We have a wallet that is now successfully staking and minting new coins on the main network! Screenshots below:
http://prntscr.com/3f0l3g
http://prntscr.com/3f0lb4
http://prntscr.com/3f0lvc

We are still testing to make sure that it is absolutely bulletproof before releasing it. Go and spread this around, and help us dispel the FUD about us not working on this client. It's currently 9:15 PM here and 4:15AM in Greece (where Mindfox is), and we've been working on it for days.

More info coming soon.

logged in to say thanks much! to you, mogonzo and all contributors, its awesome
also may want to consider upgrading the wallets openSSL version

Ok proof of stake is based on a few factors, how long coins are in wallet without moving, the number of coins you have, and if your wallet address is selected for staking. The more coins you have the greater the chance of getting picked for stake, as long as coin age matches up etc. Google proof of stake, it can be confusing but yes it's like a lottery, the more tickets you have the higher chance of staking Smiley

my "issue" comes down to block times than. with 10 minute blocktimes, staking is very different in contrast to every other pos coin out there, in feel at least. i know if i opened my mint, zeit or other pos wallets and had coins 10+ days past min weight, they would start staking probably before i get done syncing.

it promotes the network i suppose, but if one cant stake at least say... 50% of what ive held past min age within a week or so...i think that may not be ideal

Hmm, I have 1K and trying to mint it for a week. Did not minted a single dime. What is wrong?

i have a few k myself and dont believe im able to mint properly...

latest wallet, stays synced. i can leave it open for a few days(and have) and nothing... ive been monitoring it for around a week.
one time it actually did stake off 1000 coins, but just the one time. im not sure what triggered it.

i got coins distributed each day from the first day to the last day of distribution(3/10-3/17?)... i never transferred any coins out,
but upgraded the wallet. im well beyond minimum coin weight to stake.

seems kind of odd theres not more minting happening. seems either something is wrong, or
you just need to leave the wallet open for more than a few days at a time to mint?

For minting each wallet address is selected at random, yes you want to always leave it open if your wallet isn't accessible than the network moves on if your wallet address was selected. So basically leave it open and if your lottery number comes up it will mint, if it's not open the network selects another address.

thanks for the response
i guess im used to seeing mint and zeit just mint away if its ready, and within a few hours, usually a few minutes. it must be the 10 minute block times??  NEEDING the wallet to be open for days for a chance to stake 1 share seems a bit ridiculous.

edit -- and now that i reread your reply, i have a hard time with the way you describe the pos process as "lotteryesque"...  that is not my understanding of how the system works.

Multipool is ready-ish!

to recap:
we can't get a hold of source for BC's multipool or a pool operator/dev to write one for us
but we can and we are going to use third party multipools Smiley

we'll need your help to test everything out, give us some hash power:
http://fair-coin.info/multipool

this is in alpha stage, meaning you should expect a million bugs and server crashes.
we tested what we could locally, but we'll be surprised if everything just works
the good part is that the payment is 100% safe, whatever you mine is yours, have no fear of that

we'll be looking to improve things asap, it's not easy and if you can help please do so Smiley

don't spread this around yet, lets have 24hrs/48hrs without pressure, make sure the bugs get fixed and the payment works first
there are no links to it yet, lets keep it that way
thanks Smiley

how does this work?

i mine to a multipool and put in a btc payment address that you generate? than you take my btc and go buy my fac and deposit it to my fac address?

ulghh

------------

if your not running the pool - how is this needed... why would i need you to proxy my fac buys?
i get the idea behind pool buying fac regularly.. this just seems silly

so whats the new min coin weight to POS mine?
other than the checkpoint and min weight -- what else has been modified? this is nfo that should be FRONT paged. unfortunately we cant all go thru code to see.

buying hashpower?  how much is needed.. i dont see it being applied based on diff
i know users will put hash in if asked...

new min weight is 21 days, making the first coins somewhere around monday
sunday we're kicking out old versions

we're looking to buy at least 10 MH until we have pos blocks
attacks will always be possible, but this leaves out only a dos attack that is not profitable to begin with and so very unlikely even without the hash power
but, just to be sure there are no more hiccups

u're right this should be on the front page
but what i really want to see is everybody updating to latest version
there are still people on previous version, and if they don't update now they'll start having problems sunday

adding my hashrate to pool now

---looks like pool on wrong build

coin2 is not a pos coin, it's a normal ltc fork with premine

clearly, we could've been better in preparing and added checkpoints a few days ago
but we are not idiots, and we found the problem and fixed what we could fix

pos coins are generally safer than pure pow coins
however, this coin doesn't have pos blocks yet and therefore was vulnerable to 51% attack

the fix includes a hard checkpoint and lowering of pos min age so we start generating pos blocks
we're also buying some hash power until pos blocks start

all coins can be attacked in some way, in theory
but it's now much much harder and will only get harder as time moves on

so whats the new min coin weight to POS mine?

people who are content usually don't say much
whoopdee u'll get your bounty

I thank you much, i wasnt intending to be rude, and didnt expect to be translated as such...

Beyond myself tho, i was asking about the bounty pool. Theres not much known about it and i see now that its a sensitive subject.
I for one would find it very contenting to see some transparency. In this day and age, and especially in crypto, we all ride
numbers and stats. When they are missing, especially after a nonstop push to larger exchanges, one may wonder...

That being said, i wont ask about any bounties again.   .... but someone might....

i can't pay a generic bounty for a generic promo video
it will depend on the quality of the video

every one of us knows other parts of the cryptocoin world
go work with the things you know, make contact
we'll sort out the payment, don't worry

Respectfully, has there been ANY bounties paid?

As i search the thread i dont see anyone saying "got the bounty"  - all i see is users being ignored on questions like - wheres my bounty?
I myself have asked about a bounty, than a few days later Private messaged you with no reply to either.

I am interested in full bounty nfo, as are others, being ignored is lame.
Also, without bounty transparency, it leads one to believe your "bounty reserve" is a personal reserve.

Time to publish some details, the clandestine attitude has gone on long enough.

o7

Everyone get the bounty if their apply successful. So dont troll thanks.
Regards.

Excuse me, this is legit talk -- please dont interrupt without some contrib.

You lost the legitimacy when you said being ignored is lame... This isn't the schoolyard. I find that being levelheaded and not being nasty brings much greater results than the approach above.

what i said is true. and even if it was a bit irritated, it doesnt invalidate what ive said.   Where is the bounty going?   You should wonder.

If i offended you by being offended, shit happens.

Having Faircoin first on mintpal voting for the next 4-6 days will give us more visibility before we actually hit the market.

Then if som1 can really manage that genius idea of multipool this could be truly an amazing feature.

Creating constant buy orders and demand this is going to be good.

Maybe the dev can offer a bounty on the FAC website?

(btw: wouldn't this also be good for the coin's infastructure? More mining -> more active FAC wallets -> more nodes -> easier syncing?)

if by multipool you mean mining pool, it exists already. however you dont get paid to hash, and if your not carefull you can leave the network LOCKED due to a diff that cant be delt with by the coinholders genning wallets anymore. this happened during launch distro.

at this point(at least) a pool is not needed, and would probably be harmfull as it has been in the past.

They mean a multipool... you throw your hash at it... it automatically puts you hash into the most profitable coin, be it DOGE/LTC/AUR/Whatever, and then it automatically sells it on an exchange and buys FAC and that's how you get FAC for your hash.

wtf
