Not just geographic location either, but lifestyle, commitments, etc. Many people have been unable to access education post-high school because of time commitments, family commitments, work, etc. They can't make it to a set-schedule "classroom" environment not just because of their location, but because they have to be elsewhere at the time when the educational activity takes place. This is one of the reasons I was unable to study subjects I wanted to previously - because I had to work to pay the bills!
Now, people can access educational content in their own time, by their own schedule, wherever they can access the internet. You can be on holiday, at home eating dinner, on a lunch break, on the train to work, waiting to pick kids up from school... and still educate yourself.
It's definitely had an impact on my life. In fact, it's how I've learned most of what I have about cryptocurrency to date, among other subjects!
"Distance" and "Flexible" education are the future.
