Miner Configuration Tab. "Customize the fan speed percentage."

Not on a S9.

I am looking at it on an S9.  Miner Configuration Tab, Under the General Settings sub tab, at the bottom.  It's on all of my S9's, regardless of batch & firmware version.

You must have all s9v1. There are no other tabs under gereral settings. All my firmware is of April of this year though. Let me know if it has changed in newer fw.

Nice hack!!

Much easier than changing the /config/bmminer.conf  over ssh  Grin

Is there also a way to control the fanspeed manually??

I don't think you can change the fan speed. Although I will be looking into this soon since I am going to try immersion  cooling. Fingers crossed. Grin

Edit: meant to type immersion instead of submerged  Cool

can anyone advise here or on PM
my latest S9 just lost a board in other words it was working fine for about 24 hours then i made a psu change and it just stoped hashing. two interesting details, one, the miner detects the board but no its not hashing at all GH/S(RT) shows 0000, two, if i connect that particular board by itself it does hash, but only by itself.

any input or advice will be greatly apreciated

i tried diferent psu
and i tried changing resetting all settings
same result
Which brand of psu's are you using?
\

i tried both bitmain psu and HP

I have been using the same LEPA PSUs for 2 years, first on AntMiner S7's then on S9's without any PSU problems at all.  I've had S9 hashboards fry, but not from the power supplies.  The hasboards that fried were always in the one S9 that I have which is Batch 1.  I am fairly certain that it is an overheating problem.  I have two hasboards out of it now, sent off to Bitmain Warranty in Colorado for repair.  When they come back, I am going to underclock that S9 to 600 rather than the default 650 and hope that fixes the problem.  In case anyone is interested in the model of PSU I use, they are LEPA G Series G1600-MA 1600W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Power Supply.  I can't speak for all of them, but my anecdotal testimonial evidence is that I have had 3 of them running for 2 years solid, without a minute of downtime other than a couple brief power outages to my house for a couple hours or when I manually shut them down to remove the hashboards to send in for repair.  The PSUs themselves have never had any problem, even when running the S7s, which used more wattage than the S9s.  When I had the S7's I would have at least 2 industrial surge protectors burn out completely, frying the circuit breaker to toast, per month.  That was sheer agony.  I couldn't find a surge protector that was S7-proof.  I have never had one fry with my S9s.

my S9 are auto
how can i underclock it?

Log into your miner. Click on Miner Configuration. Go up into the ip address. Delete the word "Configuration". Type the word "Advanced" with the capital "A". Hit enter. Choose the frequency you want.

Bitmain does not accept BTC for miner payment, only USD and LTC. I wonder whether they think BTC is too high though it's interesting .

When I go to Bitmain, the prices are in US$, BTC and LTC.
If you try to purchase a psu and checkout. It only gives you usd wire or litecoin. In the past they have stopped accepting bitcoin when there was large swings in price.

I tried to send 0.067 BTC from BTC.com and the fee is 0.011? I didn't expect the fee is 15+%. Is it right?
Well btc.com is part of the company that charges the highest mining fees of all the pools, so I'd not be surprised if they do other things in the worst possible way ...
Actually the fee's do not go to BTC.com. 100 percent of the transaction fee's go to the miners. There are three different selections of fee's to choose from. Optimal, low priority, and accelerated priority. Optimal is the most expensive. Low priority is the cheapest.  And the accelerated priority is they include your transaction into free mining payouts when they find a block.
Xuy, if you want cheaper transactions. Use low priority.

Just got notification that my two new avalon miners should arrive Monday. But my hosting place just informed me that they are full. Does anyone know of any reliable hosting with available space, preferably here in the US. PM me so as to not tie up the thread.

https://www.advania.com/datacenter/

Not in the US. Iceland must have nice cooling ...
I've been in touch with them recently and they only do 30KW or above, which means at least ~20 or so S9's.
Have you tried Oregon mines? https://www.oregonmines.com

I can understand some people want to be hobby miners. Let me just say there is nothing wrong with that. But. These machines eat up a lot of electricity.  At least use a miner that can turn a profit. If all he can mine with is a underpowered s7. It may be time to call it quits on the mining business. Who knows. Maybe he lives in a cold place and is trying to contribute to global warming.

If you can find a pool to support the ASICBoost, you can make good profits.

This is not what I;ve asked and please stop increasing your post count on my thread.
This was supposed to be informative not shit posting.

Net profits for an s9 per day are right around $4.00 usd. Of course depending on your cost of electricity and or hosting fee's.

Again nothing I've asked about. Thank you for 0 information.

I don't think past mining profitability information will be much too useful in present day as there are too many people mining now with very extreme amount of GH/s.

Oh really?
How about you throw away your crystal ball that tells you what information is useful for me?

To all the people posting useless crap here , I will report your messages if you continue posting this way.

Again, thank you QuintLeo and mrb,
I will ask the topic to be locked if no other USEFUL info will be posted.

I gave you current profits for the s9 so you can compare them to anything else in the past.
So kindly. And in the most polite way. Go fuck yourself.

Why would a miner who is not bitmain use ASICBOOST on antpool? I don't think it produces more shares, so anypool would pay out the same as if it was not being used, and additional investment would have to be made on the part of the miner.

