Re: Decentralized vs centralized cryptocurrency exchanges, which one is better?

Will Mt.Gox relaunch?

Everybody is aware of the history of Mt.Gox cryptocurrency exchange. Nowadays Brok Pierce is running a project Gox Rising. The aim of the project is to relaunch the cryptocurrency exchange and to pay damages to the creditors. So the main points of Gox Rising are:

  • Restore brand of the cryptocurrency exchange
  • Get domain
  • Make all payments and the entire financial structure of the exchange transparent. Pay not at the rate of $ 400 for Bitcoin how it was set by the court but at the rate of the current situation
  • If there is no money left, then past creditors will receive income from the future operation of the exchange, and thus debts will be repaid.

Also, Brok Pierce claims he bought 12% of McCaleb's share, although this is nowhere confirmed.

Such a case can create a positive influence on the future of the crypto world and restore the confidence to cryptocurrency.

But can the project be implemented? What do you think?

Thanks for the info. I merit this post.

Re: 3 Most Promising Cryptocurrencies in 2019 - Detailed Analysis
by
tokenrecord
on 01/03/2019, 05:55:48 UTC
1.BitTorrent(BTT/BTC)-Binance

BitTorrent (BTT) came into existence in the cryptocurrency world on Binance’s launchpad with positive support from the community and is backed by TRON community as well.

BitTorrent Price for today is $0.0009521(BTT/USDT), with a total circulating supply of $990,000,000,000 and a market capitalization of $3,630,797 and its one of the cryptocurrencies with upside potential.

Let's look at the latest 4-Hourly chart of BTT/BTC(Binance) pair:

Since its inception (31st January 2019) on the Binance exchange, the pair saw 500+% surge in satoshi within a week. It then saw a healthy pullback to 0.618 Fibonacci Levels on 10th February 2019.

Bullish Case:

24 Satoshi level has been providing preliminary support which is also the base of the triangle chart pattern.

There is a likelihood of triangle breakout in an upward direction since there is a lot of hype for the project recently. Hence the sentiments are bullish. If it breaks the triangle upside then Two key levels of Resistance(red bars) will be tested around 31 and 36 satoshis.

Read here to know in detail: https://coinswitch.co/news/3-most-promising-cryptocurrencies-in-2019-detailed-analysis

BTT will still hype, BNB looks good with the DEX and launchpad, BTC has no competitors, Keep ETH.
Some coins looks like they had fallen enough:

Any more coins to consider?

Re: Binance DEX is decentralized or not? BNB token will go up or down?
by
tokenrecord
on 01/03/2019, 05:52:06 UTC
There are a lot of discussion of new DEX from Binance being released soon on its own blockchain with BNB tokens. Lets clearify a few things so nobody inside our community will have misunderstanding about what is taking place.

Nowadays founders of centralized cryptocurrency exchanges try to transfer them to decentralized one as CEX fall under various regulations. However, to make such transformation in the way that decentralized exchanges work properly and quickly and have the liquidity is almost impossible. Either something like DEX is done, or DEX is done which works slowly. There is no possibility for the moment to make a secure blockchain with 1 billion transactions.

Everyone is aware of DEX from Binance. Binance took an existing solution on the Tendermint, changed it a bit and made its own blockchain. Such blockchain will consist of 11 nodes that will work on the principle of proof-of-stake, i.e. those who will have more binance tokens will make decisions. Half of the nodes will belong to the Binance. It turns out that there are only 11 transaction confirmation centers so it is very hard to name such platform as decentralized one. For example, EOS also has only 21 nodes, which provide the governance on the blockchain, but these 21 nodes are those which have been already selected and another 200-300 nodes are in the queue for the moment.

Governance at DEX decides which projects to list or not to list. A listing at Binance DEX will cost $ 100,000 in binance tokens. Blocks will appear every second, that is, transactions will be so fast that they will be able to fit the entire volume of transactions that are at Binance CEX now. But the truth is that they will fit the deals of those users who trade with each other and who place limit orders, but there are 10-15% of such deals at the exchange. The rest of the volume, which is inflated by market makers, will not be there. In the first days of the Binance DEX operation, it will be clear what real volume is. The founder CZ says that they want to list all the tokens, but they do not have enough technical power to do this. On the other hand, he claims that Binance DEX can turn around the 10 times volume. There are a number of nuances. Firstly, it is a fear to list new tokens. Secondly, few people are now ready to pay 3-5 million dollars to be listed at the Binance DEX.

