The oldest Bitcoin address that I found in my archives was generated May-27-2011. The price that day was $8.50.

It is almost a month since this thread was started (02/13/2012).
Let's take a look at two coins' price during this period.

ETH: 02/13 - 123.75   03/07 - 140.37  chg: +13.4%
LTC: 02/13 - 42.3       03/07 - 56.6      chg: +33.8%

Litecoin chart looks pretty bullish for me. If it can break 51- 52 zone, next stop is 64 - 65.

For me LTC looks like one of the most bullish alts. It has already reached Nov-2018 levels.
I started to buy it again at 28, 34, 41. Will add more on bottoms.

I think buying altcoins in bear market is a great idea but its better to just use excess money to buy them so that you can HODL for a long time until you reach your price target Wink
Hmm, bear market. For example monthly chart for LTC/USD has higher highs and higher lows for three months now. Litecoin demonstrated 112% growth since mid December.

Re: Blockchain technology advancements

As nowadays every other company building their system with Blockchain or Ethereum technology, can we consider, the blockchain is future of coding language ? Considering the biggest benefit of decentralization network and all others pros of it.

Not sure regarding the implications of blockchain on coding languages, but I think smart contracts are really the niche where statically typed pure functional languages could shine. I'm talking about the languages  mainly from ML family: Haskell, OCaml, F#, Elm, PureScript.

Just imagine, your smart contract can be treated just as a pure function which takes some input and gives some output, no side effects, no typos, etc. Imho, this is the direction where languages smart contracts should lead to.

And pure functions can help to prove the correctness of program.
There are some projects that utilize the power of functional languages in order to make smart contracts provable.
They are mostly in early stage of development.

Hi guys, sorry but I am just dumbfounded by this figures... what's going on?
Not that I would be unhappy with $4700 for 24 hours of mining  Cool

https://i.imgur.com/VkKZRk9.jpg

On your screenshot total hashrate for Karbo is shown as  3.41 KH/s. This is most probably an error due outdated client at mynecryptonight.net and this cannot last for 24 hours. The lowest real hashrate during last days was ~500 KH/s.

I don't buy it either. ZEC is actually the coin. People always go to it when market is falling. Look even today ZEC was gaining value over BTC well before the market turned around. And then pumped hard and still up 13% over BTC while ETC not even 1%.

What period of time do you mean?

Re: What happens when all nodes on the blockchain go offline?
by

How this adversary can get into the network if there are no running nodes?

Let's take example of Bitcoin. Assume all nodes of Bitcoin network go offline for some reason. Now assume an adversary (a party who wants to do harm to Bitcoin) detects the situation and starts mining blocks. Since no one else is mining at that time, the adversary can create selfish (illegal) transactions and include them in his/her blocks. If he is able to build many such blocks on top of each other, when the parties start getting back online, they may have to accept those blocks with selfish transactions (since the longest chain wins). If those blocks are accepted, the adversary has been able to successfully do illegal transactions.

How he can to start mining if he does not have previous blocks?
This will be just a new blockchain.

...
Also, ETH has been holding on to it's price better than Bitcoin since mid-January (dropped 50% from ATH vs over 60%), Litecoin is still up some vs Bitcoin since then, a few other altcoins have been holding on AS WELL as Bitcoin.

Jan-15-2018 ETH/USD was 0.096, it peaked to 0.011 as of Feb-01 and ATM it is 0.065. What do you mean "by better holding to its price"?

What happenes, when at some time, all nodes on the blockchain go offline?

While the answer depends on the exact consensus protocol used by the blockchain, one can expect the following:
1. No transaction will be recorded while all nodes are offline.
2. Previous transactions (in the last few blocks) will not be finalized for longer period if ever.
3. An adversary may be able to gain control of the blockchain with less effort/resources than usual.

Will the blockchain be dead forever?
The answer depends upon
1. If the offline event is caused by network outage, then the blockchain will likely resume operation when the connectivity is restored.
2. If the nodes have lost interest in the blockchain, it may never come back to life.

How this adversary can get into the network if there are no running nodes?

If at least one node still has blockchain data on disk, network can be restarted if such node (or multiple nodes) comes back online.
Otherwise this blockchain is dead.

(Huh)

Any links to whitepaper and to source code repo?

Source code will available on launch date, WP will be released laterr

So, only sometimes later after the launch we will know at least something about this coin.

https://reestr.rublacklist.net/

И rbc.ua заблокирована в январе 2016го. https://www.rbc.ru/rbcfreenews/56ab9e9a9a7947dc013ff075

Так что, откуда куда прилетел вирус, это вопрос.