Because you need a stratum server that supports ASICBOOST for it to work. Currently only antpool does, but there is rumours slush may add support for it. It doesn't pay out more shares but reduces power consumption.

I'm not saying bitmain is mining on antpool. I have no idea if they are nor have I any idea if they use ASICBoost for their farms. I'm saying normal joe bloggs has figured out how to turn on asicboost and is using it on antpool.

i'm confused... before i heard there is no pool that allows it... then someone else mentioned that : that would be overt mining, and this is covert asicboost... so does overt vs covert require the pool configuration??  You sound like youre somewhat knowledgeable, ... i still think its all a huge distraction from scaling and bigger blocks, but its interesting, so give us the gangster deets.

https://blog.bitmain.com/en/regarding-recent-allegations-smear-campaigns/

Bitmain admits they have used it on a test network but not for actual mining.    The only issue I see around asicboost is Bitmain holds a patent on it, at least in China.   Other than that, I all for whatever can be done to reduce the amount of work necessary to find a block.   However I'm in the process of writing my third miner and I may decide to build a hardware implementation of it.   These though are for my own use as I really dislike supporting software, that is what I do for a living I don't need to do it for my own personal business.   Tongue

What a lot of people seem not relies is. Just because something is tested. And just because something is patented. Doesn't mean it will ever work.

It's an interesting idea.  But we can't even get people to agree on a 2mb block. Imagine the fight to change block time and payout.
Yeah I posted a few 'useful' ideas many years ago - but they were all rejected Tongue
Faster block time, increased nonce size, multiple PoW
I also discussed with Gavin back then about not repeating transaction processing, and only transferring the necessary transactions (since typically your mempool would have most of them)

In general I steered clear of 'Core' other than making suggestions Smiley
I did my own thing there.
Yeah I think one of the only problems with the bitcoin white paper was not allowing a certain amout of btc to go to core programmers per block. That way they could earn a living and stay netruel. The ulterior motives behind both sides is sickening.

My understanding is that it reduces power consumption on a per block basis, not a per share basis. So any miner doing this would just find more blocks for antpool. A miner that was contributing 10% of antpool' hashrate that was using ASICBOOST would get a net gain of 2% of revenue and the remaining 18% would be split among the remaining 90% of miners on antpool.
And yet when you compare pools. Like i did. Antpool is not finding more blocks per hash.

The only real smoking gun is empty blocks.

No it's not. Empty blocks can mean headfirst mining. It's since been discovered ASICBoost can be done without empty blocks or reordering transactions (though it can be done that way too) by malleating a transaction that pays themselves. This is fully undetectable on the blockchain. The only indication is that blocks will contain txes that were never broadcast on the network prior to the block being found, which antpool does.

The smoking gun is that the firmware that was extracted contains ASICBoost hooks:
http://diyhpl.us/~bryan/irc/bitcoin/bitmain-firmware/

That the stratum server contains code to support ASICBoost and the post above shows how to prove that. Open cmd, telnet into antpools stratum server and check yourself.

And that people ARE using it right now. They're not wild accusations, I mean there are step-by-step tutorials explaining how to enable it and how to check antpools server supports it. Buy an antminer and turn it on yourself.

We don't have proof if BITMAIN used it, but we know for sure miners on antpool are using it right now this second.

They are trying to say it is bitmain mining on antpool. What they don't understand is that there is far more money selling miners than mining with them.

People are not using asicboost on antpool. You have fallen into the propaganda trap laid out by core.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/63yo27/some_circumstantial_evidence_supporting_the_claim/dfy5o65/

You can test that antpool supports ASICBoost yourself without an antminer by reading that post and following the instructions.

I really wish people that throw accusations around would do the math themselves to find out the truth. Before they start spreading false information around.
The only real smoking gun is empty blocks. Now core sheep often say antpool mines a lot of empty blocks. But they never provide any data on the subject.
Antpool mines around 18% of all empty blocks. Which is right in line seeing how over the past year they have had 18% of the network hash rate. Which also means they mined 18% of all total blocks.
Here is some numbers comparing three different pools controlled by three different entitys.  Taken from 4/06/16 to 4/06/17.

All you have to do is compare each pool found block to hash rate. For example I will show you stats for three pools. One of the pools is Bitfury. It is really hard for me to think that a company that received 90 million from investors is using Bitmain miners. So they shouldn't have any asicboost tech.

Antpool. 18.71% of network. 10,224 blocks found.

Bitfury. 9.00% of network.  4,919 blocks found.

Kano ck pool. 1.89% of network. 1035 blocks found.

As you can see Antpool is 9.89 times bigger than Kano ck pool. Kano pool found 1035 blocks.  9.89x 1035= 10,236. Which is less of a 1% difference when compared to Antpool 10,224.

Now let's check Kano to Bitfury.
Bitfury is 4.76 times bigger than Kano.  4.76x1035=4,926. Pretty close to Bitfury's 4919.

Now let's check Bitfury to Antpool.
Antpool is 2.07 times bigger than Bitfury.  2.07x4919=10,182. which is less than a 1% difference. Close enough.
Antpool performs within 1% of other pools.
This is an obvious attempt of core trying to confuse non miners. So people will continue to voice out against anything but segwit.
