Re: US Dollar hyperinflation
by

As most of know the us dollar has lost spending power ever since the Federal Reserve (A group of private banks) took over printing the dollar. With QE unlimited and no gold standard seems it will only get worse. Could the national debt have something to do with it?

Agentina is dealing with similar issues right now with their peso.

It happened right before WW2 in Germany with the Weimar Republic and then 2008 with Zimbabwe.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyperinflation_in_Zimbabwe

Whats stopping history from repeating itself by having another hyperinflation incident but this time with the US Dollar?

We will see some hyperinflation in the next two decades.

Politicians who are responsible for it will be long gone by then.

The Chinese have said that if the US doesn't reduce its debt it will start offloading its US Treasuries/bonds - and when their export markets have expanded and domestic demand has grown they might well be in a position to do just that. Even the odd threat of it causes the dollar to plunge.
Quite frankly, the US debt market is exactly what allows Chinese to keep yuan undervalued by buying dollars.

As long as China wants to be an exporting country, they will have to amass dollars (or any currency of their trading partners), either directly (via CB) or indirectly (via outward private investment).

Economic adjustment doesn't happen overnight. By the time Chinese reorient their economy the dollar exchange rate would have already adjusted.

China is already in the situation where it doesn't need to export that much or close to the situation where it can dump the Dollar.
I highly doubt that. The Chinese trade surplus this year is at record levels. There's a debt bubble in the economy. What China does is "export its way" out of a possible crisis.
Also I don't see any sense in "dumping" dollar. It's much better used to invest in overseas expansion.

At one point, the rest of the world will realize consuming and enjoying their own labor are way better off than supporting a dieing currency.

here's why you're better off just buying BTC instead of investing into Bitcoin companies:

yes, this is for you Blockstream.

Too many frauds and unregulated securities.

Even successful one cut investors out of the profit.

Re: which exchange has the most liquid currently?

okcoin
huobi
BTCchina
bitfinex

they are exchange with top trading volume

Trading volume doesnt mean much. The Chinese exchange have 0 fees which makes the same coins being traded back and forth all day.

Don't think it matter if people trade back and forth. If the trading volume is true, that's mean the exchange can absorb a lot of bitcoin being dumped on it.

Corrupt Chinese politicians are moving a lot of money from China to western countries.
It's not a good phenomenon for becoming Super Power.

Corruption is omnipresent.
You would be kidding yourself if you think corruption is restricted to the developing world.  Smiley

Corruption in developing worlds is nothing compare to corruption in 3rd world.

The reasons many 3rd world will remain banana republic even if western world fall back.

Re: What does it mean when a "country intervenes in the currency market"?
by
unpure
on 09/10/2014, 08:11:41 UTC
Intervention always ends up hurting more than it helps... it fakes demand similar to QE and all other forms of manipulation... it will come back to bite. If it moved up too far or down too  far.. tough loss your decision to sign plaza accord creating a deflationary spiral for everyone else other than USD.
I think QE is worse then intervention. QE is determined to be long term manipulation and is very difficult and time consuming to unwind. The effects of QE will also not be immediately known.

Intervention on the other hand takes effect immediately and can easily be reversed by intervening in the other direction (or can simply cease intervening)
true... just a form of intervention obviuosly qe is worse or else us would have just done a normal intervention and used profits if any to bail ppl out etc but they needed money right away so.
Currency intervention only works when other countries are not intervening to make their currency weak as well. If that were to happen then the federal reserve would simply be selling euros to the ECB. QE will be necessary when many countries are attempting to intervene in credit markets, although it is much more complicated

Normally, this would mean country who devalue their own currency first benefit the most in the short term. But smart money will leave the country will leave the country who steal from businesses who hold capital.

If stock market collapse, bitcoin will collapse too. You know people would just keep USD..

Yes. Deflationary pressure is kicking in as the Fed is slowing down bond purchase.

Deflationary collapse can happen even in a high inflation environment.

time to load up some next to free bitcoins before the moron runs out of coins to sell.

Bitcoin price is subjected to cost of production. If some ASIC manufactures and mining farms can continue to pump out coin at cheaper price, then they are still profiting from selling at this price.