One more thing is that you do not trade tokens at Binance DEX, but trade b-tokens, at the rate of 1 b token to 1 real token. In order to exchange your b-tokens for regular tokens, you need to come to CEX in any way. This is all done in order to increase the rate of bnb.

There are two different technologies that are necessary to distinguish. They are Binance DEX technology as a cryptocurrency exchange and marketing company in order to make a pump of binance token. The founder of Binance says that there are a huge number of projects that are ready to do ICO with the help of a launchpad on the Binance blockchain and they will be given a priority. And now all start-ups will seek the opportunity to be placed there, but before they come there in addition to the BitTorent Binance DEX need to place Netscape Navigator, Qip, WinRAR, Skype, as there are a large number of companies that are dying without a token. (smile goes here) So, they can be tokenized and brought back to life by placing them in the blockchain of Binance.

A kind of ecosystem is being developed in which the token of Binance is used. The more binance tokens are kept in the stack, in the node that verifies the transaction, are used as a bitcoin substitute tokens, which are traded at the IDEX and as an investment in ICO the bigger reduction in circulation and reduction in supply are caused. And when some projects need to buy bnb tokens and pay 100,000 dollars for the listing at Binance DEX, they will come to the market, but no one will sell bnb tokens to them. Such cases will cause an increase in prices of bnb tokens. So the truth is that CZ has created a good market condition for increasing of the bnb token price, but the Binance DEX is not decentralized cryptocurrency exchange as it is. But as the mass do not use DEXes, Binance gave us a hybrid of a private blockchain in order to trade and make an imitation of DEX.

One more interesting fact is that Binance declares that you can immediately trade from your hard wallet at DEX. You connect it in 2fa, synchronized it in blockchain and your keys remain with you and the exchange cannot do anything with them. However, the keys are stored in the private blockchain of Binance. But the truth is that it is an enterprise blockchain solution in order to pump bnb token.

The more transaction in the blockchain, the less security. There will be a lot of transactions in the Binance DEX and thus the question arises if there is any problem with the Binance services, whether the Binance will be held the responsibility. Perhaps this is the first step of decentralization. But for now, this is a very successful, very good, excellent marketing campaign, which pretends to be not what it is.

Binance will do it. Sometime ago when they announced their coin info portal. Back at that time it was only logo and some information about the coin. Now they have price charts.
Take a look yourself https://info.binance.com/en/currencies/ethereum

They have progress. So they will with DEX and launchpad.

Re: Impact of ICO Regulations and Investors
by
tokenrecord
on 26/04/2018, 07:42:52 UTC
Now a day most of the countries going be regulate the cryptocurrency ICO. I think regulation is good thing several ways and some bads.
Regulation can protect all the investors from the scam people because of anyone can make ICO. A bad thing is also some anonymous investors don't really like to invest regulated ICO.

The market will devide into two parts in any case. Governments will try to regulate the industry but each project makes the choice to do KYC and follow regulations or not. I think that community right now has more control over what is going in the industry and having a solid position will allow to protect non-KYC ICO by contributing.

However we need to understand that anonymity is not as anonymous as most think it is. Your IP+blockchain address not hard to record and then identify you.

We also need to understand that some projects need regulation to increase liquidity of their tokens because their target audience is more institutional investors rather than community. Filtering scam is another important thing of course.

Both ways of doing ICOs will stay.

Maybe I did not make myself clear on what we are trying to implement here.

Let`s review an example. Looking at Pantos website I found out that there are not links to LinkedIn profiles of team members. However it is not hard to find them by first and last name on LinkedIn.
Paul Klanschek https://www.linkedin.com/in/paul-klanschek-a1808134/
Eric Demuth https://www.linkedin.com/in/eric-demuth-9ba02943/
I do not see any mentioning of Pantos at all. Weird, is not it. The whole BitPanda team is behind the Pantos project and no mentions on linkedin. Possible LinkedIn account theft.

Let`s go on review this situation deeper.

