Which problems need solving for widespread crypto use?
by
tightcoat490
on 21/11/2018, 15:13:49 UTC
As of today, cryptocurrencies are still mostly seen as investments for technologically competent risk-takers rather than actual currencies for the layman.

Which current and upcoming ICO's are solving the problems of:

1. Widespread crypto usability for the average Joe
2. Unparalleled security

Thoughts? Something else to add to the list?

Promising upcoming project you think is finally up to the task?

Re: Depression.. the disease of our times?

Everything happens for a reason and whenever you go against nature you get fucked over in the end. Most people are not eating the right food, getting enough sleep getting enough exercise, spending time outdoors, or spending time with family because they are prioritizing the wrong things.

This is a recipe for sadness!

People are stressed out trying to keep up with the Joneses to feel important and "successful." Obsessed over buying objects and often going into debt to pay for them.

The only thing that will make you happy is to be happy with what you already have and do what you really want to do.

Re: Those who use bitcoin to buy drugs online are doing more for bitcoin

Moderating what is and isn't "right" is a major problem and costs billions in tax dollars. People are still behind bars for selling weed but you can buy cigarettes and alcohol which have much more detrimental affects on health. You can also legally buy prescription drugs which also get you addicted and destroy your body.

Everyone should have the ability to buy whatever they want (because they'll find a way whether or not it's legal) and bitcoin represents consumer freedom in many ways.

The problem is there aren't more applications to buy standard goods in cryptocurrency, which is why decentralized marketplaces such as Origami, Daconomy and Virie will allow for more concrete use and will hopefully change this.

Re: Will the quest for a Virtual world help us improve the real world?
by
tightcoat490
on 21/11/2018, 11:20:40 UTC
You're referring to a perfect sim, which probably won't be possible for a while, but they're close enough right now and are being used to treat a variety of phobias and other mental health problems. So it's getting there and is already useful for sure. Being used for education as well as the obvious entertainment apps.

Once bandwidth inevitably increases and it is a perfect simulation it'll change life as we know it. The virtual life will be way better than real life, which will become mundane, boring and depressing.

Will globalization actually bring about more peace?
by
tightcoat490
on 21/11/2018, 11:04:55 UTC
A decent argument for globalization's major role in promoting world peace:

https://voxeu.org/article/globalisation-promotes-peace

"Our findings suggest that trade integration not only results in economic gain but can bring about significant political gain as well — such as a significant “peace dividend” between trading partners. It also explains why regional or global economic integration is often initiated to satisfy political and security motives. For example, the raison d’etre behind the formation of the EU following World War II was the desire for peace — particularly between France and Germany.

In response to the current financial crisis and economic recession, some countries have resorted to trade-restricting measures to try to protect national businesses and jobs. The world should remember that protectionism in the interwar period provoked a wave of retaliatory actions that not only plunged the world deeper into the Great Depression but also put international relations at greater risk."

I think the basis of all human issues comes from restriction. Making drugs illegal, making it "impossible" to profitably do business with certain foreigners because of imaginary lines.

The more barriers that are knocked down, and the more power the everyman has to be economically relevant, the more harmonious the world where will be as no one will be oppressed due to circumstance.

Re: We Need A New ICO Model
by
tightcoat490

I think the main problem with the current model is it's impossible to tell whether or not a project is a scam. It could have a revolutionary working product that could massively benefit the crypto-sphere but people's paranoia could potentially prevent it from ever coming to fruition, which is dumb.

Maybe someday soon AI will be able to provide a scam-o-meter of sorts and analyze which ones are worth paying attention to. Either that or an escrow system where they agree to give you back their money if the project doesn't reach its goal.

Major US Museum Becomes Third to Accept Bitcoin as Payment. Future of BTC?
by
tightcoat490
on 13/11/2018, 11:16:45 UTC
https://cointelegraph.com/news/major-us-museum-becomes-countrys-third-to-accept-bitcoin-as-payment

Great Lakes Science Center in Cleveland, Ohio is accepting Bitcoin as payment as of today.

