal action to me. Lots of activity in alts right now so the more exposure the better to draw in new people. There appear to be a lot of bubbles forming right now so I'm glad we are avoiding that and price seems quite stable. My guess is most of the others will pop and people will be looking for the next opportunity to make some quick money. SLR might get caught up in this
