Yeah the only reason Argentina's financial crisis isn't making bigger news is because it's being overshadowed by the financial crisis in Venezuela...but the inflation in Argentina is getting to the point where they're basically a lighter version of Venezuela right now.
Argentina needs to turn into Venezuela 2.0 in order to become more news worthy. I haven't seen one bit of coverage on Argentina's financial problems locally, but almost daily plenty of Venezuela and its refugees.You really have to dig into everything yourself if you want to know what's going on in the world, because news outlets only show you what they think is relevant for their income, which is somewhat retarded but also understandable.
It's a business and as long as that is the case, we'll have to accept that these things happen. I'm glad that everything is just a couple of clicks away on the internet, so we don't depend on them to feed us news.
You're not hearing about Argentina because Venezuela is so bad that they're overshadowing everything. It's like comparing a company that's losing $5 million versus a company that's losing $25 million...everyone will talk only about the company that's losing $25 million but it doesn't mean the other company isn't doing badly.
But I agree, you have to search for news nowadays and not just rely on what the media feeds us. The truth is that Argentina's inflation is really bad and they're on the verge of an economic crisis...so it's smart that they're turning to Bitcoin now before it's too late.

Actually it's not free. Yes you get a token from your bounty but it doesn't mean that you get it for free. Remember that you work for bounty campaigns and the token is the reward for your hardwork.I don't think I've ever done an airdrop or bounty that required more than 5 minutes of work...and the ones that do I completely ignore.
These figures just indicate that. that whales control the crypto-currency market. Just an example of this can serve as the current price increase ripple by 58 percent and its increase in the level of capitalization, so ripple has already bypassed ethereum for the second time in terms of capitalization and is now in second place according to CoinMarketCap.
I have no doubt that Ripple is being artificially pumped...it wouldn't shock me if the drop is harder than anything we've seen in cryptocurrency so far, so I'm staying the hell away from it.

This is the reason why the switch to Bitcoin salaries will be a gradual process. E.g. the Japanese
company that already pays employees in BTC only pays a certain percentage (10 % or something
like this) in BTC and the rest in Japanese Yen.
No one is suggesting that companies switch 100 % of the salary payments to BTC, at the beginning
it will only be a fraction until BTC is more mature. Of course some pioneers like freelancers
that work independently will switch to 100 % Bitcoin much faster, but traditional companies
will have to be more conservative.
Yeah that's a smart compromise and one I'd be willing to do too. I have no problem with part of my salary being paid in Bitcoin and I fully advocate others to do the same if we ever want Bitcoin to really take off.

Accepting donations in a currency =/= believing in its future. I would call it a stretch to say that UNICEF "believes in the future" of all ERC20 tokens when the vast majority of them are trash.
I mean, I doubt they'd go through the trouble of accepting these things if they thought there was no future in them. There's no reason to go through the trouble of accepting cryptocurrency if you think it's a fad that will die in a year or two.
Easiest way to stop spam: Tell every upcoming ICO/Airdrop that if they require BitcoinTalk posts or signatures as part of their campaign that they won't be allowed to post on here ever.
Last night, I saw a movie called Unfriended: Dark Web wherein one of the main characters stole a laptop, which he later found out that it is owned by a member of an anonymous group in a Dark Web. This member sent him bitcoins totaling to $10m to make him do terrible things, dragging his friends into this mess. This got me thinking, I know it is probably possible to use crypto for dark web, but if this is how it is going to be, don't you think that this will make bitcoins and other altcoins dangerous? Can a person really use cryptocurrency for Dark Web?
PS: I am not planning to use cryptocurrency for dark web, I am simply asking if it is indeed possible and its dangers.

Bitcoin usage on the dark web was much higher 3-4 years ago but as the coin has become more mainstream it's usage on the dark web has gone down considerably.
This article is meant to stoke fear about Bitcoin but when you really think about it the top 1% own the majority of most investments. I've read that 99% of the products in store shelves is from 10 corporations.

There's no KYC on fiat so why should there be on crypto.
There's definitely ways to trace fiat though including the serial numbers. On the whole, outside of illegal activity, it's very easy for a government to know how much money their citizens have.
Seeing the number of scam ICO I don't think it is helping the industry at any point (other than giving a bad reputation).
Here's the problem with bringing up scam ICO's all the time...for the most part anyone with half a brain can tell when an ICO is a scam, but people still fall for them. It's really no different than scams in real estate. You always see people selling "land" that turns out to be swamps or other scams in real estate but no one thinks that the real estate industry has a bad reputation.
Yes, scam ICO's do exist but scams exist with any investment industry. It's up to the investor to be diligent and do their research before they put their money into something.
