Transaction has been pending for weeks without going through
by

Hi everyone,

Several weeks ago I sent some BTC from my Multibit wallet to my Coinbase wallet -- however the transaction has just been pending for weeks, without showing up in my Coinbase wallet. When I put my cursor over the transaction in the transactions list it just says "This transaction is not yet confirmed. Seen by 1 peer."

It's gone from my Multibit wallet, so does anyone know why this would've happened and where my BTC is? Is it just lost forever?

Thanks!

I wonder why the legitimate transaction I made yesterday isn't being confirmed either  Embarrassed

always the same question : how many fee include ?

Multibit said the fee was $0.01, I think.

Yet 100 threads in, you aren't aware that these transactions will never be confirmed and so there will never be free money.

Yesterday I got sent 0.00000001 four times all at once, and since then all of those transactions have been seen by only one peer and are not confirmed. I also sent some coins myself to another wallet and they haven't been confirmed either  Huh

Has this happened to anyone else, and could the reason why none of my transactions are being confirmed be because someone is sending out tons of those tiny transactions to everyone and clogging up the system?

Re: How are under 18's using Bitcoin?
by

I keep seeing people claiming to be well under 18 and claiming they have made a decent amount of Bitcoin yet how can they? They can't purchase from any excahnge because you need to be 18 in order to sign a legal contract and buy from any exchange.

So they are lying unless they sell services but they have no experince in most things sorry for the rant but its annoying when people claim to be young and have enough experince to make well over 50 Bitcoin in such a short period of time without buying from a exchange.

I'm 17, I just arrange wire transfers with people via localbitcoins  Smiley

bitcoin like all crypto is a fad and will be gone soon enough if there is no protections that USD offers. no one will ever accept a currency that someone can steal and nothing you can do about it.

When the government steals your savings via Quantitative Easing you can do nothing about it  Wink

Re: Could bitcoins ever replace conventional money?

No not possible, but hopefully it can be a permanent alternative. People need a physical currency that they can hold in their hand and spend. No matter how easy it becomes to use, there will still be old school people using matress money

I'm sure people said that about credit cards too, but they're much more commonly used than cash these days -- people will get over it with time  Smiley

If it wasn't for evil governments regulating everything to death, then there would be dozens of exchanges all over the world, if not hundreds, simply exchanging fiat currencies for crypto currencies with no questions asked. The way it should be.

You could probably walk into a bank, a post office or various types of businesses and shops, and freely exchange your cash for other bearer instruments like gold, foreign exchange or BTC.

No. If it wasn't for the evil governments, there would be dozens of exchanges all over the world, you could walk into one of them and never see your money ever again..

Yes, and those exchanges that rip people off would be very quickly recognized by the Bitcoin community and no-one would do business with them. If there were many exchanges then they'd have a incentive to build a good reputation, otherwise everyone would ditch them and go to the competition. The dodgy exchanges would go out of business pretty quickly, while those with excellent customer service and a squeaky-clean track record would become very very rich. That's how the free market regulates itself.

You're one of those people that get it, but will argue to the point of stupidity to keep from admitting it.

If Nike shoes were illegal to purchase, then yes I would say hunt the "shoe buyers" down. But it isn't illegal.

As far as the dope smokers, if it is legal, like in Colorado, then no.
But in let's say Texas, yes then society and the rule of law is violated.
perfect example of no matter how you disagree with the law, it is still the law.

Anyway let's get back to Shrem.
He is in no way a "political prisoner", he is a scum bag that caught and his victims are the customers and others who worked hard to make Bitinstant what it was. He will fry because when the US Federal Government nails you, you're nailed.

So you'd support hunting them down just because the government says it's illegal?  No other reason needed?

I take it you've never heard of LocalBitcoins?

I have, but doesn't it require that you meet up in person?  If so, it's like comparing eBay to Craigs List.

You *can* meet up in person, but most people do wire transfers, cash deposits, PayPal, Western Union etc...

As much as techology is a blessing, it's also a bitch.

Just like the news media. Everyone wants to be first to break a story, so rather than gain credible information, they just blindly throwing it up as fact, and as soon as that happens, it's all over twitter, facebook, whatever. And people, rather than thinking for themselves and verifying information, believe that because a website posted it, it HAS to be true so they turn around and keep spreading mis-information.

As great as there is no centralization or "rule book", it also sucks because one small baseless rumor can spread like wildfire and panic ensues.

Was kinda hoping Asia would have woken up this morning and seen the results of the fire sales and started buying up quickly. But who knows. Probably half of the people over there woke up, saw the huge dip and immediately went and started selling as well.

Oh the vicious cycle.

Either way, glad I was able to scoop up a few other ALT coins at a low price today to add to my portfolio. Maybe now these wannabe get-rich-quick folks will stay out of the damn game and let the true believers take back control.

In my opinion it's a good thing that a small baseless rumor can cause panic amongst all the uninformed people for a short while... gives us the chance to buy up some cheap bitcoins. I'll wait maybe another day or two to make sure the price doesn't drop anymore, then I'll pick up some coins for a 20-30% discount. Since the rumor probably won't follow through, the price will hopefully climb back up to 1000USD before long  Grin

My "Activity" ranking is jammed at 14

My "Activity" ranking has been jammed at 14 for 2-3 days, and no longer rises with post count or anything... Now I wouldn't really care, except you've got to rise to the rank of "member" to get that annoying-as-hell 360 second limit between posts lifted.  So does anyone know why this could be? Does my account have to be of a certain age to get past 14 or something?

put your money in Litecoin.  it's teh future.  with 4 times as many coins and 2x the transaction speed.  it's a no-brainer!

Litecoin's taking a fall along with Bitcoin though... went from 30USD to 24 the past couple of days. Might be best to wait for it to stabilize before buying in.

Going to be a hectic day if I keep looking at the ticker Tongue. I bought in at 1073, hit around  1140 then pop. I am not one to panic sell, but I can't afford to keep losing. Anyone think it will get back to up at least 8-900 this week?

It will surely go up again, eventually... I'm definitely going to hang onto mine!
