Not entirely sure, but I would still power them even if you don't think you need to.

It's still worth it imo.
It's gonna be some time still before asics hit the market, and even when they do, they'll only be about twice as good hash per $ and not 10+ times like with sha-256.

At 3K TH mining bitcoins, you'll make it back in like 25-30 days, and that's if you had it right NOW.
You probably won't be getting yourself a Neptune until at least May... by that time the difficulty would probably have risen 16+ times.
So you probably won't ever make back what you put in - maybe if you mined some and resold you could make some profit... barely.

I think it's pushing it, I wouldn't. Especially since the 290 draws a lot of power.

BitSimple (https://BitSimple.com) but is must be a bank wire not ACH (Direct Deposit).

If you can send a bank wire you can have coins in a few hours from now.
Thanks, I'll be sure to check it out.

Edit: Fuuuu- not available in California. For peet's sake, California has nearly 40 million people. Oh well.

Re: WARNING: PAYPAL STARTED MASSIVE ACCOUNT BAN ON ANYTHING BITCOIN RELATED
by
vadoff
on 05/02/2014, 08:53:50 UTC
This is incorrect. The CEO of PayPal David Marcus has already denied these claims:

To clarify: we have no policies against using PayPal to sell Bitcoin mining rigs.
We don't support any currency txn whether fiat or BTC for a host of regulatory
issues. But we treat BTC and any FX txn the same way. We're believers in
    BTC though.

There was a communication error in January but it was retracted within hours: http://i.imgur.com/GMC0fsd.png

So at the very least mining rigs are okay to sell.

Mt.Gox has had shitty cash withdraws for many, many months. Hence why the price is always higher on that exchange than any other.

Any good exchanges that can do instant cash deposits?
by
vadoff
on 05/02/2014, 08:45:37 UTC
Right now I'm using Coinbase. Ever since they changed the instant deposit limit from 10BTC to 1BTC, it's been a drag buying BTC in a timely manner.

Are there any sites that let you transfer from a bank and you can get funds/BTC instantly?
I know local BTC is one option but I'm not sure how convenient that would be - seems like there's quite a bit of markup as well.

Re: Bitcoin Arbitrage
by
vadoff
on 26/01/2014, 23:34:17 UTC
Markets with higher prices almost always have a reason for it.
Low trade volume, large delays in cashing out (weeks to even over a month), caps on how much you can cash out per day/month, etc.
Some exchanges also impose fees on cashing out (1-2%).

With such large delays in between reinvestments, there's also a chance that bitcoins could go up or down 20%+.
Meaning a lot of missed chances at potential huge profits that you would've had otherwise.

As quoted, arbitrage is like picking up nickels in front of steamrollers. You can make some small profits, but there's a chance you'll be crushed.

Re: Wanting to buy up to $18500 BTC with paypal.
by

If a serious buyer comes along, I could give them a copy of my driver's license + phone #.
An maybe they could mail something to me so they could have something to fight me in case of chargeback.
Why people sell to you must mail something to you ? You are the person must mail something for them
In chargeback cases, usually if you have a tracking # that you've shipped a physical product to the buyer it's enough to fight the case.

Escrow is going to have to be like 45 days for paypal.

A claim could still be made after 45 days with PP.

OP, why not just use an exchange that accepts credit cards?
I'd prefer that actually, do you know of any? Can't seem to find any.

Try Coin.mx  Their fees are ridiculous but I've bought 1000s worth of coins.
Thanks a lot, I'll check it out. What's the fee like?

3.5% on your deposit. To withdraw they charge .001 BTC.  If you decide to use them, let me know... you'll get an extra $5 or some or something like that.
That's perfect, I think I'll go that route.

Thanks guys, closing this.
