Does anyone know why I can't access my KarmaShares PDF file?  I think I did it correctly (used the same address as my deposit) but I get an error message when I try to access the PDF file...  Any help?

Good job with the new wallet. Well done! About the shares, after 2 or 3 months when this company grow strong, many people will remember how they could make their lifetime income and missed it. Then I will offer them for selling a hard wall, so they can crash their heads into it.

Thanks. They can still participate by holding onto coins in their wallet, but they will not be able to get 10x the number of shares Smiley

How can holding coins in a wallet help the Karmashares LLC?

Help me understand it :-)

After May 11, when you will hold more than 5 000 000 KARM on your wallet more than 30 days, you will be able to receive share points, but without bonus. So for 1000 KARM, you will have one share point, for the minimum 5 000 000 KARM, you will have 5 000 share points.

also keep in mind. if you decide to move the coin out (sell them , give them away, etc.) you will loose the points. when you stop having those coins in your pocket you stop owning shares. this way there is no double point. each point will always be equal to 1000 Karma

I'm still confused about this whole thing.  Please help me understand why it's better to exchange KARM to share points now.  If I exchange 5 million KARM now, I can get 50,000 share points (10x what I can get later).  BUT.... if I don't exchange now and just keep the 5 million KARM in my wallet, I still get 5000 share points PLUS my KARM in my wallet.  I'm not "loosing" any KARM this way.  Isn't keeping KARM in the wallet safer play just in case this share points thing doesn't work out?

I can not tell you what is better for you. You need to make your own decision. Not to mention i would feel terrible if you made a bad decision on my own behalf.

Here is what i have to say to your questions:

Yes, that option is there for the ones that do not want to "invest" their Karmas. By keeping them you will get points out of the company(i think you will have to provide a dedicated address where you will keep those coins). But those points are "temporarily"  because the moment you decide to sell those Karmas then the points will be removed from being linked to your account and you will stop receiving dividends by the LLC. This will prevent having more points then Karma overall

So in other words. You do not own those shares %100 , but they are landed to you as in good faith that you keep the coins in your wallet. hypothetically Speaking, if the company shares are worth a lot more then Karma coins, then you will always see there worry not to move a single coin out of your wallet or you will loose all those shares. And , the opposite could happen just as well. The market will decide.

Truthfully , i believe almost everybody invested in the company because:  one, they believe in kosmost , and secondly they want the best for Karma.

Looking at numbers :  Right now 5M Karma are roughly $25. That is a very cheap investment for something that promises you a lot of work. Even if they fail. it would still be a $25 investment. If you are thinking, well what if in future Karma goes $2 a coin while the company shares are worth nothing? Then i think you should keep all those coins you have , and buy $25 worth of coins and invest those.

Gotta say though. at 49B coins out now and more to come.. this coin will not move in $$$ anytime soon if it stays in hands of trader and miners. Thing like karmashareLLC will allow Karma to stop being just a trading value and become a vision. So by investing , you are helping push forward.

Again, read up everything , ask a 1000 question and make your own decision. At the same time, never invest more then you are comfortable to risk. Do not rush into your decisions.

the team will push forward and i am sure more opportunities will come in near future

cheers

Thanks Cryptowho!

I need help.  I just opened my wallet today for minting and noticed that it's not syncing anymore.  Then I saw the mandatory update to 1.7 wallet (i'm on 1.5 now) in OP and need your help.  I'm a tech newb and I'd appreciate if anyone can take me step by step process on how to update wallet.  Safest method will be appreciated.  Thanks in advance!

You need to make sure you can see hidden files and folders on your operating system. then go to your users/appdata/mintcoin folder and backup your wallet.dat somewhere. Then delete all the other files leaving behind only your super important wallet.dat file. Then run the updated mintcoin client.

"Then delete all other files.."  Do you mean all the files in users/appdata/mintcoin folder (except wallet.dat) and then download/run the 1.7 wallet?

Yup you should have a mintcoin folder with just your wallet.dat and then run version 1.7

Thanks!  Looks like it worked!  =)

Hey vtbean, I'll do the best I can!

First thing you will want to do is backup your wallet.dat file. Back it up in multiple locations (you should keep it backed up at multiple locations all the time- you only need to reback it up whenever you add a new address to the wallet). You can back it up from within your wallet using file => backup wallet.

Now you will want to  find your "roaming" folder. First, make sure you can see hidden files and folders. Then, to find the "roaming" folder, if you are using windows, search for %appdata% in the search bar on the start tab (I'm not sure how to find it on a mac/linux, but I imagine it is an analogous process). Once you have located your "roaming" folder, locate the "MintCoin" folder within it. Delete everything from this folder except for your wallet.dat file (it would be fine if you did delete it since you backed up the wallet.dat file elsewhere, but there is no need to delete it so don't take the risk).

Now that everything is deleted, except for your wallet.dat file, download and run the new v1.7 wallet. You will need to download the entire blockchain again.

Edit: well that took too long for me to type, looks like others already covered it  Grin

Haha.  Yeah but thanks anyways.  Mintcoin has good community!  =)

As far as I understand, you have to do nothing.

Only in case you had it encrypted it would make sense to unlock it.

So the fact that "Unlock button" is greyed out means my wallet is not encrypted and therefore will start the process of minting right away?  Can anyone confirm this?

Yes, just let the coins mature to 20 days and you will start to see new mined coins in your wallet.

Thanks!

I just have a quick question because I don't want to miss out on any of the PoS minting... I have an unencrypted wallet, and the "unlock wallet" is greyed out.  I can not do the console command to unlock it because I don't have a password for my wallet.  Will I earn PoS in the current condition? Or do I need to encrypt the wallet to unlock it for a duration of time to receive PoS?

Thanks, I hope to see Mintcoin prosper

I have the same problem.  Can anyone help us???

Thanks both for your help.  Now, do I need to back up the wallet (write over the old back up file) every 20 days when I start minting new coins?  Because there would be different amount in the wallet, right?

Can anyone tell me how I can back up my wallet?  First time downloading wallet and importing MintCoins (or any coins for that matter)...

C:\Users\vtbean79\AppData\Roaming\Mintcoin

Look for the file named wallet.dat

Back that file up.

Or just go to 'file->backup wallet' from right within the wallet itself and choose where to save the file. Preferably onto a different hard drive or a flash drive.

Thanks everyone for their reply.  Some good info here and I see some FUD as well.  But overall, it helped a lot.  Feel free to add to the topic if you have more coins to recommend.  Hopefully in 2014, we'll see all alts take off together!

Looks like Karma finally has a nice pump coming in @ mintpal.  Well deserved.  I just hope I can time it correctly and sell high and buy low.   Grin

I'm expecting similar pump as the TOPCOIN yesterday.  Top out @ maybe 12 sat and settle down to 7-8 sat.