"According to SpendBitcoins USA – a directory of retail merchants that accept Bitcoin as payment – at least two other U.S. museums already accept the cryptocurrency from visitors – the Museum of the Coastal Bend in Texas and St. Petersburg Museum of History in Florida.

The box office at Great Lakes Science Center will reportedly use crypto payments processor BitPay to handle visitors’ transactions."

This contrasts with crypto pioneer Jeff Grazik's recent comments, which stated that BTC has become more a store of value than a means of payment.

Do you think he's right or will we be using it more and more in everyday life?

Re: Is Block Chain going to be the only option for the Gaming industry ?

I think all industries will need to run on blockchain tech in the near future or people just won't participate because they won't trust anything else.

Total decentralization is also inevitable but will be less immediate. The public will have control over just about everything and is great news for global human rights and equal opportunity.

Re: A Cryptocurrency Millionaire Wants to Build a Utopia in Nevada

Sounds like John Galt lol.

I don't think he needs to build this utopia. If he really wanted to make a difference he would spend his money to develop applications that make the rest of the world a blockchain utopia. Decentralized marketplaces, decentralized social media platforms, and decentralized news platforms would be a good start.

Re: why facebook or twitter does not use blockchain now?
by
tightcoat490
on 09/11/2018, 10:58:08 UTC
Blockchain's implications go against their primary motives and sources of income, which is people's data. Twitter and Facebook do not want people's data to be protected and secure. They make money from it.

Advertisers get access to sensitive consumer information through these social media platforms in order to create targeted ad campaigns. Consumers do not get paid for their information, since they agree — whether they know it or not — to give it away for free to platforms such as Facebook and Twitter.

This is why decentralized social networks are the future.

Re: The concept of marriage is morally obsolete?

I think marriage is a horrible idea that only benefits the female, who gets to take everything and treat the guy as a slave once married.

Nice guys are taken advantage of. Most guys that are willing to marry are nice guys.

Could cryptocurrencies eliminate the root cause of war?
by
tightcoat490
on 08/11/2018, 11:25:12 UTC
Wars are always started by governments who are fighting for leverage.

Citizens are stuck in the middle and end up having to fight for causes they don't care about.
If people can do business with people all over the world without the need for centralized approval, the governments will become the obsolete enemy of progress.

Decentralization is a war against the instigators of war.

Aristotle said,

"Tolerance and apathy are the last virtues of a dying society."

This is exactly what's happening in the west-political correctness and complacency. It's been the beginning of the end for awhile now.

China could be the next superpower as its economical, technological, military, and political influence continues to expand.

Re: Macron pushes for an EU army to threaten the USA ..
by

I think the headlines greatly misrepresented the reality. They made it seem like he wanted to go to war when he basically said that France and Europe can't rely on the US for protection anymore.

“When I see President Trump announcing that he’s quitting a major disarmament treaty which was formed after the 1980s Euromissile crisis that hit Europe, who is the main victim? Europe and its security,” he said in a radio interview to mark 100 years since the end of hostilities. “Peace in Europe is precarious."

I think it's a little of all of those points, but mostly 1 and 4.

They also might not feel entirely confident with their current software, and I don't think they want "Average Joe's" to be able to make a killing. Investing has always been designed to benefit the elite, hence the complicated terminology lol. Also this isn't taught in school, but is the most profitable and fastest way to make money..

Study everything about the project. If it's legitimately solving an issue that really matters in the crypto realm, you can be sure its value will go up. You can still make a lot of money investing in the right ICO's.

Re: How to become patient?

Most psychological problems are actually physical problems.

Get adequate sleep, don't stress, exercise, spend time in nature, eat right, and you'll probably naturally notice you're very patient.

Easier said than done in today's modern world but your peace of mind depends on it.
