Getting some twitter (X) Posts (SATs on Lightning)
by

Hey All,

Looking to promote my educational website: https://thepriceinsats.com/

Here is the X channel https://x.com/in_sats

Use to post every few days, just an item, its price in sats and then the dollar value. Be great to get someone to help create the post every few days again either in a similar style or a different style.

Essentially you create the post and image, send to me on email and I post on X

Will be paying SATs only, no FIAT - prefer to pay via lightning

Re: Firmware for S9 SE

Have you flashed the unit with the latest firmware? I mean the latest firmware from Bitmain?
if not flash it first and try it again because 3TH/s is a huge drop from 14th/s you might also need to check and maybe it's overheating that is why you just got the 3TH/s.
Check the kernel logs why the hashrate drops a lot.

I did actually speak to Support at Bitmain and they mentioned that it looks like its something to do with the Fans - they mentioned unplugging and then plugging the fans back in and doing a reset of the device.

So i'll give both a go and see if either work them.

Do you know if you can increase the voltage on the Low Power Mood?

I don't think that is an option, Lower Power Mode LPM comes with it's own default settings which is lower votlage and frewuency, if you have a certain voltage you want to try then why use Low Power Mode in the first place? Also what mining gear are you using? The same one you mentioned in the topic or a different one?

So I am using 2 S9 SEs.

From bitmain, they show the other S9s operating on Low Power Mode at 14 TH/s at around 1300 Watts https://support.bitmain.com/hc/en-us/articles/360019738593-Difference-between-Low-Power-Mode-and-Low-Power-Enhanced-Mode

But as I mentioned, when i put mine on LPW, it only does about 3 TH/s. I'm just wondering if I have to wait 3-5 hours for it to 'optimise' has rate. Sorry these are some basic questions.

Increasing Hash Rate in Low Power Mode (S9 SE)
by

Thanks to BitMaxz who informed me of the 'Hidden Menu' on the Antminer menu.

I have now switched 'Low Power Mode' ON

The problem is that the miner is hashing at about 2.5 Th/s I was hoping that it would hash at 8-9 Th/s - i've only left it for an hour or so. Reading other posts it takes like 3-4 hours to learn what it wants to do. Can someone confirm this?

I am running the default firmware from Bitmain - ANTMINER-S9 SE-user-OM-201909181551-sig_4034.tar.gz

Or are there other hidden menus on the S9 SE?

If your purpose is the low-power mode then you don't need to flash it with different firmware because there is a way to get this hidden feature on this unit try the method by mikeywith below

Braiins, Awesomeminer doesn't support this unit yet and I tried to search on Google there is Vnish firmware that supports this unit but I do not know if the site that I found on Google is legit or not because the vnish firmware I know safe is from asic.to.

I can't believe it's just hidden there!

Thank you so much!

Found two that i'm gonna try but let me know if there are others

1) https://mskminer.com/en/ (mentions support on the website and download file is named s9se)

2) https://www.djayos.com/ (Found after a search on this forum - mentioned that it had worked on a S9SE)

I'll let people know, its just good to test when these units cost very little after the halving nad high energy prices.

Solar Panel Considerations
by

on 03/04/2024, 07:16:57 UTC
Hey Guys,

Planning to stick some solar panels on the roof (14/16) and intend to run a miner (s9) or similar, little older that won't take all the juice and be comfortable on battery when the sun isn't shining.

Any considerations I should know about?

Planning to run it as a lottery miner, interested in the heat side.

I wanted to know if I could copy the blockchain data from my windows machine and use it when i set-up the full nodes on ubuntu, or would the file types be different an therefore not compatible?
I think this should work, and it's definitely worth a try. If it doesn't work, nothing is lost and you'll start a fresh sync.

Well I'll be trying tonight, so I'll keep you updated on how I progress 👍

Using the data from my Windows node on Ubuntu
by

on 09/02/2024, 13:27:53 UTC
So I run a full bitcoin node on windows OS currently, and I want to set-up 3 more nodes (for different locations).

I plan to set these nodes up on an Ubuntu OS as its free, lighter and just a preference.

I wanted to know if I could copy the blockchain data from my windows machine and use it when i set-up the full nodes on ubuntu, or would the file types be different an therefore not compatible? Probably a stupid question as even I pointed out the file type issue, but I know many of you in the community have greater knowledge on nodes than me.

Help appreciated.

Bestchange has a list of exchangers for BTC LN, although there is no bank transfer available, I found several alternatives that accept GBP and EUR
https://www.bestchange.com/wise-gbp-to-bitcoin-ln.html

Disclaimer: I haven't tested it. DWOYR

Many thanks, I'll do my research and maybe give it a go.
