Re: Litecoin Friday 2013/2014
by

Why Nov 22?
How about Litecoins or coblees birthday?

Nov 22nd isn't ideal, but there are only a few dates to choose from a Friday in November to keep with the theme of Black Friday. Nov 15th is too early and Nov 29th is Bitcoin Friday. Does Litecoin Friday need to be in November? No, but Black Friday type events are known to be held in November.

I don't like Nov. 22nd either.

It is too soon, something like this would need some planning and time to get an ample amount of merchants to participate.

Okay now I agree November 2013 is too early. It will take a while just to get people to agree on a date. If we want it held in November it will have to wait until November 2014.

Bitcoin has chosen Nov 29th for their Bitcoin Friday. If any merchants are interested in participating in a Litecoin Friday for Nov 22nd, post your interest here.

I think it would be a great idea and I vote for either Nov 22 or Nov 29, 2013. For reference, see Bitcoin Friday from 2012. I've also posted this at /r/TrueLitecoin.

You should read the README and SCRYPT-README files provided with cgminer.

I see "-d 0" in both scripts. Why do you have both scripts pointing to device 0?

Get things working in the simplest configuration before adding extra flags such as powertune and memory settings. Run without the thread concurrency and use --shaders specified from SCRYPT-README to get a starting point for your thread concurrency

Try some of the settings from http://litecoin.info/Mining_Hardware_Comparison

For mining Bitcoins I would recommend ASIC hardware. You return for investment will be a minimum of one year and will take longer as the difficulty increases.

What about going with a Avalon chipset? What I have been reading is that ASIC would take much longer. I was debating getting a BFL, but haven't read many good things about them on the forum.

If you're getting the Avalon chipset you'll also need to build or purchase a board to go with it. Not recommended unless you know what you are doing.

I think the best option is to use your own wallet

But it needs to download the whole chain ...

Use an offline wallet then.

When I see premine, I immediately think scamcoin.
So, you think BTC and LTC are scamcoins?

Maybe I should say when I see a large premine, my initial thoughts are it is a scamcoin.
A large premine is an indicator of a scam coin, but doesn't automatically make it one.

"Litecoin had two blocks premined, one more than the minimum single genesis block needed to start a block chain."
Source: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Litecoin#.28Slight.29_Premining

If the statement above is true, then all coins would need to be premined.

Im a big litecoin fan but your argument is the guys trading in the other alts dont know what they are doing is just wrong. They are making more money mining other coins. Its a free market litecoin has its own forum heck altcoins have their own forum lets support those options. The Mods have already answered this question a million times.

Try these:

I think Id rather have the coin funded when I make a purchase, rather than wait and hope again it gets funded, after waiting eagerly to see if I get the coins in the first place.

If the coin is pre-funded and somehow gets lost in the mail, there is a risk that someone else now has access to the private key. A replacement would require shipping a new coin and funding an additional wallet address.

Are you aware of a user named toork that forked your code and recently ended up stealing a lot of LTC?

I know you are not responsible for what someone does with your code but it sucks that someone could cause harm with code you originally created.

Hello Everyone,

I'm /r/truelitecoin and welcome to a mini "I'm a subreddit AMA".

Question #1: How old are you? I'm only a few days old and am still learning how to walk

Question #2: How is crypto made? Crypto is made with the help of magical unicorns

Question #3: Why should I visit your subreddit? For open discussion and free cake!

p.s. The cake is a lie.

Why don't you accept LTC as a payment ? If you do i'll order a couple of Tshirts.

I do accept LTC, just not automated.  If there is an automated way of taking LTC, please let me know!

You could try using https://kojn-app.com which is a multi-currency payment processor. I think they support both Bitcoin and Litecoin. A beta invite may be required.
