The particular individual in question was caught red handed hiding affiliate URL's in his 'independent' reviews, and when caught, scoffed, that the expert who caught him, was no one since they had one post to their name. Effectively denying it to those in the clueless ness.

IE. Complainant is a sketchy non straight shooter to begin with.

Second miss-step this time with irrevocable repercussions. First was that failed attempt to sponsor the Russian character and his Havelock IPO where checks and balances were not in place.

The second and now catastrophic is this BCTS bullshit. Having dealt with them before at the top level, I can assure there exists a slimy rot, slick fast car salesman aspect to their operation. In other words, big hat no cattle.

They early on tested the waters in acquiring used Spondoolies - other machines, saturating these and other forums with marked shills and 'established' traders in used equipment's.  All under the pretense of buying your used equipment outright. At the end of the day the sales pitch would be after an agreed price was set and sales mechanism, to introduce the highfalutin "CEO" penny stock company man you dawdle and hum and hawed like he was some sort of mega business man, only to turn around at the end of the day to offer shares in his make believe company for the hardware you have. Not a penny to their name. Trade your hardware for their shit shares.

Guy is unfortunately and fortunately a straight shooter yet naïve. They are in going to be in a world of hurt getting wrapped up in this educated penny stock company. All goodwill, honesty and all straight shooting will go crooked. In fact I would bet money the silence you see right now is Spondoolies sitting around their conference table saying "is he a drayer or what"/:

Yes that is it. This is what I gleaned from that abortion

NA, soda glass ranks to 34-year-old lawmaker, guard of the warehouse. Revealed that before his accident, and friends. Guard, 2 people on call had come during the night, and then approx. They smell smoke it.

Whatever. Owner seems rather cavalier at this loss. Perhaps it beats a bullet in the head? Banging the Mayors Daughter perhaps? Wifey? After all it is not his money that is lost.

CLOUD MINING SUPREME !!1

too soon?

If you bothered to attempt the read the Thai news article Guy posted via Google or Bing speak, you will note a or the security guard caught or intercepting two people lurking around the place in the wee hours just before smoke was smelt.

Some one owe some one a packet of cigarettes perhaps? Late on a payment maybe?

I keep receiving e-mails from someone called Ori from S-T about the refund, asking me for my bank and address details.

I replied to these e-mails but my replies were ignored like they have not been read and I was responded with the same reply, keeping asking me about my bank details. Are these e-mails legit? What's this all about?

Yes, incredibly poor judgement on SP's part. Utterly shocking security protocols in place there, second time round now since Guy posted his complete details here several months ago.

You simply cannot have some flunky in the company requesting such sensitive data via plain text over email like that. Who actually runs the security dept. at Spondoolies anyway?

My suggestion is to not provide the requested information until they have proper mechanisms in place to receive it.

Just woefully slacking each and every time in the security sector.

Look for a 30AMP outlet. You will usually find this in the kitchen around the stove and various enclaves where you plug in toasters and microwaves. This is where you can run an SP30 via heaviest duty extension cord if you don't want it competing with the blender noise or coffee grinder noise:

15-amp Circuit
Total Wattage Capacity: 15 amps x 120 volts = 1,800 watts
Safe Wattage Capacity: 1,800 watts x 80% = 1,440 watts
Safe Amperage Capacity: 15 amps x 80% = 12 amps

20-amp Circuit

Total Wattage Capacity: 20 amps x 120 volts = 2,400 watts
Safe Wattage Capacity: 2,400 watts x 80% = 1,920 watts
Safe Amperage Capacity: 20 amps x 80% = 16 amps

30-amp Circuit

Total Wattage Capacity: 30 amps x 120 volts = 3,600 watts
Safe Wattage Capacity: 3,600 watts x 80% = 2,880 watts
Safe Amperage Capacity: 30 amps x 80% = 24 amps

Frightening how much whining is going on about such a trivial issue. Seemingly brilliant minds on the forefront of technology who sit there day and night with their abacuses calculating and re-calculating hash rates, power consumptions, dollar values over and over till their fingers bleed, now shrieking like little babies sitting in their prams having had their dummies fall out of their mouths out of reach.

So what's the big deal? This is how the farms start. If in order to keep the guaranteed power specification of these units they must lower the hash rate, all they need do is plug in a handful of these machines or the previous machines in their data center and apportion off the balance TH's owed to your specified address. However the math works for them such that the machine itself covers their running costs, the balance will be directed to you e.g. if the thing runs at guaranteed power specs. but with 5 TH/s only, they can plug in an SP10, direct 1 TH/s to your BTC address, keep .4 TH/s for themselves to pay for running it there.

