I have to say that you've done an amazing job! If I didn't already have my S1's "mounted" in a 4U case I would be all over this. Sure beats a makeshift setup and a ton of zip ties that's for sure.

If I had won it would have gone towards my engagement ring fund for the SO.

Are.. are you proposing to me? On here? HOW ROMANTIC! Yes! Yes, I will, xELx.
Hey now, let's keep this civil. This is the internet after all.

Theres no need to stress him Tongue

Edit: What would you do when you had won the price? I would pay my tuition fee and the rest would go to the others Smiley

Just to confirm that I've received the 0.1 BTC tip. So much about all those who talked dirty about the solver, I would like to see if they would share the part of the winnings with others.

Thanks, Gatekeeper.
That is pretty honorable, I totally agree. However, I find it odd that he hasn't posted anything on here yet. So many people helped him out, but he hasn't thanked anyone yet.
I can understand why he wouldn't want to post anything here with the hostility that has already been displayed in this thread.

Overall with this entire adventure I'm satisfied with the experience. After brushing off yesterday's disappointment I can now enjoy the better moments that I had throughout this entire thing. I haven't done anything like this before but it was quite fun and exciting collaborating and sharing information with everyone to work towards our common goal. There was also nothing better than solving a stage and finally getting the damn passwords right for the next layer .7z. The minecraft part was pretty fun as well and it's too bad those that didn't have the game couldn't partake.

Now that this is over I wanted to remind people that there's a treasure hunt at mathgate.info:
http://mathgate.info/treasurehunt.php
There are a lot of treasures ranging from 1 mbit to 1 bitcoin, so it's less winner-take-all.

I know a lot of people worked very hard on this puzzle and are disappointed that they didn't get the treasure, or even part of it. I thought of a way to alleviate this a little while also helping me out with a little market research as well.

It's clear to me from this monster thread that the idea of a treasure hunt that leads to a bitcoin private key can be a popular idea. This is also what's happening at mathgate.info, but the "search" simply involves finding a certain formal mathematical proof. I'm happy for the OP that her treasure hunt went so well, but I'm wondering why there's not more action in the mathgate.info treasure hunt. It seems to me that you are the people to ask.

I have 0.4 bitcoins to give away. The first 4 users who have at least 3 posts in this thread will get 0.1 bitcoins if you post a reason that you are not taking part in the mathgate.info treasure hunt. (If you are taking part in the mathgate.info treasure hunt, then you've probably already found 0.1 bitcoins there anyway.) I'll skip responses that are clearly intended as jokes. It's the first 4 users with reasonable responses that will get 0.1 bitcoins each.

I find the website in general isn't that well designed. It's difficult on my eyes to properly read the large amount of text displayed without them feeling strained due to how everything is formatted. Having yellow as a background doesn't help either. Navigating it properly as well isn't that easy either Sad.

Yea it would be nice to have confirmation as to whether or not we're looking for the final key or a pass-phrase of some sort. Plot twist: we eventually find another bit . ly link.

I'm still not quite sure what to use it on, but I'm pretty sure the 0=0A=10BABYA=36 is a character mapping.
0=0
A=10
BabyA=36. Morse code has no lowercase, so she called the lowercase 'a' BabyA.

This also jives with the background story for Wow!.jpg. The numbers/letters are intensities:

Quote from: from Wikipedia
The circled alphanumeric code 6EQUJ5 describes the intensity variation of the signal. A space denotes an intensity between 0 and 1, the numbers 1 to 9 denote the correspondingly numbered intensities (from 1.0 to 10.0), and intensities of 10.0 and above are denoted by a letter ('A' corresponds to intensities between 10.0 and 11.0, 'B' to 11.0 to 12.0, etc.). The value 'U' (an intensity between 30.0 and 31.0) was the highest detected by the radio telescope; on a linear scale it was over 30 times louder than normal deep space.

I'm getting obsessed with this above. We haven't used this clue anywhere, and it may be saying to us:
"Use some string and replace
0 with 0
A with 10
a with 36
and then use it as a passphrase to get the key."
Problem is I don't get what "replace 0 with 0" can mean? What's the point of replacing something with itself?
0=0 is just saying that numbers are equal to themselves and wouldn't be converted to anything.

However, I don't expect anything more at this point.
She has been spoonfeeding us since the begining to the point where she is not challenging us enough.

Sorry but it's the truth.

The solution probably needs to involve a dual sha256 too. That hint is still on the front post.

Hint is gone now.

Well that nukes that theory then.  Huh
Not really. OP has been placing and removing hints for a while. The hints themselves are valid.
I wouldn't think that "The Final Countdown" is a hint. Seems more like hyping that it's the end. The only thing that has really been revealed is that we have to use the Crops picture with the Wow one.

the original post have been edited 2 times today.
Did anyone catch the second hint-clue? OP tends to delete the hints sortly after pyblishing!
During that time I was afk.

Anybody got some of dem clues?

The last two edits I believe were adding this:

and then deleting it.

Nonetheless.... anybody got some clues? Huh

The correct overlay (xmp-points scaled [0;1]x[0;1]=>[0;3600]x[0;2974])

My impression is, that the confusingly stroked area (with the SETI signal) is irrelevant, it's also used for the password already. Attention should be payed for the channel number and the 51 bytes headlines and somehow the marked line on the right.

http://i.imgur.com/lUHNUQK.jpg
Does the random squiggly bits look deliberate to anyone else? Just the way the lines seem to pass through specific digits has me interested. For instance, if you look at the bottom how it passes through 'U' and avoids any other characters before hitting another '1' and then sharply going to another '1'. Could be that I'm just grasping at straws here but I'm at a loss as to what to do here.

I think that we should be looking at the "WOW O" portion of things. This little extra chunk of morse code is bugging me... looking at things like:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wow!_signal

THIS IS TOTALLY THE RIGHT DIRECTION.

Edited for how I actually felt. No lies. Srsly.
