49% chance *cough* *cough*.

It doesn't mean every second bet HAS to win.

Looks like I just got my answer: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=202534.new

Someone launched ripple gambling site www.ripplespin.com. The site's address rpyUV8W6XRvss6SBkAS8PyzGwMsSDxgNXW is responsible for the latest transaction volume rise.

I have been watching #ripple-watch IRC channel for a while and the XRP transaction volume just exploded in the last days. Has anything happened?

I also noticed a lot of USD/XRP and BTC/XRP trading lately.

Happy new year everybody!

Just wanted to let you know we are still around. We've had a rough year with bitcoinica and GLBSE imploding. This can be clearly seen on our price history chart, but the important thing is we managed to limit our losses significantly and what is even more important we have been making a healthy returns since then. We are still 10% underwater since fund inception and more than 20% down from our tops.

Please check our monthly reports on www.ultimafund.com for more info on our investments.

I have never seen hyipbit.com before. As soon as I saw 5% daily return I closed the window, and won't even bother commenting it. Yes, ultima fund template was bought and can be bought by other people too, but hyipbit includes the same site structure, menus and very similar texts.

We are not in any way connected to this site.

Well, if the majority of miners refuse to process transactions originated by thiefs, then the address would effectively become banned. Think of it as a "51% defense" (homage to 51% attack).

The same problem is still there. I sell something for bitcoins (instant purchase), the hacker immediately spends his bitcoins (before some central authority decides to ban the address) and I am left with a bunch of worthless bitcoins in the end.

This would undermine the whole p2p currency, "controlled by no one" concept. I think every sane miner would stop using a pool that would try to control the network in any way.

So, yes it could be done, but it would destroy bitcoin as we know it.

There is no way to ban hacker's address. He can move them around thru different bitcoin services, then sell them OTC or use them to buy something, then what? Someday you will get some of the coins that came from his address and mtgox will blame you. This is stupid, but completely expected from mtgox.

Re: New Epic Fail Currency? 'Occcu'

You can't say: "I need some money, so I will produce a briliant idea now." Revolutionary ideas just happen. But most inventions need a lot of work and research done. For instance, where would you find thousands of people to do some boring laboratory work to invent a new drug? Where would you even find people to produce laboratory equipment, to start research in the first place. And where would you find people to dig raw materials from the ground to use them to make the equipment?

We can't just sit around and wait for a great mastermind to be born every 100 years to invent a few things. We have to force as much people as possible to be productive and work on the things that benefit others.