Would that be the end of the world?

So I decided to join the fray and worry about cooling later. Just concluded some testing:

2 machines @ 24h net: 0.14743461 (before the increase) default single pool
2 machines @ 24h net: 0.12959452 (before/after increase) multi-pool

All calculators were spot on in their calculations. Ton of junk in the multi-pool amounting to not that much and spotty server issues.

So what pool(s) are recommended for these things?

Now this is some seriously good thinking. Did not cross my mind about a window ac which is way more efficient than portables.

http://woodbox.dparker.org/

Ramming 18 C cold air straight down SP10 throat  Cheesy

MSRP 109 $ probably find it on sale a lot less

http://www.lg.com/us/air-conditioners/lg-LW5012J-window-air-conditioner

500 watts
52 dB (which is emitted out the front end)

Find an even smaller unit. Less btu, less watt, lower dB, less price.

10 $ of scrap wood of if you hover around the lumber section of home depot, and ask nicely 0 $

Make the box as big as need for as many machines you have. Go so far as to insulate the interior with soundproofing foam for added measure.

Very interesting. Stick it on your balcony, patio, in your basement, in your garage and you're set.

Collider I see that, just discovered this whole new world of quiet cabinets for servers so rapidly checking each out. I think that one has its own built in cooling system (not just fans), there are appear to be quite a few makers of these cabinets different sizes, different heat tolerances etc. For those seems it is based on the fan they are using to extract the heat from the cabinet which course can always be swapped. Main thing based on all the demo videos they are all quite effective.

This one is small maybe good for 1 unit for the home, cheap enough at 650 dollars to get a good nights sleep and still keep on hashing.

http://www.xrackpro.com/XRackPro2-4U-Noise-Reduction-Enclosure-Cabinet-p/xr-nre2-4u-us.htm

Haven't looked yet buy I'd bet there are DYI plants out there to do this. Just a box with sound proofing materials and some fans.

Yes no one is bashing the product it is indeed the highest and best engineered product to date.

The objective here is to find a solution for the home user, which part of the fun and games of having such equipment's.

1. The difference between 30,000 fans @ 10$ vs.11.50$ is what? A savings of what.
2. The difference between 52.5 dB and 50 dB is what?

There are blade design differences bearing differences motor differences etc. There are 40mm fans ranging from 10 dB to 100 dB. Again if someone wants to bother and look at what fan and what specs. they currently are, they can then source their own "better" or "quieter" equivalent.

Someone from Spondoolies should be doing this saying that you can get away with x CFM at y voltage for the PSU and likewise for the machine itself. Quite frankly as you all sit here twiddling your thumbs, there are people in this very thread saying that they would like to buy it but won't because of the noise.

Anyway up to you.

^awesome  Grin

the inevitable which should be viewed as a feather in the cap for spondoolies has arrived.

hack spondoolies

while it might upset the original designer/owners it in reality is a crowning glory and should be embraced.

Yeah but the difference between 2 3 4 dB is astounding, there's a formula out there detailing it. To put it bluntly these fans are probably the cheapest available to do the job. For a few dollars more you might be able to replace them with ones that are quieter.

Trying to see what they are but no pics out there other than this.

the whole idea is the reduce the overall sound level where ever possible.  A few dB savings is remarkable on the sound level you hear.

Just looking at the below I would remove that grate obstructing the fans and see if that improves it. You got air whistling through that grate adding to the noise.

Last obvious observation.

Spec. the actually system fans. You have to think that in the design and build, consideration was not given to dB levels since it seems the purpose in mind from the outset was data center compatibility and cost effectiveness.  There are million and one fans out there. Spec. the 6 fans that are currently in the box and find a quieter alternative. Fans are dirt cheap.  Increase is minimal for quieter fans. 45-50 dB is the sound of an air conditioner. 58 dB is nuts.

 Cool

is that fan extracting the heat?

how about that stupid handle in the way is causing all the noise as the air whistles around it. someone what to unscrew it and see what it does?

Go a step even further  Smiley

Based on the below, the fan in the PSU is a Sanyo San Ace 36  Series and if I am not mistaken as I can barely make it out the 750mA which produces 58.5dBA.

There is a lowered powered, lesser CFM and quieter fan in the same series at 52dBA

All for a whopping $18.00!

Even looks like the screws on the PSU holding the fan in place meaning it should be a cinch to swap out.

Obviously the big question is, lower CFM how will it affect the PSU?? Maybe Spondoolies can test that. If they green light it everyone simply get one swap it out and be done.

The two PSU fans in question:
