Actually, I found that if I resync to another Electrum server, the transaction may not exist on the second server. In one case, the original transaction disappeared after a day when I resynced back to the original server. In any case, you can probably respend the coins, if you find that the transaction does not exist on the second server, but should be aware that one of those transactions, either the first or the second, will be a double spend.
This has bit me too :-/
If the transactions show in Electrum as pending but haven't been propagated to the network (no trace in block chain.info), is there a way of resending them?
Or do they disappear by themselves and the coins are available again?
What happens if I try to spend the coins that are stuck? Will the transaction get thru? (since the network has no knowledge of the previous stuck transaction?

My last two SEPA transfers sending EURO to MTGOX have been unbearably slow.
The last one I sent monday of last week and still does not appear in my account. I contacted them on thursday and they told me that they had received the transfer and that it would be available "in a few more days".
The thing is, these really used to take 2-3 business (like they say in the help on the site).
Anyone knows what has gone wrong?

te puedes descargar un backup, que se actualiza diariamente, de la cadena de bloques, aunque avisa de que es para ordenadores que NO tienen wallet.dat.
Yo no lo he usado nunca, así que no te puedo decir si funciona o no y cómo.
Si lo pruebas ya nos contarás.

En un servicio centralizado como mybitcoin.com pueden tener las carteras de dos maneras diferentes (que se me ocurran):
- Como ficheros wallet.dat independientes por cada usuario
- En "cuentas" dentro del mismo wallet.dat (https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Accounts_explained#Accounts)
Si son dos ficheros wallet.dat independientes, la transacción es como cualquier otra, se propaga por la red, se procesa en un bloque y queda consolidada. En este caso no habría ningún problema ya que cuando se restaure el site los balances de bitcoin de cada cartera se actualizarían y listo.
En el segundo caso, creo que la transacción se perdería ya que, si no me equivoco, las transferencias entre "cuentas" dentro de un mismo wallet.dat no se emiten hacia la red bitcoin, sino que son una manera de dividir los fondos de una cartera en una especie de "cajones".
Soy un ignorante en bitcoin, por tanto puede que mi consulta no tenga sentido... si lo tiene, me gustaría conocer el resultado pero si no tiene sentido me gustaría saber en qué parte me he equivocado sobre la arquitectura de bitcoin.

A mi también me ha gustado, creo que tiene un buen punto intermedio entre ser demasiado técnico o ser demasiado impreciso. Explica bien los puntos importantes tanto económicos como técnicos y teniendo en cuenta que va dirigido a un público general, creo que encuentra un buen equilibrio.
De acuerdo con Jaime en que la tecnología en si es neutral y compararla con la descargas musicales puede descolocar a alguien y hacerle pensar en algo ilegal.
Tan solo señalar la pequeña imprecisión, que no tiene importancia sobre la función que hacen los mineros, que no es validar firmas criptográficas (aunque también lo hacen).
Y sobre todo el error del ataque a MtGox que dice que los precios subieron de centavos a 17 dólares. No se si se podrá corregir.

Ya tiene credibilidad. El problema es que la mayoría de las persona tienen que dormir, madurar, el concepto varios dias, meses, para entender porque esto es revolucionario y positivo.
Pues claro que tiene crediblidad. Pero que salga en un diario económico y en buena luz pues ayudará sin duda.
Puede ayudar mucho en el mundo hispanohablante, ojalá sea en buena luz, últimamente ha habido muchas "calamidades" y los periodistas tienden a ser muy sensacionalistas.

Hola, soy nuevo en el tema, y todavía me cuesta entender ciertos aspectos de Bitcoin.
Entiendo que Bitcoin funciona como una moneda virtual, y todo ese tema... Sin embargo, no me cierra el tema de "minar". ¿Cómo se generan los bitcoins cuando uno "mina"?

Cuando uno mina lo que está haciendo en realidad es tratar de encontra un número que hace que un conjunto de transacciones de la red de bitcoin se pueda guardar de tal manera que es muy difícil alterarlas o eliminarlas. De esta manera, al encontrar ese número (a esto se le llama "resolver un bloque") estás contribuyendo a la seguridad de la red bitcoin.
Por ese trabajo se premia al minero que resuelve el bloque, y se le permite incluir una transacción asignándose 50 bitcoins. Esto está definido así en el software y es un consenso entre todos los nodos de la red. (Si alguien, por ejemplo, intentara asignarse 100 bitcoins al resolver un bloque, la red lo rechazaría)
¿Qué gana el que nos paga esos bitcoins a cambio del uso de la placa de video?
En realidad nadie te paga esos bitcoins, se generan "de la nada" como te decía arriba a modo de recompensa por hacer ese trabajo de cálculo que hace más seguro el sistema.
Esta recompensa se irá reduciendo paulatinamente, ahora son 50 bitcoins, pero más adelante 25, luego 12.5 y así hasta que se reduzca a 0. En ese momento la recompensa por resolver un bloque

Tu placa de video está haciendo una función hash sobre la cabecera del bloque, intentando que el resultado sea menor que un cierto número.

I must have had twice your headache setting up the ATI Stream SDK on Linux for the first time. I'm guessing you downloaded it as a single archive from ATI's site?
Try setting the ATISTREAMSDKROOT environment variable to point to the directory where you extracted the SDK, since those compilation errors are most likely the result of the Stream compiler not being able to find the Stream libraries to link against.

Also, this document was extremely useful in getting the SDK set up. I wish I had found that before I started my install, it would have saved me a lot of trouble.

I am starting work on an options trading platform. The first thing I want to calculate is the theoretical pricing of options, for which I need the historical volatility.
I have tried to get historical mtgox closing prices from both

In Spain you can use http://bitcoin.com.es/ via bank transfer. Probably the fastest way and cheap if your bank allows transfer with no commision.

Currently running at slightly below 70C at 70% fan speed and the case open.
How did you get your core to 900 Mhz in Ubuntu? I can't go above 775 Mhz on my core with aticonfig. Are you using a custom program?