Two CEOs is another thing that made me suspicious.
So I look at the company page on LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/company/18164565/.
Click on the website https://www.bitpanda.com/ and see on the homepage a link to an article about Pantos.
https://tokensrecord.com/images/redflag/112/zxAdeS7d.png

At least this issue is resolved. So I added a green flag https://tokensrecord.com/greenflags/Pantos-Pantos-mentioned-on-BitPanda-website-1904 so others like you can recheck if I am right or wrong stating that BitPanda team is working on Pantos and discuss this issue (if it is an issue at all).

You may say. Cmon it is simple. It took you probably 2-3 minutes to figure that out. Yes. But it is not the most complicated situations. Projects like to mention people behind them just because they talked and received smth like: "Yeah, a great project to do." I always say that when I do not want to harm relationships or get into discussion with a startuper that is to emotional about his/her idea.

What if you have to recheck 5-10 members of the team to make sure that they are what they say they are. Or are they even part of the team or not?

Only one aspect of the problem connected to project.

To find a solution for due diligence procedure we are trying to structure at least part of it that can be put in a set of strict rules and combinations to simplify life for others. If there are community members who want to join us at this work feel free to add your facts or Red Flags about projects.

Hundreds of ICO reviews means you had to do 1 every day. Proper due diligence is a full time job, I doubt you can push them all out with quality with 1 daily. And why do so many reviews? Why not select a few based on initial criteria and then do proper reviews? Isn't basic screening part of due diligence, after all?

Edit: I just looked myself and these are not really reviews. Just a checklist, which is only one of many tools in due diligence. And you also have sponsored reviews. That's a conflict of interest. You can't have sponsored content and rate ICOs without bias.

Thank you for your input.

We do not have sponsored reviews.

We are doing initial check of the project status. It is hard to do complete due diligence for all projects because it is time consuming.
What we are doing is a setting up a tool to add facts and validate them. Those facts affect the due diligence "checklist".

We are looking for those interested in joining us and work on covering more projects and share this information with the community. We are preatty sure that there are players interested in this information. Early stage due diligence for some projects is a closed information. For instance, Red Flags are not always public on the platform because we are rechecking them before making it public.

You can show how to do DD, what are the main points?

Sure. We use only public available information. If we do not find it and the team does not provide it we assume there is none.

Key points: ICO review procedure

Results are here https://tokensrecord.com/ico-due-diligence

A simplified scheme described below:

Smiley Team: who are team members, are their social profiles available. - review linked in profiles if there are any (we usually skip those without public linkedin profiles).

Cry MVP: do they have an MVP available to test. - it is there or it is not there. The next step is to see how it works and does it work at all. If any code available we try to compile it.

Cool Company: is there a registered company already for selected project? - we use several website to check if the company is registered
      U.K. registration: https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/
      Global https://portal.kyckr.com/

Development: how recent are development updates uploaded? is there an open github repository? - we do basic code review and latest commits to understand is there any ongoing development or the team just adds comments to increase number of commits per day.

Angry Vesting: what is the vesting period for team/advisors tokens? - whitepaper, token sale section should contain that information. Good thing if smart contract contains vesting logic too.

SmartContract: is there a smart contract available and was it audited by experienced team? - We look at github and review smart contract.

Experience: is cumulative experience of team and advisors enough to complete the project? - compare goals of the project to previous team member positions and possibility of completing the project. We undrestand of course that you can always hire several members after the ICO but key positions should be there and it should not be one man army.

Advisors: do advisors prove they support project? - Do advisers have relative experience necessary for the team to achive goals? We alos have a database of advisors that are joining almost any project that pays with tokens and do not provide any value for the project. But this is our opinion so we do not share it at this moment not to abuse anybody. We do not add it as redflags either. At least for now.

Angry Expenses: does expense plan correlate with road map of the project? - This part is the most questionable because if project is planning to work in US they can not call their investors investors (only contributors) and they do not have to share where they will spend money. But in other cases at least general idea of how money will be spent should be there. One of the redflags is when more than several percents will go towards early investors and

TokenDistribution: are there any risks for investors in token distribution of selected project? - Key things we look here for the team to have motivation to improve project after ICO and not have ability to manipulate price afterwards.

Angry TechDetails: are there enough technical details to understand project? - This part depends on the project. If it is a solely tech project it is good to have understanding how deep team understands tech aspects. For other industry projects we are not so strict because business development is way more important there.

Investor Protection: how protected are investors money after contributing into project? - There should be clear mechanism of investor money protection like escrow or at other ways mentioned in the whitepaper or token sale details document.

Each project should be reviewed individually and getting all green checkmarks does not mean that you should definetly invest into it. Due Diligence process does not include comparing to competitors, market research and doing any forecasts on project possible success or failure. This is represented by Interest Level. Not a financial advise. Right now only few projects are considered intereseting and even them are mostly for flipping.

Things described above is around 20-30 % of the work that should be done. It is a way better idea to have all things being rechecked by the community. That is why we have Red  Flags(not to invest) and Green  Flags (sort of proved facts about project) which can be rechecked by others. Our idea is that collaborative work can bring this process to a higher level.

TokensRecord - Decentralized ICO Due Diligence Platform
by
tokenrecord
on 13/04/2018, 21:15:41 UTC
Decentralized Due Diligence Platform was our goal for many weeks already. Our team was looking for a solution for a system that can help crypto community identify good projects from scam in a collaborative way.

Right now what we got are four key parts that we consider a way of organizing community work so other can join us:

1. The Red Flags. We had started a topic about that some time ago https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2916380.msg30005678#msg30005678. There are a lot of things that had change in our vision since then. However we strongly believe that identifying ICO Red Flags should be one of the main things to do while analysing an ICO. That can help unexperienced investors from sending money to scammers.

2. ICO Due Diligence procedure that allows us to check key aspects about team, company, project idea, product or MVP, ongoing development, token distribution, investor protection.
That part of our platform is new. You can find it here https://tokensrecord.com/ico-due-diligence We are doing it on an ongoing basis. Your input will be appreciated.

3. Team member search. That is recent tool we had introduced a couple weeks ago. https://tokensrecord.com/membersearch At some point of time we had figured out that there are team members and especially advisers that are in too many projects at once. That is one of the red flag types we do not like to publish yet.

4. The last but not the least thing is Event Page. We had initially created that section of the platform to support our Trading Community and provide a social monitoring tool. You can find the initial topic here. But then we figured out that project do not really care about post-ICO community work. And the community has to literally collect all the information to keep track of the project and share rumors and important announcements about upcoming events. So for our post-ICO project tracking we have Events Section. Feel free to contribute any project related information there. You can share you BTC and ETH wallets alone with twitter account to get rewareded for the work you do.

Right now we are seeking for community feedback and support. TokensRecord is taking a lot of our resources and we need to know that things we are doing are important for the community we are all in.
We will be glad for any feedback and ideas for TokensRecord.com to improve.

Join us in the telegram chat https://t.me/tokensrecord
There are not so many people there yet. Our private chat is in slack since most of the core team members are developers and we are used to slack more than to telegram. However since crypto community is mostly in telegram we decided to make an open discussion chat there too.

We decided to change format of ICO investigation process. We now have due diligence page for active/upcoming ICOs. You can find it here https://tokensrecord.com/ico-due-diligence.

In the first full week after the New Year holiday, pent-up supply is releasing a flood of ICOs, relative to the past three weeks, albeit with tempered expectations. Among the sales and presales set to open this week, there remain some truly crazy hard caps: 65 million USD for “Knowledge,” a kind of Quora-meets-influencer-marketing, for example
My picks aren’t investment advice; you should consult an adviser and do your own research before making a decision

That happened because a lot of ICOs raised a bunch of money during bitcoin rush to 20K. A lot of new investors joined our world during last 2 months.

Thanks, man. This TokensRecord site is very useful. It cuts down research time when one is searching for investment opportunities. Glad you thought of making it.

Thanks. You should check out our latest release of member search where you can search members and advisors to be part in multiple projects.

Excellent thread. I would say that some of the red flags are more like "yellow" or "orange" flags if you know what I mean. A red flag IMO is something that is a deal breaker. Just to mention some red bright red flags:

- Team´s Linkedin profiles with no contacts or with contacts that once you dig a little bit, don´t look real.
- Lately, as seen on Dencity, some of the advisers deny involvement in the project, yet they are listed.
- There are obvious technical flaws that make the project impossible or very difficult. Not just barriers to overcome, but things that are really impossible. For example, if a network is frequently overloaded, it is unlikely that you will be able to make instant payments with low fees.
- Unrealistic market caps, no soft or hard cap.

I think my point is clear. There are Bright Reds and things that need to be addressed.

Thanks. Severity low and medium can be considered as yellow flags that can be usually managed and solved by the team.
